This was the first gaming keyboard I ever bought, but it's definitely aimed towards more serious gamers with some of the features it has. The Razer Synapse is great for customizing the lighting and other settings on it, but it can be a little tricky to use when you're first starting out. The clacky keys are definitely fun to use for a while, but it does start to get annoying, especially when you're talking to people through mic and they can hear you on your keyboard all the time. Other than that, it's great!

This bad boy has helped my response time in games, also the mechanical clicking after pressing a button lets me know "hey you just use this ability" the lighting on mine seems to only be on one setting though. (An in and out glow) - kinda sucks I would rather it just stay on all the time.

This keyboard was under $100, and it's almost the exact same keyboard as the newer Black Widow Chroma versions. This product only lights up green, so if you care about colors, this one isn't for you - but the green switches are great. Smooth use, and in a great price range for a mechanical keyboard. The "2016" part is irrelevant.

I have to admit, when I got it I didn't realize it was Green-Only lighting, but it's still a gorgeous keyboard - the sound of a good Mechanical keyboard just cannot be beat, and unlike my Chroma, the light pattern continues when the machine is asleep (Perhaps this is because the BlackWidow is on a Mac?). I highly recommend this keyboard

Unless you're into true RGB backlit keyboards, this is the best keyboard you can get for this price! It's got fantastic quality and durability. I've been using for work as well as for gaming. I use programs such as Photoshop, illustrator, and Microsoft office. Overall very pleased with it!

Great keyboard. The tactile feel is wonderful. I had forgotten how great mechanical keyboards are. This one has great light effects, if that is your thing. Very solid feel and construction. Lightning quick response. The only thing I did not like was that you had to sign up for an account with the manufacturer to use there product. The light would only blink until you created an account, signed on and registered. Then you could do whatever you wanted with the lighting function.

At 72 technology has pretty much past me by but I needed a keyboard that I could see in dim or no light. I love that this keyboard lights up and is so easy for me to see. It may also encourage my grandson to spend time with me as he teaches me the fine points of it's many uses and options. I am very pleased with this purchase.

    At last, a decent keyboard

I'm a picky typist, and have been for several decades. My first real keyboard was a Keytronic Professional 101, if that gives you an idea of the kind of solid tactility I expect: something clicky, something light and articulate, something with decent travel, and something that lets me be confident when a key has actually registered. This offering from Razer basically ticks those boxes, a solid beast intended for the rigors of gaming while still providing some lighting pizazz. My small nitpicks center on their keycap art; the font is blocky and for several keys (such as the ";"/":" key and all the numbers) they choose to put the unshifted symbol *above* the highlighted symbol. I touchtype so that's not so confusing, but some people might be mystified. A comment that might or might not bother you is that the keys are almost *too* crisp -- they're not hard to depress like some of the ancient IBM workstation keyboards, but there's basically no "squish" either that might cushion the percussion of typing all day. Those who really pound their keys might want to bear that in mind before shelling out for this bad boy. If you want lighting behavior other than a uniform "breathing", you'll need to install Razer's software. I use this keyboard for a laptop dock at work, and I was experiencing some odd dockability issues I think might be due to said software, so I didn't end up bothering. The real lighting fanatics should probably upgrade to the full-color Chroma keyboards from Razer anyway. Bottom line: I may never find the *perfect* keyboard, but this one is pretty solid and certainly better than any of the normal Microsoft or Logitech keyboards you'll find on store shelves. BE AWARE that the audible clickiness of this keyboard is NO JOKE, so if you work somewhere that noise pollution is frowned upon, you might need to think twice. Otherwise, go for it.

The response and feel of this mechanical keyboard is definitely worth the money, however, I wish I would have paid closer attention to some of the features. For example, I did not realize this unit has a single plugin for a microphone/headset. My current headset has separate plugs for the microphone and speakers. Nothing a little adapter can't handle. I also wish it had more than just the green lighting, but that was something I was willing to compromise on to save $50.

    Great Gaming Keyboard

I've spent a lot of time reviewing and testing several gaming/mechanical keyboards currently on the market, and I have to say that this is one of my favorites. Razer has done a great job of creating a quality keyboard with truly fantastic key switches. I'm a Cherry MX Blue fan myself but have also used Reds, Silvers, and Browns. This keyboard has "Razer Green" switches which are really just switches made by Greetech that are similar to Blues. In other words, they have both a tactile "bump" when the actuation point is reached as well as an audible "click" of the plunger mechanism that goes off just after the actuation point. They have a slightly decreased actuation distance and total travel distance compared to Cherry Blues, so what you end up with is actually a more responsive and, in my opinion, better-feeling version of Blues. My only gripe with this keyboard, and with most of Razer's keyboards, is the poor placement of the media control keys. You have to use two hands to both press the Fn key in the bottom-right and then the mute/volume keys located on F3-F5. It may be a minor issue for others, but for me it was quite annoying. Otherwise, I highly recommend this keyboard if you're looking for a solid gaming/mechanical keyboard at a good price with some of the best-feeling switches available.

This is a great mechanical keyboard. I have noticed that I do not make as many spelling errors due to misclicks of keys that I had when using a membrane keyboard. The keyboard is a little on the loud side when typing so if you do not like loud keyboards I cannot recommend this to you. For me this is the perfect keyboard.

If you're looking for a sort of loud, mechanical keyboard for gaming this is the perfect one! I love it and with the razer app for the computer you can change how the green light shows (ex. Strobe, solid color, etc.). What I dislike is that the color stays green but other than that it's an amazing keyboard!
