This truly is an amazing computer. Gaming laptops in general have the penchant for being gaudy, over sized things with adolescent color schemes. Sadly very little of the market is currently being dedicated to professionals like myself who want a computer they can take to work meetings one point of the day and then play their games on later with high fidelity graphics. The Razer Blade 14, MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro, and some of the lower-end but clunky Dell and Asus laptops with 9 series Nvidia graphics card operate within this role the best.
In my opinion, the Razer Blade 14 is probably the sleekest and best looking gaming laptop on the market with the MSI GS63VR closely behind. It's appointments are tasteful and even the tri-snake logo of Razer doesn't look too flashy to detract from this. It is a beautiful laptop that is a perfect contender in the PC corner to compete with the form factor and build quality of the Macbook Pro. It strikes a nice balance between the 15" screen size and 13" screen sizes that are available on the more portable gaming laptops with its 14" screen. The audio on this laptop is absolutely incredible as well. When I first booted it up and the Windows theme music played, I actually twitched in surprise for a moment and glanced to see if my external speakers were plugged in. This thing boasts incredible audio that the MSI GS63VR, my current laptop, cannot hope to contest.
With these things in mind, you now know why I would recommend this laptop to a friend, but I will go into some of the subjective reasons I decided to return it in lieu of the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro that I have now had for three weeks and completely adore.
1. The keyboard back lighting.
The chroma lighting is indeed beautiful. Having so many colors and patterns and being able to choose which keys are which color is awesome, but the major flaw is that the secondary key symbols and functions don't light up. Backlighting has a greater purpose than just looking cool, it is supposed to LIGHT the keys AND their secondary symbols that you likely will need to see in the dark when you are using the backlight, not a very novel concept. If I did a surveyed poll even among the most dedicated gamers and office typists, I guarantee only a very small fraction would have the key positions for !@#$%^&*()_+{}:"<>?| memorized. Having these visible to me when typing is crucial and is the number one reason why I returned the laptop. Maybe it isn't that big of a deal to some, but it is to me.
2. The price/memory options.
As a reminder, this is subjective, but I think the price Razer wants is just a tad overstretched for the product at hand. I think that the use of high quality PCle memory on an M2 hard drive is a great idea, but there are many people like me who would perhaps be willing to pay the same price while gaining double that space for an M2 memory option that is less costly. As often touted and praised as PCIe memory is, it isn't needed by everyone and many people would settle for slower---and by slower I mean still pants-sizzling fast SSD--- read and write speeds in exchange for a gain in space without paying the premium for top-of-the-line memory that just isn't necessary for everyone.
Note: For less than 30 dollars, you can get a 128GB Samsung or Sandisk USB 3.0 micro-flashdrive from Amazon that you can help to keep more memory at hand, at the sacrifice of an open and available USB slot on a laptop already slim on those. This would not be a viable solution for those frequently and simultaneously plugging in a USB mouse, USB microphones, External DVD drives, etc.
3. Non-user upgradable RAM.
This is more of a minor pet-peeve that applies to a smaller audience of individuals as 16GB of 2400Mhz RAM is going to knock the socks off of any typical user. However, most gaming laptops in this price range offer user upgradable RAM up to at least 32GB. With this laptop, the RAM is soddered on (likely as an act to save space) so what you get is what you get.
4. The touchpad left and right click buttons.
This is a very minor complaint on my part, but I would like to see the future Razer Blade's phase these out. It makes the laptop look slightly less streamlined and it feels outdated. When I am paying this much money for a top-of-the-line gaming laptop, I want it to look the part of the latest and greatest in gaming laptop technology.
Overall, those are my main three complaints. These things may not be an issue for others, but I wanted to throw them out there just to give you some perspective. I still give this laptop 4 starts and a recommendation based on its form factor and build quality, audio, gaming ability, and overall sexiness, a word I will happily use in association with this laptop.
Mythbusting time:
Not really mythbusting per say, but just a couple of observations of other reviewers negative comments on other websites and this one that I would like to contest.
The first is the complaint about this laptops tenancy to retain and quite visibly reveal fingerprints and oil marks. This is a valid, but fairly insubstantial and inconsequential issue in the grand scheme of things. Dbrand makes incredible laptop skins custom made for this laptop that will solve that issue right away. On a 1800 dollar laptop, it seems petty to give it 1-3 stars based only on fingerprints.
The second is the fan noise. A small object traveling at high velocity will emit higher pitched sound then a large object traveling at the same velocity. This is a small laptop with small fans cooling an insanely powerful set of hardware, thus it will be louder and whiner than some. But think of this as a blessing that the engineers at Razer managed to squeezed this much gaming power into this small of a laptop, all with the convenience of not melting your crotch and motherboard through daily use. Pretty neat right? Use headphones if the fans bother you, but I didn't personally notice because the audio really is just that good on this laptops built in speakers.
I hope this review helps your purchasing decision, please feel free to comment on my post and ask questions. I will set the review to notify me so I can answer you promptly. Please like my review if you found it useful, good luck with your decision! My review as to why I chose the MSI GS63VR-001 Stealth Pro available at Best Buy will be up on that page soon too.

I owned the first Blade 14 and loved it. It did get very hot though and that is a trend that seems to have continued on all models of the blade. I was concerned it might especially be a problem with this version given the full desktop GTX 1060. So far this hasn't been the case at all. I've yet to see temps go past 76 in any games.
As far as build quality, it's top notch as you would expect for a machine this expenive.
Specs are phenomenal for as thin as this thing is. It easily maxes out even the most demanding games such as Witcher 3 at 1080p getting over 60 fps. The m.2 slot supports all the way up to the 2TB 960 Pro from Samsung. IPS panel is beautiful, and the fans honestly aren't as loud as previous versions.
Razer knocked it out of the park with this one. Easily the most powerful, portable, and elegant looking laptop you can get. 10/10

There are lots of performance and spec reviews online so I won't go into many details but just give my opinion on the laptop.
Screen: The display is brilliant, great colors and not having a glossed finish is a plus.
Input: The keyboard is on par with that of a macbook pro but the keys feel a little cheaper. The tracpad is great, but the mouse buttons are cheap feeling and have almost no travel.
Hardware: It has a good CPU and GPU combination and runs cool, for an ultra-thin gaming laptop. The charger is very thin and small too, but it would have been nice to have a magnetic connection.
So the laptop is quite good, but I think mine is a lemon. When charging my laptop emits a clicking/whistling noise. Either a capacitor or coil must be going bad. After doing some searching online, it seems razor is known for not having the best quality control on their products.
Final Thoughts: -1 star for needing to swap it out, hopefully the next one will work without issue.

This is the notebook Ive been waiting for! Amazing build quality, top notch specs, sweet bonuses (Chroma keyboard, Razer core compatibilty). It would be perfect if it could include a 1070 instead of a 1060 in the same frame.

4.5/5
I've been really happy with my purchase. there was some mixed responses to the laptop and razer, but I did a lot of research before finally moving forward with the razer blade 1060 FHD.
Good battery Life; around 4 - 6 hours (normal to light work) this is after optimizing windows 10 and uninstalling some of the software. 1h to maybe an hour and a half of gaming depending on game settings
Lovely keyboard and trackpad; Chiclet keys doesn't feel wobbly and the chroma lighting is really a delight.
Just about right screen; I like the colors, response times and input lag is decent for 60 fps competitive gaming. also at the lowest brightness the screen is still *readable
Storage; I cheap out and got the 256gb. fast but 256gb doesn't leave a lot of room for storing AAA games.
Design and build; one of the reasons I went for the blade is the aluminum body, black macbook-ish design. mine is currently skinned by dbrand. Hinge doesn't wobble and I can carry the laptop one hand with the lid either closed or open.
Ports; doesn't have an sd card reader but It does have 3 usbs, 1 hdmi and a thunderbolt. will be getting a "dongle" that comes with an sd card reader to fix this. doesn't really take away from the computer.
Fan noise; It's isn't audible on light use while you're using it, if you put your ear beside it you will hear it. barely there on light gaming and pretty audible when doing max settings on recent games.
Gaming; Excellent for 1080p.
Processor: overkill for what I am currently using it for. web development and some adobe apps.
I suggest do get this if it fits your specific needs. I use this at home and outside. there is also the XPS 15 which I also considered. it is a great laptop, but don't like the webcam placement and wanted the 1060 to future proof me on upcoming games @1080p.

I had purchased the Razer Blade 14" laptop from Best Buy in late January of this year. I read the reviews about this laptop prior to purchasing it and it was definitely worth the purchase. Surprisingly, the Blade is a great gaming laptop. I was able to play Street Fighter V with no problem. The great parts about this laptop are it's slim and sleek design, the performance, and sound quality. However, when gaming or doing regular tasks on the laptop, the fan tends to get a little noisy. The fan does not sound really loud, but for a laptop it's noticeable. Also, when gaming, the fan sounds louder than normal. Of course, this is expected since it is a gaming laptop that needs to be cool. This is the reason for the 4 stars. I do recommend the Blade if you're looking for a gaming laptop that has great performance and great design. I have been complimented by many people that it looks and works better than a macbook.

I purchased the New Razer Blade 14 (1060) laptop recentyl, and I believe it offers great performance with the 1060.
I use the laptop as a desktop replacement, so I have no issues with overheating, although I know the laptop does get toasty whilst gaming.
The Blade is great for multitasking and gaming, but may be overkill for your daily needs.
Some negatives are the loud fan noise, but that's a given for the physique of the laptop. The fans are louder than expected, and even with a headset are noticeable. Definitely not good for gaming in a library. Fan noise dials down immediately after closing games, however.
I would recommend getting a skin from DBrand to protect the laptop and prevent finger prints. The keyboard is nice, and so is the screen. I have the 1080p model and it serves well.
The power brick is about the size of an iPhone 6.
Overall this laptop is great for enthusiasts, but there is still regret in my mind when revisiting the price. For the price of $1,800, I could have bought a laptop with a 1070 or even a desktop build with a 1080 and then some. But if you value build quality, prestige, and performance (although not top notch), and have the money, the Blade is a valuable prospect.

Lets start out by saying i started out with trying the MSI GS63VR. Its a great laptop but i couldn't get over the cheap feeling of it. Returned it and got this.
The Good......
-Great sturdy construction. (feels like a macbook pro)
-Keyboard is awesome. love typing on it and RGB is a plus
-The second best trackpad i have ever used. (Macs have the best by far. Would match it if the trackpad was clickable)
-NO BLOATWARE. Good job Razer
-Great screen.
-1060!!!!! will run any game at max settings
Bad....
-Cant upgrade the ram
-Finger print magnet
-could have put a better m.2 in it (replacing mine with a samsung 960 evo) The reason i purchased the cheaper version.
-No volume button (have to FN it)
-Wish the FN would light up the macro keys
-Fans run all the time. Barley audible when doing light work on it
Off Topic
-for some reason my windows was corrupted when i got this computer. Easy fix but thought i would just mention it. Not going to take away a star for that.
-Had to return my first razer blade to bestbuy. Bestbuy decided to send me an open box item while paying full price. Had to wait an extra couple days to use this awesome computer
If you are looking for something different besides an apple computer this is the way to go. I loved the feeling of the macbook but was tired of paying the price for lower specs. This computer is hard to beat for the money.

At first I thought this was the best gaming laptop I could get for my budget (almost 2000 USD). When I got it, it was really nice looking and felt well build, but after day one of installing and upgrading, the screen started blinking and never came to life again. For me, returning and waiting to get a new one back was not an option. It's frustrating that Razer doesn’t have a good quality check program for their products.

My unit had a problem with the webcam and Razer wanted to start an RMA process so instead of doing that, I just gave up on it and decided to return it.
My impressions for about a week of using it on a daily basis:
1. The finish is excellent but alas it catches fingerprint quicker than anything else I've ever seen. Its ridiculous, you either wash your hands before touching it or clean it every day.
2. I felt the fans were loud even at idle. I would have thought there would be some sort of power management built-in which could just say turn off a few cores and power everything down so you could browse the web on the go and do some basic stuff like word processing and have a stellar battery life but apparently not.
3. I played Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and it ran at ultra at 1080p around 60fps. The computer did get hot but what would you expect in something this thin and powerful.
Overall, I guess I probably would have kept it if it weren't for the faulty webcam but even so I think I would probably be better off with an ultrabook without a discrete graphics card and buying a GPU enclosure with it. How often do people game on the go anyway? I would recommend waiting for the new XPS 15 with 1050 GPU whenever that comes out and checking the reviews on that. It'll probably be better in terms of battery and thermals

After always having Alienware laptops I decided to give the Razer Blade a try, mainly for the longer battery life and light weight. I'm surprised on the build quality of this laptop, and just how nice it is all around.
I've always had good luck with Razer products and this looks like it's also going to be something I enjoy using from them. Only issues I have with the laptop are the fact that upgrading the SSD voids the warranty (it's a gaming machine, upgrades should be fine to do) and the fact that it's a fingerprint magnet (I would get a skin from Dbrand if you're thinking about picking this up)
Other than those issues, the machine is perfect. I'm also glad I picked the Full HD screen, reviews showed the QHD screen had awful colors and lag, this screen looked great when gaming, and also using programs like photoshop. Would definitely recommend this.

I purchased this laptop in November and waited to really test this laptop before giving a review. It is a wonderful piece of hardware. This has replaced my desktop that a built a couple of years ago and is absolutely amazing. I'm very happy that I went with the matte 1080P screen as battery life is quite impressive for a laptop with a 1060 in it. It runs games flawlessly with the USB-C output to my monitor. The keyboard with Synapse is quite an eye catcher as well and I've received many compliments on it's appearance. The black aluminum is a fingerprint magnet but is very easy to clean and is easily fixable with a dbrand cover. The SSD I've heard was the least impressive part of this laptop, but has functioned very well for me and speed is not a problem. It is an overall killer laptop for the price and I don't discourage anyone from buying.
