So Glad I Finally Pulled the Plug

I did countless hours of research and drove my self nuts. Read every review on every gaming laptop I could find. Came to the conclusion that every laptop manufacturer has issues. For me it came down to the MSI GS75 and the Razer Blade 15. I chose the Blade because of better build quality, better performance (Best Buy model of GS75 only has single channel ram and the GS75 GPU is the 80 Watt version), and easier upgradeability (inverted motherboard on GS75). I feel that I definitely made the right choice. Performance: The RTX 2080 MQ is a beast especially in something so thin and light. Handles everything at ultra settings with ease. Anthem, Battlefield V, Forza Horizon 4, Metro Exodus, etc... (The Blade has the 90 Watt version of the RTX 2080.) I play everything on Balanced Mode as it keeps fan noise and thermals reasonable (average CPU temps while gaming are mid to high 80's). But Gaming Mode is there if you feel the need. It overclocks the GPU for more performance at the cost of a little more heat. For either mode you also have the option of manual fan control. I've been getting Fire Strike 1.1 scores around 17560 or more in Gaming Mode with Default Fans. Build Quality: I don't think you could find a better built gaming laptop. This thing is sturdy. No flex anywhere. My display has no backlight bleed, no dead pixels, and I have not noticed any coil whine at all. Speakers sound really good too. Chroma keyboard lighting looks awesome. Nit Picks: -definitely a fingerprint magnet -Palm wrest get really warm during extended gaming (but I mostly use a controller) Overall, this is a fantastic laptop. Though, for peace of mind, I got the 3 year warranty with Best Buy. Eliminates the need to deal with the manufacturer should you have an issue and covers accidental damage. The 4K 60 Hz OLED version is coming out around the corner but I think 144 Hz is still better for gaming. If you are a content creator you may want to wait for the 4K OLED model. Hope this review was helpful.

The Most Professional Gaming Laptop Available

I'm now in my 30's and I can't lug around a 2" thick Alienware or a hunk of plastic that creaks every time you open it in my office. I can't speak highly enough about this laptop. For comparison, it looks and feels like a MacBook Pro but with Nvidia graphics so you can actually game without issues, unlike a MacBook Pro. Also, the screen not being 4K almost pushed me towards another manufacturer but I am so happy I didn't. The 144Hz screen refresh is absolutely stunning and lets you run every AAA game titles on "Ultra" settings while easily maintaining 144 frames per second. There are laptops reviews comparing this to other similar machines with RTX 2080 max q graphics but most of these are highly inaccurate. While gaming on battery the performance decreases as expected. While benchmarking the laptop and utilizing the laptop screen I scored 18k Firestrike and 13.8k 3D Graphics through PassMark's 3DMark. While utilizing an external monitor I was able to increase my Firestrike by almost 2000 and my 3D Graphics to 15.5k+ utilizing Razer Cortex and Game Mode through Razer Synapse. It performs nearly identical to the actual desktop GeForce RTX 2080 where most reviews claim all Max Q cards are much weaker versions of the full desktop card. The reason I point this out is the RTX 2080 Max Q Design in this model has 12.5% more power (90 watt vs 80 watt) than the model used inside 99% of other manufacturer's laptops which truly helps set this laptop apart from the rest. This card functions at a much higher level than any site depicts. There is also a mini-DisplayPort that can utilize the G-Sync functionality of an external monitor so you can have a complete workstation. The adaptability of this laptop with upgrade-able SSD (2TB) and memory (64GB) make it a viable machine to keep around for quite awhile. I have to say at least 1 negative so I'll focus on the finger print magnet factor. The black anodized aluminum finish shows oils from fingers VERY easily and can detract from the professional and clean look of the laptop. I HIGHLY suggest purchasing a Toastmade protective cover if you want the laptop to stand out but look professional. I would suggest Dbrand skins in matte black to benefit from protection without any additional attention on the laptop. Hands down the best laptop on the market today.

This thing is a beast! It’s a truly great and well built machine. It runs pretty quiet for a gaming laptop and is much nicer than similar models from other manufacturers. It’s worth the extra money to get such a great product.

Super nice , slim, upgraded RAM to 32 gb. Wish it was “buildable” so I could max it out but simple enough to add ram. Needs larger SSD.

Fantastic laptop! I have enjoyed using this for the past four years. It has handled every game I have thrown at it. Only thing I wish was that hard drive was bigger. I will stick with Rader as a result of this experience. I am now upgrading to the 2022 Blade 15 version with the 3080ti
