I have been using Razer products ever since I began my gaming journey and this is hands down the best headset razer has made, for me anyway. Two things that I ABSOLUTELY love above this headset are the cloth earcups and retracting mic. Those were why I bought it, and what I mainly saw from ads. But what I truly enjoyed to my surprise was the subtle lighting effects, sound quality, and extensive battery performance. Still using it and I plan on using it for a long my time.

If you can still find an older Razer Nari model, get that instead. The Kraken V4 isn’t a bad headset, but it removes almost all the quality-of-life features that made the previous generations great. The included base station is a nice idea, but realistically it doesn’t add much to the experience. In fact, several design choices take major steps backward. Previously, you could control both game and chat volume directly from the headset itself — a huge convenience. On the Kraken V4, the headset dial only adjusts game volume, and you must use the Synapse software to balance chat vs. game audio. That’s a downgrade in everyday usability. The docking base has PC, Console, and AUX inputs, but the PC and Console ports function the same, and none of them can be used simultaneously. Bluetooth is present, but surprisingly limited: it can only play external audio like music, not game audio, so it adds little value for gaming. The biggest disappointment is the removal of the 3.5mm analog jack on the headset. On older Nari models, if the USB dongle or wireless connection ever failed (which happened to me more than once), you could simply plug in a cable and keep using the headset. With the Kraken V4, the AUX port only works when routed through the wireless base — the headset itself cannot be used as a traditional wired headset anymore. That’s a massive loss in flexibility and longevity. Overall, the build and comfort are solid, and the sound quality is good — but the feature regression is hard to ignore. I genuinely wish I could have found a Nari Pro or any of the older Razer models with the full suite of pro features.

Very comfortable and great sound. I prefer the cabled version to the wireless, just because I tend to use the headphones sporadically. But Windows 11 seems to forget about hem occasionally, requiring a unplug-replug sequence.

Rgb works well but the audio is a little fidgety sometimes, ive noticed that the kraken comes with 2 outputs (game, and chat) and when playing a game such as warzone when i hage voice chat on chat and rhe game on game the audio cuts out, if you use the spatial feature you have to use both game channels for both vc and gaming. Also very comfy made of plastic but still high quality.

Got these as a gift in December. Sound quality is good. They don't like being moved from one device to another, the mic will fail to be picked up if connected to a device that is already on. Today 2.5 months later the right ear muff arm snapped when being picked up off a desk.. When they work they work. But obviously has issues. Probably only buy when on sale because youll need the protection plan.

Never had anything razer so this is the first but it’s been working really well so far and I’ve been told that the mic audio sounds a bit better than my last pair that I had.

The Razer Kraken V4 is a pretty nice headset visually and overall performance. The ability to connect with 3 separate modes such as USB Wired, Bluetooth, and Hyperspeed Wireless gives me a lot of flexibility and options on which device I'm connecting to. The Razer Triforce Titanium 40mm drivers are quite nice and offer a robust range of sound. The ear cushions are an oval shape that is made with a breathable fabric and memory foam, which allows for comfortable fit and feel for elongated periods of time. These weigh in at about 350g, so they're adequate for long gaming sessions. These have a microphone built into the left earcup, which is retractable so it can stay hidden away when not in use. The microphone is a Razer HyperClear Super Wideband Mic and works very well for clear voice pickup. I have used this for gaming and phone calls, and the receiving party can hear and understand me clearly. Built in buttons on the headphones are the volume dial, mic mute, game/chat balance, and Razer SmartSwitch button. The Razer Chroma RGB is a nice soft glow that offers a great look on camera and a nice aesthetic design. Using the Razer software online helps to give you more creativity on the RGB color and your preferences. I'm loving the THX Spatial Audio ability which works well on my Windows based gaming computer. This set of headphones is compatible with PC, Mac, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and Smartphone. The gaming headphones offer a nice balance of sound quality which allows me to feel like I'm boots on the ground in the action. I hear the raindrops, the explosions, the footsteps, and the shrapnel all in clear sharp sounds. I feel like these headphones are a great addition to my gaming sessions and I love the flexibility for using these as gaming headphones or for using them paired with my smartphone. The audio sounds great on my games, but also for my music and streaming media. Overall I really like the design, fit, and sound quality of these Razer Kraken V4.

I've been testing the new Razer Kraken V4 wireless headset with 9-zone Chroma RGB lights for the last week. Overall, these headphones are the best-sounding headphones I've tested all year. Initially, I thought the cloth ear cups and plastic body made them feel cheaper than some other headsets I've tested. However, when I put them on, I could instantly feel that they are very light, comfortable, and well-made. The earcups are a little larger, so they don't press against my ears, and the cloth is very breathable, so I don't feel my ears picking up any heat. The only drawback to the comfort is that the clamping force of the headset is looser than I like. But I do have a smaller head (7 1/4 hat size). The microphone is flexible yet still solid enough that it holds any position I bend it to. When done using it, it conveniently and effortlessly slides back into the headphone body. The RGB lights are very colorful and look great. They are also customizable using the Razer app. As for performance, they sound absolutely phenomenal. There are multiple THX spatial listening modes (Movie, Music, Game, and Custom) that can be switched with a push of a button. All the sound modes were perfectly tuned to my liking. Sound separation is top-notch, bass is satisfying, voices sound accurate, and the soundstage is 100% immersive. When connected to my PS5 via the USB-C dongle, the headphones instantly paired, and there was no lag whatsoever. Furthermore, the microphone quality was so good that I received compliments from other players. With that said, I strongly recommend these headphones. The superior sound, microphone, and comfort make these the best headphones I've tested all year.

Lately, I’ve been playing more multiplayer video games than usual. Playing single player games using external speakers is my favorite way. However, multiplayer games where communication is key, demand a good pair of headsets. The Kraken V4 gaming headset by Razer proved to be a good performer on several fronts. The first thing you notice about the Razer Kraken V4 is how comfortable it feels. It’s made of lightweight materials and the large earcups envelop the ears with minimum pressure, making it easy to wear this headset for long periods of time. The telescopic microphone retracts perfectly into the left earcup and adjusts easily for optimal communication. This model offers what Razer calls a 9-zone chroma RGB lighting where the earcups light up in different colors and can be sync with other Razer mouses and keyboards with the same functions. This feature enhances the looks and is a nice touch. The Kraken V4 can be connected in three different ways. It will connect to a smartphone, a tablet, a computer and some video game consoles via Bluetooth. Additional connections are available through USB and a 2.4 Ghz dongle that Razer calls HyperSpeed Wireless. The dongle is the connection I’ve been using for all the games and has quickly become my favorite; no lags whatsoever, and the audio quality has been great and reliable. This headset offers THX Spatial Audio that I have experienced playing some games on my gaming laptop. It’s different in a positive way, but to me, not impressive enough to be a selling point. It’s good to have though. Playing games with the Kraken V4 is real fun. The battery lasts long enough to play for hours. Recharging it after playing for a long period takes a little long to get back to full charge in my opinion. The sound quality is great and the 40mm drivers create enough spatial awareness to make some games immersive. According to my playing buddies I frequently play against, the communication through the microphone is crystal clear with minimal background noise. The volume and chat controls on the back of the left earcup are well placed and easy to use in my opinion. Look wise, the lighting of the earcups add a touch of quality however, the all plastic construction makes it feel a bit cheap as it is so light, but holding it and closeup inspection reveal good quality plastics and a solid construction. To conclude, I like this Razer Kraken V4 for its high degree of comfort and great sound quality paired with a top notch lag-free wireless connection. The all plastic build might deter those looking for a more premium feel but this gaming headset delivers premium performance where it counts.

These are by far the most comfortable headphones I have had the pleasure of using. It seems to me to be a highly durable plastic design. That is lightweight with a modern sleek look and feel to them. That is what brought me to the headphones was how they looked. The cushion around the ear cups is plenty for long hours of gameplay or listening to a podcast. The upper material is also soft and comfy not poking down on your head. All of this is a big plus in my book. I have a larger sized head so fit and comfort go a long way. What may seem comfortable after ten minutes may not be after 2 hours. I didn't have a problem with the Razer Kraken V4 headphones. The headphones come with a lot of adjustment and swivel. You can swivel the cups and rest around your neck! You get three different ways to connect the headphones. You get wired Bluetooth and a USB Dongle. While using the Bluetooth the Razer Synapse app didn't recognize the headphones. While using the Dongle the app recognized the headset. While inside the app you get some extra controls. Like RGB customization and an audio surround sound like feature. You can also select different audio modes. The microphone is ok. It will get the job done. I still advise to get a separate microphone. The Audio quality is phenomenal! While gaming I could hear all kinds of background audio cues. If you are playing a FPS shooter, these will be great for that. The crispness and audio clarity are superb. You get a little touch of Base enhancing the audio experience. Even listening to podcasts the audio was extremely clear. This gets a 10/10 for audio clarity! I am worried about the battery life. I'm not sure how long they will stay charged after long periods of use. You can randomly charge them from time to time. Another issue was while connected to the USB dongle the headphones did cut out for 10 seconds and reconnect multiple times.

This Kraken headset has the Razer’s build quality footprint. They are so well constructed that it is noticeable the moment you grab them. They have a little weight on them but surprisingly don't feel that way when worn. The padding on the headband and the ear cups are soft and comfortable. They are easy to setup by just plugging the included USB-C receiver, USB-C to USB-A cable or via Bluetooth. They work with PC, MAC, PS, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and smartphones. It has 9 customizable RGB zones on the outside of the ear cups. The microphone is concealed within the left earcup and can be pulled out. That is pretty cool. If you just want to use the headset for music listening just push the mic back into the earcup to hide it. The band does run a little big, so if you have a small head be aware. Even at the smallest setting they still feel a bit loose on my head. They are very comfortable and they sound good. I wish they had a little more bass. They are loud and I find them to be even louder when connected to Bluetooth. The sound and microphone can be customized using the Razer Synapse app. With the app you can also activate the THX feature. The microphone also picks up the voice very well and reproduces it clearly even when used on a cell phone and the mic retracted. If this your a first timer with the Razer Chroma products using the app can be a little frustrating. There are like three different apps you need to install, two of them to customize the headset. Synapse controls the settings aspects of the headset, while the Chroma app controls the colors. The other app was the Razer Cortex. The Chroma app for smartphones will not work with these headsets. Overall, these headsets look cool and sound good, great for gaming. They are very well made, and comfortable. They will blend well and sync with other Razer Chroma products. They can be used wireless or wired. In the box you get the headset, USB- C cable extension, USB-A to USB-C cable, USB-C receiver, quick guide and a sticker.

Out of the box these things had over 60% of battery power ready to go. With that being said, I initially thought that they were cheaply made, from all of the plastic in the build. However, after trying them on, I was greeted with a lot of comfort. For a person who wears glasses at least 19 hours a day, it is very imprtant that I have comfortable headphones on, because the last thing I want to are my glasses digging into my temples. These are very comfy. Set-up is really simple. Just plug in the dongle and it will be noticed immediately, or just simply turn on your bluetooth and pair them. The dongle is primarily for use on my PS5 and Switch I just pair to via bluetooth to my PC and smartphone. As with are all Razer headphones, you can't auto switch from phone calls to PC like other brands. But if you've use Razer headphones before, you are probabaly used to the by now.The box holds the Kraken v4s, a dongle, and the very nice braided cables. One for charging and other for linking your heeadphones to the dongle. The sound quality is up there with my favorite Razer headphones. And tthey sound great on phone calls and during gaming. I could hear directional footsteps while play COD BO6.( It didn't help my K.D. ratio too much, because I'm terrible. Lol!) But seriously, I do feel like I had a slight advantage over my usual sessions.The headphones also have the retractable boom mic, which is pretty cool to be able to hide that when needed and then there's the mute indicator light on the mic to remind you that you are muted. The RGBs are a cool touch when gaming, but will be a battery drainer, so you might want to go into the software and turn that off. The breathable fabric style ear cups are the game changer, though. This allows me to game comfortably for hours without overheating my ears. Yes. No sweat. Although, they do sound great and feel comfortable, I do take points off for the constant RGB and bluetooth switch over. But for the price, these are really good headphones. IMO.

I also own the Razer Barracuda X Chroma. This review is for the Razer Kraken v4, which is a step up imo except for fit. I’ll get to that below, stay tuned. Setup took an annoying amount of time as I had to download more Razer software. There are 3 modes of connectivity, Bluetooth, USB, or 2.4Ghz. There’s a USB-C dongle to connect with your 2.4Ghz, which has the smallest footprint besides Bluetooth. It comes with 2 cables, a USB-C male to USB-A male cable, and a USB-C female to USB-A male. (see photos) You turn on the headset with the power button on the side.(see photo) Pairs up fast, but again, you have to wait for the software. Volume dial on the side works great. The sound on these is what sets this apart for me, holy cow. Best quality yet that I’ve experienced personally. Sports triforce 40 mm audio drivers, and also TXS Spatial Audio. You can tweak the settings in the Razer app if that’s your thing. I didn’t find that necessary as there are different audio modes you can set when using, and they’re available at the push of a button. Movie, music, game, and custom I believe. To customize your own setting just use the Razer software dashboard. These are marked L and R on the interior of the earmuff’s; however, the orientation of the mic makes it pretty clear how to put them on. The Kraken comes with a mic that retracts into the L earmuff. (see photo) It’s very easy to move in and out, and bends incredibly easy, but most importantly stays put where you move it. Nice swivel to these headphones as well. For sure, they will fit any size head, just not tight enough. This is my one gripe as mentioned above. I never TRULY felt like these were on my ears solid. Kind of like when there’s a leak in one of your car windows while driving. It always felt like they were slightly loose no matter how I adjusted them. The audio quality didn’t really suffer for it, but I would have preferred a tighter fit. The Kraken has a 9-zone RGB lighting on the ear-cups, where the Barracuda has a 6-zone. Once again this is not a decision factor for me, therefore I don’t have much of an opinion on that aspect, apologies. There’s a mute button on the same side as the volume button. The custom audio button is on the right side as well as the game chat button. There’s a 2 year warranty which means Razer stands by their product and they’re proud of it. There’s something to be said for that as most manufacturers only offer a 1 year warranty on their products. I’m happy with these headphones, especially the audio, however I cannot recommend them as much as the Barracuda headphones, due to the fit. Very comfortable, don’t get me wrong, but not very firm fitting at all.

I've been gaming with this headset for almost a week now, mostly with my playstation 5. It is really easy to pair with the playstation 5. You connect the included usb c dongle, turn on the headset and you're off. You'll have to dig into the settings to get all audio output into the headset, if you haven't done so with your console already. But it is easy to get going. The best thing about this headset is that it is compatible with literally everything. Well... just about anything. It doesn't include a 3.5mm adapter but that is fine. Not many devices come with a 3.5mm port these days. You can pair this with your phone, tablet, Mac with bluetooth. The usb c dongle will pair it with PS5, PC, and Xbox. This headset is super versatile. A definite bonus if you have multiple consoles and devices. You'll have the most EQ control by using this with a PC as you can download software to tweak the settings, use THX Spatial Audio and more. All that being said, I think the sound quality of this headset is alright. Not the best I've ever gamed with, but it is serviceable and I think the majority of gamers will be satisfied with it. They are very comfortable, my ears never really fatigued with these on. The ear cups are soft and comfortable. They feel like they have memory foam in them, and the fabric is very soft, like a plush stuffed teddy bear. The RGB lighting, although very cool doesn't do much for me as I can never even see it on. I feel like these will be good for people who stream online along with a webcam. You'll get to add some cool ambient lighting to your live streams. The headband is also very comfortable, the headphones overall feel quite premium. I'm nit picking, but I would say the audio quality is the only thing holding these back from receiving a highly recommended mention from me. They lack bass, explosions, thuds, sound too tinny for my liking. Mid's are fine, not muddy and treble is crisp. Too crisp. I suppose they are great for competitive shooters, as you can hear every footstep around you and can tell the general direction they are coming from. But personally, I enjoy headphones that rock your skull when there is an explosion. All in All, these are very cool. I really like them. I'd buy a second pair. Playing on PC will give you the most control. Battery life is excellent and they recharge quickly. The microphone is crisp and clear. If I wasn't such an audio snob, I would give these a 5 star. IF you are like me and my friends, then I would recommend these. I own a PC, PS5, Nintendo switch, Android tablet, iPhone, and this headset is compatible with all of it!

I’ve been a fan of Razer gear for a long time. The only issue I really have with their products is the lack of support for Apple devices. Razer products do work with iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, but functionality is usually limited because their customization hub, Synapse, is only available for Windows devices. This is the only thing that kept these from getting a higher rating. That said, the Razer Kraken v4 are some of the best-sounding headphones I’ve used in a long time. I usually look at a few main areas when testing out headphones — comfort, functionality, and sound quality. Comfort: The headset is light and the earpieces are fabric-lined. The ear cushions are very plush and the padded on the headband was soft enough that I didn’t notice the headbands at all. All the controls are easy to reach, but it was a little hard to distinguish between each of the buttons only by touch. It’s easy to pull the microphone out and replace it when you are done with it. As comfortable as they are, the earpieces are not very breathable and I found my easy getting quite warm the longer I was using them. Functionality: As I already mentioned, Razer provides limited functions to Apple products, but it does have full features on Windows machines. I connected the headset using the 2.4Ghz receiver and the system set it as my input and output sound device. I downloaded Razer Synapse, the hub for all of Razer’s products, to my Surface Pro and it immediately detected the headset and gave me the option to select THX Spatial Audio in stead of the standard stereo. Then I unplugged it and connected it via Bluetooth to my iPad and was able to still enjoy the spatial surround sound feature. Razer Synapse stores settings directly into the device’s internal memory so customizations will still be accessible — even when you plug it into a different device. I learned about this little trick not too long ago with a different set of headphones and given Razer’s OS restrictions, I wasn’t sure if it would work with the Kraken’s but it did. Operation of the headset — aside from the customizations you get with Synapse — is pretty standard. You turn the headset on by pressing and holding the power button located next to the USB-C port. I noticed that it went into pairing mode right away, but you can switch the connection method by double clicking the SmartSwitch button on the left ear piece. There are only two buttons on that side of the headset and the other is the game chat/balance button, which is much longer. I still found it a little hard to discern which button was which just by feel so it would be great if there was a raised bump on it or something like that to make it easier. I love that the headset has an extendable microphone that can also be retracted when necessary. It seemed to work well and adjusting the sidetone within Razer Synapse also made it possible for me to hear myself talking in the microphone. This setting also carried over to my MacBook Pro when I switched input devices. I have been very impressed by how easy it is to switch devices by just clicking the SmartSwitch on the earpiece. Sound Quality: With the THX Spatial Audio enabled, I was incredibly surprised about how wonderful everything sounded. I watched the opening five minutes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which has a wide array of sound effects and advanced sound design layered together. This is something I use to test sound quality with headphones and there were some sounds that came through much cleared than they do on other headphones. Then, I listened to the soundtrack from the Charlie Brown Christmas, which is a much older recording and it was still very clear and well-defined. Finally, I listened to tracks from Wicked (the film version) and was shocked how much the reverberation on certain notes came through. The sound quality is pure and you have the ability to fine-tune your settings in Synapse. I think the Kraken headphones are well worth the investment. They are comfortable, built well and since settings save to the device itself, as long as you have the ability to use Synapse, you can use them on multiple devices and still have the same type of sound experience no matter what device you are using.

Coming from kraken v3 pro I do miss the hypatic features and extra bass but overall this headset is lighter, last longer wirelessly, comfortable, and sounds overall great. RGB customization is a beauty on this headset.

The Razer Kraken V4 headset is pretty awesome. The audio is very nice and you definitely get a rich experience in even standard mobile gaming. One of the things that they offer and advertise is THX Spatial audio and it's a neat immersive sound feature but that is reserved only for computer based scenarios and does require a downloaded companion app to work. Now, there are games that will automatically have the THX special audio profile, and it will work with that within the game. There is a webpage that shows all the games, around 70-80, that have this certification and so you'll get the full experience with those games. There's no mobile app solution for the THX Spatial Audio it does requires the hypersense adapter l. To change the rgb chroma settings and to do all the profiles, there's not a companion app for Android devices so again those changes can only be accessed via a computer app. I should say, there is a Razer audio app in the Play Store, however, the Kraken V4 was not one in the list of supported devices and therefore I could not get the Kraken V4 headset to sync with app. However, there is a Hello Kitty kraken version that is! As a standalone set of headphones, just watching movies through Netflix or whatever through your tablet phone etc, they do a fantastic job. Gaming sessions for a couple hours, no fatigue on your head. You do build up some warmth in your ears and Gets a little humid in there, but overall, it's a very comfortable headset. The retractable mic is a fantastic addition and definitely is my favorite feature. It's an excellent mic, but the fact that you can just retract it and push it in and it's not in the way and you don't look like a goofball watching a movie with the boom sticking out in front of you. Overall, definitely love the headset definitely tics all the boxes that I wanted it to for comfort, quality rgb lighting coolness! I highly recommend it to anybody looking to get a serious gaming headset that can also feels just like a normal set of over-the-ear headphones when you want them too.

Razer Kraken V4 wireless gaming headset The Razer Kraken V4 is a well-rounded gaming headset with excellent sound quality, comfort, and many interesting features. The THX Spatial Audio adds immersive depth when you’re playing on a Windows PC, and Its 40mm TriForce Titanium drivers deliver clear, high-definition audio on a console or PC. The versatility of this headset is quite nice; it works well with my PC and PS5, and it is pretty much plug-and-play on both devices. The Razer Synapse software on the PC added a level of adjustability to the sound and the light effects. The software has four equalizer options: Three presets and one flat line. All four equalizer options can be adjusted to your preference. The nine-zone Chroma lighting on the cans can be customized to your heart's content. This can provide some really awesome effects or some pleasantly subtle ones. The controls allow for multiple adjustments and allow the user hundreds of possible combinations. The Razer Kraken V4 wireless gaming headset provides three modes of connectivity: ultra-fast 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or a wired USB connection. While the wireless connection using a USB-C dongle and direct wired USB connections works great, using the native Bluetooth is a bit finicky trying to connect up to either the PC or gaming console. If you have a free USB slot available, choose the direct connection or USB dongle. If you do decide to use the native Bluetooth connection, then select the one labeled Kraken V4 (chat ) and not the other labeled Kraken V4 (Games). Otherwise, you will get inexplicable crackles and drop-outs. I didn’t have any issues with the direct connect or the dongle and used them for gaming, listening to music, and videos or chatting smack while on Discord. Included in the box is a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-C to USB-A adaptor for the dongle. The sound quality was exceptional. There were good bass, treble, and mid tones. All the sounds associated with gaming were clear and crisp. The sense of sound all around you was immersive; the sound behind gave a good special effect of being truly behind you. The custom-tuned THX Game Profiles for over 60 games meant little set-up and maximum sound enjoyment. This provides a 7.1 surround sound experience, and in gaming, that is what makes it exceptional, providing you with a true position of where the sound is in relation to the position you are facing. The headset is comfortable to wear for hours at a time. Memory foam in the ear cups makes them soft and ensures no pressure on the ears. They are covered in a mesh fabric that is exceptionally breathable. They also fit nicely and comfortably over glasses, to the point that you forget you are wearing them. The headset is light, and I often forgot I had them on. Because of how the headset is designed, the materials, and what seems like a custom fit, a lot of the room noise is blocked, but not to the point of blocking conversation in the room. One nice feature is the retractable microphone. It is light, and unlike other headsets, you do not notice its presence. The sound quality was good in both console games and on the PC. The solid sound quality and the internal pop filter do a lot of heavy lifting. It also manages to filter out any extraneous noise. One of the little features I appreciated was the rough texture of the on/off button, which makes it easy to find in the dark when you want to turn on or off the headset. The manual has a poor font and color combination, and it was easier to find answers and instructions online.
