We cut the cable a few years ago and have never looked back. We initially saved a ton of money cutting the cable but now all the streaming is nickel and diming us but I digress. The only complaint about cutting the chord was local news! I tried to hook up the old satellite tv mount with an OTA (over the air) passive antenna but the mount is low on the roof and as such doesn’t get all the channels in our area. The OTA antenna on the roof also degrades the signal as it is piped throughout the existing cable wires in our house which sucks. We had the existing cable with the OTA signal hooked into a DVR and could at least get a couple of channels of local news. I never considered an amplified indoor antenna before because I thought for sure the OTA roof one would be better. I was flat wrong! All that time wasted getting a big OTA antenna and climbing on my roof and coming up with clamps to attach it to my old satellite base… When all I needed was this compact and powerful RCA indoor antenna!!! The quality of the picture was also notably better! So the RCA antenna has a “smartboost” technology that takes a weaker signal and boosts it. Not sure of the science but am 100 percent sure of the results. The first scan for channels added 5 channels to my old capacity and now I get 18 channels total. Then I turned off the “smartboost” off just to see how many I could get. It was dramatic. The strength and quality of the signal of ALL my channels increased (see pics). Keep in mind that moving the dipoles does effect which channels you might get so you have to play around to optimize the channels you get. They also have an app that will help you place the Antenna to get the best reception based on your location. I also really like the low profile of the design and that they include a coaxial cable out of the box. Another thing to consider is you will need to plug in the RCA for the “smartboost” which means you need an outlet near your tv that is not taken up with another device! Highly recommend for chord cutters and streamers alike that want the best quality picture and to have local channels for news! Great product!

Very well built antenna to get OTA (over the air) free channels. Construction is sturdy and stays on its wide feet. It has two telescopic metal antennas, like the old days, I guess it helps with reception. Setup was very easy, with the help of their RCA signal finder app. Just download it from the app store, input your address and using your phone's compass/gps it will help you find the location of your local transmitting stations, that way you can point the antenna to that direction and get the best possible signal. I did and my tv found almost 70 stations, some I didn't even know existed. It comes with an ac adapter, that powers the antenna's amplifier and a blue led that indicates power (it does have an bypass switch on the back, in case you don't want to use the amplifier, thus not having to unplug it, just flip the switch). In all, very sturdy and well built antenna, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap way to get free HD channels!

This antenna is exactly what I needed, and even though some of the over 50 channels I receive are not perfectly clear reception, I do get all the main channels without any problem. Also, I did not need the amplification provided, and simply disconnected that part (which I could later add again for additional TV reception). The Best Buy support I received when making the purchase was excellent, and very helpful.

I will be buying a second one of these to replace the bedroom's RCA flat digital antenna which constantly has me up and down on my ladder trying to find reception. I love that with this one I don't have to move the box itself much to get better reception and only adjust the antenna "ears" most times. Occasionally a channel will come in a little fuzzy, but usually clears up to a nice crisp picture in a few seconds. I do get annoyed with occasionally having to make adjustments when I switch between my two favorite network channels. They will both work for a few days then I have to adjust when I switch back and forth. But I'm guessing that has more to do with interference than the antenna. But hey, I'll take a little inconvenience instead of a cable bill!

Regarding the RCA ANT1268E amplified TV antenna. This is packaged in the colorful claim festooned box stating USA in large letters next to smaller fine print stating that it is “Designed and Engineered in the USA”. The device package purports to allow viewing network TV from many popular networks now appearing on most cable and satellite TV services. What this antenna will allow anyone with good digital signals is to receive what are called “local” TV channels that transmit over the air and which need a “boost up” to improve the picture and sound quality on home televisions. I ordered this to determine if our location has signals that could be improved by using an amplified antenna. We have previously tried a non-amplified antenna and were not successful in seeing any channels in our area; this was probably due to our being at the bottom of a hill and adjacent to a small creek indicating that we were at the lowest point in our hilly area. Being amplified, this antenna is supplied with a tiny power adapter that plugs into the base of the unit to power the amplifier circuit; if it is switched on with the back panel switch the amplifier activates a blue status light on the front. It also comes with a length of coax cable that connects both to the amplified RCA antenna and to the coax connector on a TV. Sadly for us, we found out that the antenna didn't want to pick up any channels no matter where or how it was placed or in which direction it was pointed. This didn't change even when it was placed near the window. We basically have no signal where we are due to the hills. There is NO Alexa, Hey Google, or Siri Apple home smart home control on this device. It is actually made in China.

Saving $50 per month on cable by getting free local channels. It matters where you put the antenna in your house because direction matters. Works great. Easy set up.

Fairly good reception for the money. I installed on an interior break room's tv in a large high rise office building approximately 15 miles from most TV broadcast towers. After autoscanning, the TV picked up about 50 digital channels. Most of them were sub-channels with random programming, but I was able to bring in stable broadcasts of all the major networks (e.g. ABC, CBS, FOX, CW). I could rotate the antenna and pick up NBC, but it dropped almost all the other channels. I honestly was impressed that it could pick up anything in an interior room in the middle of a large office building. This provided the perfect reception for ambient background TV in a staff break room without having to pay for cable or streaming services.
