Have been using this receiver for 2 months now and its working pretty well. The reception is good, and the number of channels available through the system is great. The downsides include price and lack of reception is you are using a phone next to this item!

I originally had a simple RCA antenna before returning it for its amplified cousin. You still have to take some effort to position the antenna, but after that it works just fine and picks up all the over-the-air HD channels.
As a side note: it still gets skippy when it's raining or snowing outside, but if you're going to cut your Cable you have to accept there will be a few side effects.

need to reposition for each station

The antenna provides excellent reception for the channels I am able to receive. However, due to my location, reception depends heavily on the position of the antenna as I constantly need to re-position the antenna foe each station. This is not very practical since I don't have the space available for positioning the antenna. Unless your general reception is good I would not recommend this antenna. Will be purchasing an omni-directional antenna.

This antenna is a standard amplified antenna. It allows you to get all the local stations and does an alright job. I still have issues with the signal dropping and happens frequently. Overall this antenna gets the job done and works good for a budget antenna. If you have the money go with a better antenna.

Tried other antennas and none brought in all the channels. This one provided a better picture plus all channels and more. Small and effective - we also live in a rural area. Good product for the price.

BEST antenna I've tried BY FAR!!

I tried MANY HDTV antennas and the last two before this were an $80 Terk and a $9 RCA. The $9 RCA was good for the money, but it had no amplification. As I live in a basement apartment, some channels were horrible, but once I got this RCA and placed it in a window with gain settings on maximum< I got 15 analog and 32 digital channels!! I deleted the analog ones and the HD channels are BEAUTIFUL!!! I got this antenna on sale for $30, so it was money well spent.

This antenna replaced an antenna that broke. This antenna is WORLDS better than the one it replaced. This is in a high traffic area where busses that use radios to communicate with the main terminal are picking people up all day. There is only minor skips instead of several minutes of not being able to see or hear anything by lines and squares. I would recommend this to EVERYONE.

I bought a Toshiba LCD HDTV recently but was just watching DVD's, playing XBox 360 and streaming videos from my laptop... No cable, no satellite, no live TV. I decided I'd give an antenna a try. This RCA model was the first one I bought, mostly because of the advertised signal amplification.
This Sunday I'm watching crystal clear HDTV football on Fox and CBS, perfect picture 1080i and 720p. I may just be in a good location, a 3rd floor apartment across from Sutro tower. The VHF analog (don't care about that any more) reception here stinks though, but the digital channels all come in great. Get Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, The CW, PBS (4 channels). I get a total of 30 digital channels that I want to watch, plus a couple I don't care about. I really didn't think just buying a $40 antenna would get me that much, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I went to Best Buy and purchased 4 antennas since I knew each will produce different results... tried them one after another. they all had poor quality and didn't pick up channels I usually get w/ analog.
I then tried the RCA amplified indoor antenna and boy was I IMPRESSED!! I received CBS, NBC, KTLA, ABC, KCAL, FOX and KCOP, all of which are pretty darn clear. on top of these channels, there were about 20 more channels.
I paid $40 for this product and after seeing the results and comparing it to other antennas, I would have paid double!

Does what it was designed to do

I have two of these antennas, and I am perfectly happy with their performance, however one of the units seems to have a stronger gain amplifier than the other. That's why I marked quality control under the cons section. But even so both units function well. As an amateur radio operator, I haves spent a lot of time studying antenna theory and must point out that there is no magical antenna out there. No indoor antenna, no matter how expensive will pull in signals better than an outdoor one, and all the antenna gain and electric gain amplifiers in the world will do little good if the antenna is not up high and in the clear. Other factors come into play as well, like metal siding, metal buildings and electrical interference when evaluating an antenna. That's why one person can have great results with a certain model of antenna and another person have terrible results with the same antenna. If you wish to spend a lot of money on one of those super high gain directional indoor antennas like a Terk, you would be much better off spending it on a good outdoor system. That being said, these antennas do exactly what they were designed to do. They pull in the local stations, both digital and analog reasonably well for the price.

Easy set-up for free channels

My wife and I have abandoned satellite television for streaming tv. However, we still need to have our local television channels for weather emergencies. This digital plug-in allows us to do just that.
In just a few minutes time we have a couple dozen new channels to watch. Now, you have to remember these channels are local. This isn't a great group of free channels. Yes I get NBC and PBS. I get CBS sometimes. I have never found FOX. And I get a WHOLE lot of televangelist religion channels I would never want to watch.
If local is something you need, this is a good practical purchase. Just don't be confused about free channels being good channels, because they won't be.

Great Reception, Good Buy

The video reception is perfect - I havent had one issue with reception yet (its retained great reception during storms). My only problem is, it is a bit pricey - it should be closer to $20 and not $40.
I live in a densely populated suburban area - so reception shouldnt be hard to get, but non-amplified antenna doesnt work well in my area, so i'm glad i picked up the amplified antenna.
Overall, if you're looking at a cheap non-amplified antenna, do yourself a favor and spend the extra bucks to get this amplified antenna, you won't regret it.

This product has enhanced the signal on the major digital netowrk channels FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS. I had gotten a $10 digital HDTV tuner antenna and I picked up the digital HD network channels but the problem was that there was a blotchy signal... it would break up and the picture would freeze and unfreeze and it just was annoying. So far after purchasing this product... I have since rescanned for channels and this amplified antenna has picked up 45 digital channels compared to 16 with the $10 antenna... most of them are the spanish channels but thats ok some of them are HD so its pretty to watch. Every once and awhile the signal will stutter and than it lasts only a split second. I can deal with that.
I would highly recommend this HDTV Amplified Antenna for your HDTV if you do not have cable. This is a great product and I am happy with the performance thus far. I have only had it for one day but I am already happy with the improvement it has made in the signal and picture.

A Tad Frustrating

I do like this product but it is a tad frustrating as regards manipulating the antennas to provide a clear picture. I'll see some stations and then they may drop out and have to re-arrange the antennas. BUT it is FAR better than paying for cable since the vast majority of cable programming, to me, does not warrant the money. How many "reality" shows can one endure ? ! This item is worth the minimal cost.

This antenna is great. I use it for in my room. When I first hooked it up, I only got 4 channels and was pretty disappointed. But the trick to getting more channels is to put it near or just outside of a window, and also do a channel scan which gave me about 80 channels. This is a great product for its price, and an excellent alternative to cable and sattellite bills.

Good VHF reception

I bought a Terk FDTV2A indoor antenna a few days ago. It would not receive the only local channel broadcasting in VHF. I took it back and bought this unit since its gain was so much greater than the Terk. It received the VHF channel clearly...and also picked up a few others that the Terk did not receive (same position, pointing approximately 310 degrees). This one is a keeper.

My HDTV does not have an internal antenna so I needed an external one for when cable goes out or if a local station is dropped from cable coverage. This antenna is attractive, does not take up much space, and is easy to connect in just a couple of minutes. Since I live within city limits, I was able to get over 13 digital channels and reception was excellent. If you need a basic HD antenna and live where several digital signals can be received, this is an excellent choice.

CHICAGO (Suburbs) - Tons of HD Channels

The RCA - Amplified Indoor Off-Air HDTV Antenna is a great option for those who desire to eliminate their cable bills. It's easy to install. Make sure you set your TV to receive Antenna (from Cable).
The amplifier is great for receiving CBS (one of Chicago's hardest channels to receive).
You'll have virtually all of the channels from Xfinity Basic Cable except:
TV Guide Network,
Access TV
TV One
Bravo
KBC TV
Polvision
Azteca America
Estrella TV.

Glad I purchased this antenna. It does what I need it to do. I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for cable when I don't need to. I rarely watch TV, only when girlfriend insists. I prefer to stream netflix. It catches more channels than I anticipated, 30 on a good day. Sometimes reception gets poor and can only catch 10. I read on a review that a cookie sheet placed behind antenna helps and tried it and it does make it better.

The amplified antenna works well in urban settings, near digital stations. A good deal for the price and a good alternative to cable.
