THIS RCA AMPLIFIED INDOOR HDTV ANTENNA IS POPULAR

This model of RCA Amplified Indoor Off-Air HDTV Antenna is amongst the most popular, and most affordable, of such necessary products. The popularity is partially due to the low price and partially due to it not being as obvious as some other models. As stated above, the reception is good to very good, but not excellent. Clearly defined, I'll attempt to quote a review, which I had read at the time I needed such a product for my new purchase of a Samsung HDTV, and to the best of my recollection it was indicated that "when it does receive those broadcasted channels, the reception is fantastic". I clearly recall that Best Buy store location salespeople were highly encouraging to sell this model, offering to hold onto it if I would purchase it within two days. However, in my perception, dependability of reception is the actual purpose for an antenna. It had been, principally, for this sensible reason that I chose to spend just a little bit more to purchase a different model, which, unfortunately, I cannot seem to locate on the Best Buy website, at this present time. I can strongly assert that it is beyond reasonably dependable and manufactured by a company on behalf of GE. While its reception of those off-air broadcasts is not consistently perfect, as a usual effect of inclement weather conditions, my family and I are favorably impressed and satisfied by that antenna model we had purchased, instead of this one. Further, even though this RCA model may easily blend into your décor, the model we chose is pleasant in appearance, regardless. A worthy note is that this, and other similar models, function best in areas where there's no blockage of signals by large concrete or steel structures, surrounding cables, etc. All that having been expressed, I certainly am not opposed to this RCA product, and, if it satisfies your preferences, then you should go ahead and purchase it. You never know, and, for this price, it is worth a try. You may find it enjoyable.

We gave up cable over a year ago for a number of reasons. One of which the cable almost always went out when it rained heavily. Truthfully I missed being able to watch network TV and the Olympics gave me one more reason to purchase antenna. After researching on fcc.com and reading reviews I selected this antenna.
Within 30 mins of attaching the antenna I had 13 channels which included all three network channels, two pbs stations and a few channels not available on cable. Two of the network stations are HD and about 30 miles from my house. The third is 40 miles away and needed a little tweaking of the rabbit ears to keep the station from blacking out. And today the weather today has been heavy rain and thunderstorms.
I live in a neighborhood with trees and two story houses and placed the antenna eight feet away from the TV and about five feet off the floor.
The antenna has a switch to turn off the amplifier and without the amplifier I have zero receptions. Very glad I spent the extra $20 on the amplified antenna. Absolutely love the fact that I am still free of the cable company and can get the three networks!

I don't like it
but
26 channels from Terk non amplified
29 channels from Terk amplified
33 channels from RCA amplified
I could not believe it. Its better than my 2 older RCA and my Terk. Not just in signal strength but the quantity of channels received.
Now
My intention was to do the test and return this junk RCA antenna but the jokes on me. It works
and
It works so well that it made little difference in the way I twisted and turned the antenna.

I just changed to satelite TV service and I was disappointed that my local channels were not in HD. I started looking into an antenna and at first I figured I would go as cheap as possible and hope for the best. That was not a good idea. Even though I live right in the center of Sioux Falls, SD, reception with a non-amplified antenna was horrible. Thanks to the Best Buy return policy, I took my original purchase back, asked a few questions of the sales staff, and I purchased this amplified antenna. Took it howm , plugged it in, and I was still not happy with the reception. Then I found the gain control. What a difference!!! I am now watching all my local network stations in crystal clear HD, pulling in two HD stations from PBS, and also getting the local CW in HD. This is a great antenna for my location.
The manufacturer should really change the package or slip a short instruction sheet in the box to tell us poor consumers about the gain control

I already had an antenna, but I did not receive all of the channels. In particular, I could not tune in 11.1 and 11.2. I was frustrated by this, having spent the money on a brand new digital tv. The salesperson recommended this antenna to resolve that problem and now it works great. It was worth the extra money, because now the tv gets all of the channels that I would like to see.

I live in San Francisco, just a few miles from most broadcast towers.
I purchased this antenna with the hope of getting an HD signal for the superbowl. It pulled in some channels, but with interference on almost every one. The interference was such that either the audio or video would drop for several seconds at a time or more, making the TV unwatchable. It didn't seem to matter whether I used the optional signal boost or not.
In frustration, I plugged in my old standard antenna that I bought for less than $10 and it worked like a dream. I got more channels, and even better, when there was interference, it was mainly just pixelation or lasted for a second or less. I returned the RCA and am still using the bargain antenna with no complaints.
PS - if you need advice about how to adjust your antenna to get good reception, go to http://www.antennaweb.org, it will tell you exactly where the towers are and how to orient your antenna

I bought this for my digital TV upstairs and it works great. Some large electrical appliances mess with the reception and I have to move it around some on cloudy days. Bought another for our TV in the basement and I get one more channel than upstairs.

This antenna works great for me. I receive all the major networks in HD and even some unusual channels I didn't expect to see. I'm sure many consumers did not bother to read the instructions that come packaged with the product that recommend visiting AntennaWeb.org to assist you in directing the antenna in the appropriate direction. After visiting that website I plugged the antenna into my 42" HDTV and received all the channels I would expect to see. Great product for me, so I'd definitely recommend to anyone else.

We live 25 miles outside the city, so we we're sure we would be able to get any channels on the antenna. We got most of them. Overall, we are happy with our purchase.

This is a very good HDTV off-air antenna for the price and the channels it gets. The set-up instructions are fair and the remote has no lighting for the controls, but overall I am very please with the product. It serves its purpose. The reception is good. RCA generally makes (in my opinion) good products...I would certainly recommend the product.

Hooked it up to the TV and had to mess around for a while to get even one channel but once you figure out where to point it, the channels come easy. One thing I found that helped the signal was placing the antenna arms somewhat close together, like 6-8 inches, if farther apart, the signal would be lost. Not sure if this would be for everywhere. I live in a suburb so not too sure how it would work for rural areas.

I have two televisions with a satelite connection and one television which only had a cheap pair of rabbit ears. I couldn't pick up but two of the five channels available in my area as they are 18-30 miles away. When I added the RCA amplified antenna I was able to get all of my local channels in clear digital picture. This is well worth the money.

I was looking to improve my digital converter box's signals with this antenna. I live in a close city suburb, with major digital broadcasts within 10 miles. It seemed to work better without the poles being used, but overall was a major disappointment. It received a total of 4 channels, which were very clear, however with movement in the house and/or outside would cause the reception to become unstable 25% of the time. For the price I paid, $40.00, I did not find this to be an acceptable piece of quality equipment. It's being returned as soon as my RCA flat antenna arrives!

I do not have or want cable so I needed something to improve reception on a few channels. When I went into Best Buy I found this one and a less expensive model. This model looked like it would do a better job on improving reception so I spent the extra to get it. While my reception is still not perfect it is greatly improved over what it was with no antenna.

I have had either Cable or SatelliteTV for better than 25 years. I love my sports channels and some movie channels. However, now with DTV and Fox locked in contract wars, I could not watch my Seahawks games (without spending $200 to watch NFL games), nor could I get other sports programs on SWX. Plus, whether its cable or satellite, there are times when their systems are down or weather stops reception. I decided to fight back. I purchased this RCA amplified HD 1080i indoor antenna after doing some research and on recommendation of the Best Buy sales associate. Set up was so simple I actually remarked, " is that it? Nothing more to do"? I simply turn the satellite box off, and switch to TV mode. I have an HD LCD TV that sits in a room with a Southern exposure. I only spent about 10 minutes finding the best place and antenna adjustments for optimum reception and I was frankly "wowed" by the reception. The HD broadcasted channels are sharp and clear (some actually better than with the dish). Also, having not had standard over-the-air reception for so many years, I also surprised at how many stations there are that I could watch without paying for cable or dish. Now if cable or satellite systems are down I can still watch area TV broadcasts. If it weren't for my sports and some movies, think I would revert to just the over-the-air tv and save a bundle of money every month. The graphite/grease on the antenna is there for a reason from the factory, but I too was not expecting it. My fingers got a little dirty, but washed off easy and I just wiped down the antennas so no big deal. Remember, the farther away you are from the transmitters and the more hills/mountains/obstructions there are in the way, the harder it will be to get quality reception from any INDOOR antenna. If you live many miles away and/or with hills and mountains in the way, then don't expect any INDOOR antenna to perform as well as an OUTDOOR antenna. But for where I am, and for about $40, this works excellent! Money well spent.

Works fine. Need to adjust ears ever so often. Was surprised at how many channels it picked up. I would spend the extra 25 dollars and get the amplified RCA anntenna. We have it upstairs and it seems to pick up about 14 more channels

Someone I know lives in Penn Hills, PA and gets great reception. Someone else in Butler, PA got no reception. After reading online, it depends on where you live for what type of reception you may get. I believe it's not the fault of the antenna if it doesn't work in all areas.

The digital over the air signals are much more finicky than the analog was. I have to re-adjust antenna position constantly from one station to the next. Signal is interrupted easily by the wind, helicopters, etc.
Not entirely the antenna's fault, but I would've purchased a less expensive one for the reception I'm getting.
