There must be a short in this cord because after the third use it has never worked again and I don’t think it’s the device because everyone I know has the same problem. For some reason it won’t connect to my audio.

I just needed an adapter to take the LINE OUT from my mixer (TRS) into my iPad’s external microphone jack (TRRS). I was thinking that I’d have to invest in an iRig product (and software) or a dedicated USB microphone plus adapter for the iPad. But I stumbled upon this simple and inexpensive adapter. It worked as expected out of the box...., although I had to adjust the output levels from my mixer to prevent the clipping that occurred initially. But that wouldn’t be the adapter’s issue by any means.
Upon removing it From the box it came in, is that the cord looked and felt very thin and light, and I have doubts about it’s durability. But, the jury’s still out on that topic until later. But this adapter does the trick and inexpensively. There was another similar product that I saw on the internet that has a third jack to plug headphones into so that you can listen/monitor real-time. I should have bought that one instead only because I’ve found that I have to unplug this adapter from my iPad in order to hear the playback. I could listen from my mixer, but my levels have to be turned down so much that nothing comes through on the headphones.

This piece of hardware, for as little is asked of it, simply does not perform. Initial test performed with the 3.5mm junction on a laptop. The minispeaker, when connected directly, performed well. With the adapter in the circuit, there was no audible signal, no sound of any kind. Disappointing
