I loved this movie as a kid and still do. Val Kilmer is perfect as the sarcastic know-it-all. The kid Mitch is a little whiny but you get over that. Lazlo (Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite!) is weird and someone you root for. A little dated but still hilarious. Recommended for all nerds and lovers of 80s movies!

One of Val Kilmer's earlier works, Real Genius is an older comedy that doesn't quite stand the test of time in 2017, but still merits watching if you haven't seen it or haven't seen it in awhile and are a Kilmer fan.

I'm one of those guys who loves cheesy 80's movies. But this is a classic and one of Val Kilmers better acted movies..

fun characters and good story line. root for the smart kids against the teacher and military.

When I see this movie, it takes me back to 1985, Great Movie!

Real Genius centers around the characters of Chris knight (Val Kilmer) And Mitch Taylor (Gabriel Jarrett) who are tasked with certain job responsibilities that tie into their employment for the government. They study in college together and also become unlikely but fast friends. Chris knight also gets Mitch Taylor to enjoy life more and come out of his social shell.

Classic comedy with clever ideas and characters. Has lots of replay as well. I saw this in the original release and many times since.

One of my all time favorites, Val Kilmer is funny and does a great job. The soundtrack is also a +, and if you miss the 80's and love the movies from back then, then this is truly one to get.

This movie is pretty funny. I enjoyed watching it. Overall a good movie.

'Real Genius' was something of a disappointment to me. It's not an awful film in any sense, it just fails to provide laughs when the film really needs them, and is therefore somewhat bland in my opinion. Fans will be happy to see this in its original 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio.
