I bought this item to use a remote with a cable box that was behind a wall, and in order for it to work, you have to point the remote directly at the correct side of the receiver, and you have to put the transmitter directly in front of the cable box. That receiver/transmitter has to be right out in the open to work, antennas up, and they're pretty ugly. An infrared extender (basically headphone wire with a receiver at the end) is much better. They receive from a greater range, they're small and can be hidden easily. You just have to have a box with an infrared input.

Works decent. There is sometimes a delay in changing channels.

I purchased these because the house we moved into has a cabinet around the corner from the TV for all of my AV items. This extension works with all of it including my Apple TV. Make sure you read the instructions and you will not be disappointed.

This product did exactly what we wanted, It allowed us to put the HDTV set top box under our bed. You do need to point the remote directly at the transmitter so I mounted it next to the TV. Works great! I am thinking about doing the mod that was suggested in the first review.

I have tried these infrared accessories before with not too much success. With this unit, I can close the doors on the cabinet and all components work perfectly. Very professional assistance from Best Buy staff also.

This was exactly what we needed. We are using this in our 40ft 5th wheel RV where the DVR, Sound System, DVD and DirecTV was inside a cabinet. We were opening the cabinet door to use the remote. With this we can keep the door closed and operate all the devices. One suggestion to find where the sticky back buttons go, keep moving your finger across the face of the device while turning on/off or volume up/down with the remote. When it quits reacting you are in the right spot. Remove the sticky and place the button.

I purchased this item to control a 2nd room using my Harmony Home Hub. It sends a signal through the wall, and I am now able to control both rooms. Setup was very easy--just plug in both units. The only problem I've run into is the ability to change channels/volume using Alexa when both TVs are on--which is an issue with Harmony activities and not this product. There is a work-around using zones, and I plan to explore it when I have some extra time.

I recently purchased a new RF remote from Harmony. Unfortunately, the simple remote did not have IR on it. Since my equipment is in a media closet, the Harmony Hub could not send a signal to my wall-mounted tv. I saw the Terk unit and since the price was right, I gave it a shot. Boy, am I glad that I did. It works well and completely solved my issue. All you have to do is plug the units in, extend the antenna and point them in the direction you need. If you have remote equipment and need an inexpensive but stable RF-to-IR blaster, buy the Terk.

I have tried a lot of these and so far by far these are the best I have used. They don't need to be in perfect alignment or anything. Just work great!

The unit does the job. The only "problem" seems to be the range of pickup of the unit. That is, you can't have your remote that far from the transmitter. In my case, you have to be within 8 feet for the Cablevision remote signal to be picked up. The transmitter is about 6 feet from my side of our king bed and it works fine for me but my wife [nor I] can't get it to work from her side. I know that it is not the remote, since I have a Radio Shack setup in another room about forty feet away and Cablevision remote transmission will be picked up and change the channel in there.

Set up unit as directed, however, sender unit does not refer signal to next room.

I wanted to move my cable box out of sight but within the same room so bought this product. Since the package said it would work through walls in a multi-room use, I thought for sure the component that works with the remote could deal with the arm of a chair...nope it doesn't. That component has to be in a direct line of sight with the remote so I have to move the component around as I sit in different chairs or different parts of the couch. Since the price is so low, I am keeping it until a better product comes along.

This works perfect. Currently we have this set up in our living room and it makes people wonder how we are changing the channel because the device is so sleek.

This was a nice compromise for our bedroom instead $250 harmony remote system. It was priced right and allowed us to hide our DVD player and cable box in the closet behind the tvs location. You do have to have one of the sensors by the tv to point the remote at, but it is by no means large or hideous. It has served its purpose without being overly expensive or requiring recharging.
