    Better Than the remake

In the heartland of the United States of America, Russian and Cuban paratroopers begin to drop outside while classes go on in the high school. When the soldiers begin killing everyone in sight, local teens take to the hills to avoid the new totalitarian regime established in their little town and, as we later learn, throughout the world. As country folk, they are well familiarized with survival tactics and hunting, which allows them to carry out sophisticated acts of military sabotage, upsetting the balance of power in town with their guerilla warfare.

This movie is not bad but it’s not great either . It’s a little cheesy but sometimes cheesy is OK . I mean come on high school kids versus the Russians what’s next . Enjoy

Another Brat Pack movie that has not lived up to memory. Though nostalgic, definitely flawed.

I watched this movie as a teenager and it brought me back to my youth and how our fear of the Soviet Union out weighed anything else. The thought of a conflict with them was expected to be of the nuclear variety, but invasion was a very scary thought indeed. Lots of the stars in this movie got their start or were at the beginning of their careers. Charlie Sheen, Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, and C. Thomas Howell were just young stars when they made this movie. I'll pop it in now and then just to take me back to my youth.

    80's Classic!

There isn't much I can say about this 80's classic that hasn't already been said. If you haven't seen it, do yourself (and your movie collection) a favor and just buy it. I know there was a remake of this movie a few years ago-which I have yet to see, so I can't comment on that one. But, as for the original...again, add it to your collection and enjoy!

80’s Milius Cold War Fear We All Felt

Although Milius was dubbed a right wing Warhawk for this film, it hit the pulse of American youth in the early 80’s. Cast is great in this classic, one of Powers Boothe’s finest roles. Well done and demonstrated the fear that we all really had in 1984. My first Blu-ray copy had a defect in manufacturing about 2/3rds of the way into the film. Replaced with another copy no issues.

Someone recommended me this movie so I bought it. The idea is vey interesting and I hope it will never become a reality. I have noticed many small mistakes that actors made. This movie looks like it is one of the low budget movies. I understand that it is from 80’s but I expected something better from the scenario, director and actors. Yet, still recommend to see!

This is the original movie released in 1984 featuring quite a few young actors that went on to make it big like Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Grey, Harry Dean Stanton and William Smith to name a few. Excellent acting (not overacting) and realistic visual effects.

While the recent remake of Red Dawn was a good movie, this one is a classic. The characters and story draw you in and make you believe this could happen at the time of the setting. The actors in this version have gone on to bigger roles but the parts they played in this movie seem like they were written for them. You truly care about the characters.

I like both movies, the original and the remake. It’s crazy to think a bunch of high schoolers take over and protecting their home. And movies like this always make me think about the future. Like “will the world end like this” But that’s crazy right.

Great story of survival and victory. Patriotic, but not over the top. Great to see many now famous actors in early roles. Much better than the one made recently. The original is a much more serious movie that has a real ending. Not the perfect movie, but one that seems to really capture the real life feeling of the late seventies and early eighties.

The original that seemed to launch so many young careers in Hollywood. The story is a little dark and gritty and not as bubble gum as the remake. Acting is pretty good and the scenery is beautiful. This story ends, unlike the remake that tries to set up a sequel. I enjoyed it very much.

Grew up watching this movie and loving it. Still holds up today especially with the way things are in the world this could actually happen. Great cast and another great release in the Shout Select line. Plus it was on sale for 12.99 with slipcover so definitely worth it.

Too be honest mostly for fans who grew up in the 80's. Very much an 80's movie but for those who love this movie worth it. Other then the new interview (not with all the original cast) the disk is about the same as the last release. Really needs a new scan from print but still good quality for an movie over 30 years old now.. wow let that sink in.

A classic, doesn't get many stars from the movie people but i have always liked it for what it is. An interesting tale about young people and how they stepped up when things were going bad. If you just want to have an enjoyable time and not looking for some amazing effects or something else to keep yourself interested this is good...especially if you get it at a good price.

So many movies from the 80s we’re all about America America America and it was always one man versus all of Russia this movie took a more “realistic” Approach less about the country and more about the individual and it’s way better than that cheesy remake

It reminds me of when I was a kid and first saw this movie thinking this could really happen. Kind of sad but true. Worth watching again and again. Well acted by some of the young future stars in the movie.

This is the original Red Dawn movie about the Russian's attacking America. This is a really good movie with some popular actors when they were younger.

It's a cult classic for a reason. First of all - look at that cast! Then the dialogue...is really bad, and really good. Also John Milius - the best writer/producer of male movies in the 1970's and 1980's. WOLVERINES!

This movie is one of my all time favorites. The actors are all headliners on their own and then when you put them together it just makes a great action packed movie. I also loved the fact that this price is over half off what I would have paid at a local discount store.
