Bring back lots of memories
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Red Dawn is one of my favorite movies of the 80s. Watching it today, it still holds up pretty well despite a couple of rough edges. It features a all-star cast with Swayze, Sheen, Michael-Hall as well as Powers Boothe in their heyday. I remember seeing Red Dawn in the 80s and one of the reviews stated that the story was based on a fantasy of Russian and Cuban soldiers invading the United States. Looking at the current times, that story isn't so far-fetched now especially considering the decadent state of Washington and the horrible mess that is the White House. 5* brought back some fantastic 80s memories and made me miss Patrick Swayze and Powers Boothe.

Red Dawn - Still Relevant
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just drove through the Las Vegas, NM where this was filmed in the 80’s. The town is still standing but the wildfire has sadly burned 300,000+ acres of the forest and is still burning. It motivated me to buy & watch the film again. The movie is a classic and relevant still in today’s America. All the bonus interviews & making of extra footage make this blu-ray edition worth buying if you own and liked the original film on VHS, Laser Disc, or DVD. “Wolverine's!!!”

The 1st is the Best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 13 year old son kept raving about the "new" Red Dawn. I told him to sit with me and watch this version and if he liked the new one better I would watch the new one. Needless to say - I haven't seen the new one yet. :) If you were a kid in the 80's like me then you know that this movie was something that in the back of all of our minds could happen. I know that I wanted the commies to attack my school so we could fight back. Our mascot was the Rams so it wouldn't have been near as cool as shouting "Wolverines!". Anyway - very good movie and I was thrilled to watch it again after all of these years.

What is the Price of Freedom - the answer is here.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the lead acting troop was relatively young their acting skills were both competent and believable – thus their satisfying viewing experience. The Stage Setting – It’s early Winter late September in central Colorado and gasoline is selling for $126.9/gallon back in 1984. This is a story of high school kids turned guerrilla and hardened by unconventional warfare against Communist armed intruders. September – April they fought with their will, their heart, and anything they could savage off the battlefield – until they expended themselves. The film touches the core of America – freedom at any price.

Wolverines!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 1986 Red Dawn is an '80's classic which everyone should see. It's surprisingly topically for the times and has some great lines, scenes, and performances. Nearly every actor in the movie is recognizable from something, from Bodhi to Lorraine McFLy and Jeannie Bueller, to Brett (from Alien) and Mickey (from P ee Wee's Big Adventure). This Shout! Factory Blu-ray release has some nice extras and excellent packaging, especially if you can get ahold of one with a slipcover. The inside cover is also reversible from the Shout design to the original poster. I recommend this release to any one who doesn't already own the original Red Dawn on Blu-Ray.

Original is better!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the heartland of the United States of America, Russian and Cuban paratroopers begin to drop outside while classes go on in the high school. When the soldiers begin killing everyone in sight, local teens take to the hills to avoid the new totalitarian regime established in their little town and, as we later learn, throughout the world. As country folk, they are well familiarized with survival tactics and hunting, which allows them to carry out sophisticated acts of military sabotage, upsetting the balance of power in town with their guerilla warfare.
