One of the very best video games I've played in the past 20 years. I'm on my third time through. Large collections of guns, wildlife, gangs, scenery, plants, etc. etc. I bought a copy for my grandchildren last year, so I decided to buy another copy for myself!

I’ve been waiting for this game since the first one came out around 8 years ago. This game is visually breathtaking and the scale is crazy big. So much to do, missions, hunting legendary animals, finishing for legendary fish, rob stage coaches. You name it you can probably do it (perverts will be disappointed)! Online play is now available which extends the lifespan of this game indefinitely.

This game is a masterpiece! The majority of the negative reviews that I've read here seem to have some reoccurring themes. "It takes too long to get places in the game... It's just a bunch of horse riding... It's slow paced... etc." I get it. Yes, the map is huge and it takes some time to travel by horse, but the people who are writing these kind of negative reviews are missing the bigger picture Rockstar has provided. I constantly find myself totally immersed and enthralled by the vast amounts of detail and art that has been captured in RDR2. At no point have I been bored playing this incredible game. People need to take it for what it is and realize what it is not. It is not a fast paced shoot-em-up online game with no soul. It has not been tailored to satisfy the gamers who have been conditioned by the industry to expect instant gratification. If you are that type of gamer, then this game is not for you. Go find a fast paced FPS game and play that instead. Alternatively, if you are the kind of person who can appreciate the concept of working a bit and seeing the fruits of your labor, or if you're the kind of person who can enjoy the journey and not just the destination, then buy this game. I can't recommend it enough. It's incredible.

Wow, just WOW! What an amazing job RockStar did again. All the 9 and 10 reviews online are justified. From the storytelling to the graphics it’s a masterpiece. I’m playing it on Xbox One X which is a true native 4K and helps even more to show the beauty. I’m playing it with HDR off as with it on it appears blown out and poor black levels at this point. But maybe in the future RockStar can fix this issue. But other than that, I’m having a blast. It’s like playing in a blockbuster movie.

    Epic Adventure

    Posted .

I am 60 years old and have been video gaming since the first days of Intellivision, Atari and Playstation. With that being said, I grew up watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. I love Westerns and always will. This game is truly the best game that I have played thus far and my all time favorite. Rock Star and Naughty Dog are the top two gaming companies in my opinion. I am playing on Xbox X and a 55" 4K TV the graphics set the bar and are just second to none. The music is well thought out and perfect for the era. The towns and scenery are just plain epic. You can get caught up in the scenery just looking around with the binoculars. There is something for everyone here from bustling St. Dennis to the Grizzly Mountains. Sure it takes a bit to get from point A to point B, but then again it did in those days too. I usually get side tracked hunting varmints or big game or stop and fish. Both activities are well thought out and so realistic, There are so many activities to do and sets to collect you will be playing this game for a very long time. There are many humorous adventures too. Like the first time I went up to a horse that I did not first make up to. I quickly got kicked across the stable. Or the time I hit the wrong button and punched my horse Pecos. He quickly turned around and kicked me a good 10 feet. Or the time a billy goat head butted me and knocked me down. Or the first time I tried roping a wild horse. I managed to finally catch up and rope him alongside a moving train; only to have him tumble and the train run him over dead. Hah! I think you get the picture. Let me say this game may not be for all. I have two sons, 16 and 22, both have watched me play. Neither are interested in playing the game one bit. They are from the fast paced CoD crowd. If I were to pick one fault with the game, it would be the save system. I have saved game play and when loaded I find myself in a different location. Also when starting a mission, it would be nice to make a save so if you mess up, you could go back to that save to try it again. For instance, I shot Flaco the gunslinger. He fell face down outside his cabin. Now you are supposed to take his picture to prove you shot him. I could not as the picture would not show his face. I tried and tried so many ways. I finally found if I walked thru him it disturbed his body a bit. After walking thru him about 25 times his face was exposed. You can replay missions, but you have to start from their check point. In this case I could not start the mission over as it wasn't complete. I would have had to go back to the previous day. If you travel far, you may need to do that all over again. This is a minor complaint though. I still feel RDR2 should be and will be GOTY . If you enjoy role playing games, this is a must have game.

Well I just recently traded in my 2015 Mazda3 for an American Quarter Horse. Once you manage to build the bond with it, it'll come to you if you whistle. You can do this by pressing up on the D pad. Yeah I reckon this would be a good purchase, though once you download the game to you console you will have a twang of sorts. Life has become immersive and I find myself hunting or shaving in between the story line. Bounties are a thing and if someone murder's another they don't find the law after them. But if you happen to ride the dead fellow's horse, well dang you'll find yourself wanted for murder. Don't ask me, I'm just a cowboy. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a train to catch as it's my main form of transportation since my horse done been shot at like Mia Khalifa at the end of the video. Buy horse revive. It's a thing.

This game is a technological marvel. The physics, the graphics, the detail; all stunning. The world is huge and full of detail, life and things to do. The story writing and characters are great and all combine to make for one incredibly addicting, immersive experience. I can't wait to play every time i'm not playing. it's that good. sure, there are a couple downfalls like the controls being complex and confusing at times, but these are easily overshadowed and become small gripes once you get used to them. 10/10 in my book. i would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone...just maybe not the young kiddos.

I was into Warzone and playing online with my friends, I bought this game because I had a Best Buy gift card, for banter purposes. I fired this baby up and I've officially gone full anti-social awkward homeschool kid, though I am in my late 20s. I set my XBOX to show offline so my friends can't annoy me with their silly Warzone or any other battle royale invitations. I ride horses, I rob people's carriages, and I hunt BEARS. This game is awesome. I am working on growing out my mustache, in the game. My wife will not let me grow one in real life, though if [Insert main character of this game's name cause I forgot it] can do whatever he wants WHY CAN'T I?

    Amazing!

Rockstar has set the bar high once again! Its said they spent 8 years developing this game and it absolutely paid off. I easily spent 200 hours immersed in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. Having loved the original Red Dead game, I knew I would pick this up eventually but was concerned due to not caring for the latest Grand Theft Auto game. I'm glad I did. The graphics are unprecedented on the PS4 Pro and amazing on the XBOX ONE original console ( I have yet to buy an XBOX ONE X). The landscapes range from swamp land to snowy mountains to tall grass and forests. There is an array of animals to hunt, fish to catch and horses to tame and ride. Hunting has an extra added layer of complexity. Animal pelt come in three different varieties, poor, good and perfect. In order to craft clothing, satchels, etc. perfect and/or legendary pelts need to be obtained. Fish can be caught then cooked or sold. There are also Legendary fish to catch as well. This is not a game where you want to skip the cutscenes as the voice acting, music and story are top notch! I found myself walking around camp and talking to NPC's to learn their unique stories and backgrounds. I also enjoyed reading Arthur's journal as he records drawings of unique sights he sees while out in the world. The journal also gives the player insight into how Arthur feels about certain events that unfold throughout the game. When you need a break from the main storyline, there are side quests as well as mini games like Dominoes, Five Finger Fillet, Poker and Blackjack. To put it lightly, this game is packed with things to do. If you buy one video game this year, make it this one. When I exhausted all the options, I legitimately got bummed due to not having any new content. With that being said, for those of you who play online, there is RDR Online. I can't say much about it because I'm of the dying single player breed. I do hope that Rockstar releases a single-player DLC. They definitely will have my money if so!

There is so much detail in this game it’s unbelievable. You can hunt up to like 120 animals. You can fish for many kinds of fish using different lures and baits. You can customize your guns and gear. You can kill everyone that you want. You can run from the law or kill them. Bounty hunters will come after you if you don’t pay your bounty. You can freeze to death if you don’t wear the right gear. You can catch horses or kill them. You can hog tie people and feed them to the gators or throw them in a lake or river and watch them drown. You can also put them on train tracks and let them get in over. You can drag them behind your horse. You can rob people trains stores. So basically if you’re trying to decide to get this game or not you would be wrong not to get it.

RDR2 is one of the most critically acclaimed games of the last few years. After playing it for several hours, I can understand why. The world is enormous, the attention to detail is incredible, and there is more content in this game than I can possibly imagine completing. I take away one star due to the fact that the game moves at an incredibly slow pace. The animation to retrieve an item from a defeated enemy takes 4-5 seconds. You can spend several minutes searching a room for important items. It can take 5-10 minutes to travel from point A to point B on your horse. In general, the main character walks very slowly and deliberately. Failing a mission can sometimes mean having to take the same 5 minute horse ride that you just took, so that you can try it again. It is a great game. If you don’t mind a very slow pace, and like taking in the vast amount of visual detail and story that a game like this provides, you’ll love it. After playing for about 5 hours, I’ve decided that It’s just too slow, not my kind of game. Impressive but not for me.
