East meets West. Fantastic.

I picked this game up yesterday, and I can honestly say it's one of the best Wii games out on the market today, and now one of my favorites. I'm just going to get straight to the point:
Graphics/Visuals: Absolutely fantastic. Runs 60 frames/second (comparable to Metroid Prime 3). The cel-shaded style of the game is an awesome fit for a game like this, where neon cityscapes find a home in the wild west. Virtually no frame-rate issues, except for some very minor hookups now and again, but it's almost impossible to notice. The environments and characters themselves are well-designed and at times you will find yourself stopping to look around simply because it looks that good. Effects like explosions and water dynamics are also very cool in this game.
Audio: The sound effects aren't exactly perfect (though not bad in the least), and the dialogue is a bit cheesy at times, which is more than likely done on purpose to add to the humor in the game. But in this game it's the ambient background music that gives the gameplay the extra push; it's so cool to hear the subtle guitar playing after defeating a horde of enemies. Plus background music changes from location to location; music in the Caldera Desert differs greatly to that of a Neon-lit city at nighttime.
Length: I clocked around 15 hours to get through the main story, which for me is a perfect amount of time for a shooter, especially one as good as this, but I did take my time and explore as much as I could, so there's roughly around 12-13 hours of playtime.
Gameplay: This game revolves around swordplay, and this is the first game besides Wii Sports Resort that nailed it right on the head. Swinging the Wii remote with different forces affects the sword slicing ability in the game; if you swing soft, the sword swings soft and does less damage, and if you swing strongly, you can knock an enemy 10 feet away from you. There are also a great deal of combos and special abilities to learn, as well and health/armor upgrades and 4 different guns at your disposal. The game is also full of side missions, but those are really just to earn extra cash. AI intelligence is impressive in this game, as you'll often find yourself swarmed by enemies of various types and classes, each with their own fighting style and stamina. Defeating enemies in more stylized ways will increase the amount of cash you earn from each encounter.
Challenge: Not too hard, not too easy. The game finds a suitable level of difficulty, even though some parts of the game get pretty tough, but variety is a good thing. The game has a Easy, Medium, and Hard mode.
Replay Value: There's not much after the main story mode, other than a "Challenge Mode", which is pretty much a replay of specific areas in past missions, if you want to go back and explore anything you might have missed during the core play-through.
Extras: There are codes out there that allow you to unlock 2 special guns and 2 special katanas for use in the main game.
This is the bottom line: The folks at Ubisoft Paris have really outdone themselves with this title, and if you are a Wii owner and have been waiting for something truly awesome and unique, then definitely give checking this game out some thought. Goes down as a 10/10 in my book.

I have never played the first Red Steel because i heard that it wasn't that good so i avoided it. But i did get Red Steel 2. This game is excellent. The physics are great, the graphics are great, and the controls are very user friendly. With the motion plus accessory, your movements are spot on. You can slash and stab with ease. Plus all of the adjustments to sensitivity and the like are a great addition for someone that doesn't want to move around that much. There is an awesome mix of guns and swords in the game, but you will notice yourself using the sword more often. Mainly becuase it is more fun. The gameplay and flow is great. The only thing that i thought was a little odd was that fact that all of the asian people in the game have cowboy accents. It just doesn't seem right comming out of their mouths. But i wouldn't way that that is a deal breaker. Just a small quirk of the game that might not bother anyone else but me. Oh well. It is an excellent game and i highly reccomend it.

Great showcase of MotionPlus

Red Steel 2 uses Wii MotionPlus really well, and the overall experience of swinging the controller like a sword is immensely rewarding. Pulling off the many sword/gun/melee combos in the game to dispatch of enemies is really satisfying, and I found myself smiling gleefully when learning a new one. The Cutscenes are also really impressive, and the game's visual style is incredibly unique - this game looks great on Wii. "First-person brawler" is really an accurate description of the game's genre. This game is really a must-have for any Wii action game fan.

I really loved playing this game, i'll probably play through on hard again soon. the autosave was fast but confusing as far as if you wanted to quit but didn't see the autosave block. It's one of the better wii games I've played, you really need to swing hard to get the harder swing to register so it's pretty good for the upper body, just remember to take breaks(rest and water)

Redemption is the name of the game for Ubi soft. The first Red Steel came out with a lot of promises but this game keeps those promises. The combat alone is enough for someone to go out and buy this game. The story isn't all that great actually its a little corny. The sword fighting is excellent and graphics are great. I've heard some say that you'd mistake them for PS360 type graphics but I'm not going that far with it. Overall I recommend anyone to this game.

Good Game... Ruined!

I can tell you all about the good things of this game but they are all instantly squashed by the game ending bugs. Bugs varying from falling through the game world (reset required), total lock up of game and system (hard power off), to the last one I occured playing this game which placed me wrong area of the game on load, autosaving (no option to disable) and essentaly ruining my data file, leaving no choice but to erase it and start over from the begining.
Its one thing for a company to release a pc game early and patch the problem occuring out later. Its unacceptable for that to happen on a console game which cannot be modified except by total disc replacement, which I dont see happening anytime soon.
