My wife and I have always enjoyed watching martial arts movies, and we stumbled across this one. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays a Jiu-Jitsu master running a self- defense studio. Ejiofor runs his life, and studio with a strong conviction to a strict samurai's code. Unfortunately, during the course of this movie, an accident leads to unforeseen events in which everything that could possibly go wrong does go wrong. Ultimately, Ejiofor ends up dealing with an unscrupulous fight promoter in an effort to pay his debts. The Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts in this movie are continuous, skilled, and very well done. The acting and character development is solid, and you will really not like the deceit and cons perpetrated by the bad guys. The end of the movie does a great job in fully retaking the Samari's code and returning Ejiofor's honor.

I love this movie. It really gets under your skin and makes you root for the protagonist in the same way most boxing/sport movies do. If you're a fan of martial arts and this type of genre you will like this movie. And you will love it if you are willing to forgive some awkward plot holes and "what the heck" moments. This movie could have been so much more if a few things were explained better and given the proper attention. Some of the characters are pretty inconsistent and it leaves you confused and perhaps a little shocked.

This movie is awesome! It centers around sticking to what you believe in no matter what people all around you are doing. A great movie with a great message of honor and dedication.

I first borrowed "Redbelt" from public library and immediately took to it! After watching it a Ga-zillion times, I had to add it to my dvd collection... so I can watch it a few more Ga-zillion times! The philosophies taught are great lessons in "life" itself. Respect, honor and decency. It's not so much the "action" as it is the "code of the warrior" that is the central theme. There is nothing negative about this film. I HIGHLY recommend this film to any and everyone!

The movie has a way to draw you in keep you focused on everything while wondering what's going to happen next.
