Entering the World of Hi-fi Audio

I upgraded from a bottom of the line Sony automatic turntable that I've greatly enjoyed for the last 7-8 years. It got me started in the world of vinyl in my early 20's. My love of classic/prog rock has only strengthened over that time, and with it my love for the hobby of collecting vinyl. Now that I'm a little older, and have a little more money, I decided to upgrade my entire stereo set up. The main music format that I listen to is vinyl, so I really wanted to spend a lot of my budget here. My Planar 3 is hooked up to a Schitt Mani phono pre-amp, Cambridge CXA61 integrated amp (vis Audioquest Golden Gate interconnects), and Klipsch R-820F speakers. I love the turntable. I'll even use the cliche that it was like hearing my favorite music for the first time. Details in songs were discovered, instruments can be heard separately, and sound emerges from an incredibly quiet noise floor. I'm on Fire from Bruce's Born in the USA sounds haunting. I can't speak to all genres, but classic rock/prog rock albums really shine with the Elys cartridge. An added plus with Rega turntables is the amount of after market support and parts. This table can grow with your taste and budget for years to come. Although it is pricy (For me), the turntable or my system are by no means high-end when you get into the world of hifi audio. That being said, if you are looking to move up the latter from a budget turntable to something that begins to enter this world it is a great place to start. I see no reason I will not be satisfied for another 7-8 years with the Planar 3.
