This is certainly an interesting mash up of the post apocalyptic and medieval dragon genres. It has it's moments, the Star Wars play is a lot of fun, seeing that moment when a group of kids hear that immortal line "Luke, I am your father" for the first time and it being a total surprise for them was a treat, even for someone who isn't the biggest fan of Star Wars, that is also always the thing I remember most about this movie. And this has decent action, if somewhat dated effects, and the stars in it make you wonder why no one really knows about this movie. I'm glad I found it on here because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Overall I would recommend this if you're looking for something with a slightly different take on dragons.

This movie is interesting too watch with friends because it’s about dragons taking over the world and it’s up too the humans to fight back and reclaim there world. I like the movie and I bet your friends will like it too. Filled with a lot of violence and action and explosions.

When watching a film, you try to put yourself in the scenario. Relating to the characters, good writing, production and good acting. It only happens with the right combination. Probably a classic by now!

Reign of fire starring Christopher knoll and Matthew McConaughey. This is an interesting movie because it's a what if movie. A young boy goes with his mother who's an engineering down into the European tunnel to connect the UK to France The engineering team happens to keep on a cavern that houses a dragon. Unfortunately the dragon had been sleeping for hundreds of years to be woken by the activity dragon comes alive and singes just about everything it comes in contact with. The human race is becoming extinct forward 25 30 years later. Now you have Christopher knoll who is in the UK who was the small boy. Matthew McConaughey is an American soldier nutcase who takes his ragtag bunch to the UK to try and kill the one dragon that started all this which is the male Great action great storyline CGI graphics are really good for the time. If you like sci-fi this is a good movie to have in your collection.

The Dragons in this movie looks AMAZING!! The cast and crew with the Dragons really make this movie come alive, and full of action!! Definitely worth checking out!!

I missed this at the theaters; but, found this in the bargain bin at Best Buy. While it is not a "great" film; it is a good one. It does have some problems(the dragons eating the ash as food; I do have a background in biology, and I can't see how they can get much nutrition from ash); but, tries to get around that by just sort of mentioning it in passing. The explanation for the fire breathing is more believable(two glands in the mouth). The movie is somewhat slow until the appearance of the American militia group; then the pace picks up. The actors(Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey) do a good job of bringing their characters to life; and, showing the differences between them. Rob Bowman(of X-Files fame) does a good job of directing. The direction that the movie goes is not easily predicted; and a fair amount of suspence does occur. I can recommend this film; but, it could have been a bit better.

I think this is the best post-apocalyptic action film since Mad Max. Everything is fantastic: the story, the acting, the sets, the special effects. It amazes me that this film never found it's audience. I think it's great. A really interesting take on the dragons myth. Something I've never seen before in a film. The sequence where men attempt to snare a dragon in mid-air is something that has never been seen before on-screen. I got the DVD and watched so many times that it became unplayable so I bought this new copy on Blue Ray and it's so amazing to watch this movie with better picture and excellent resolution.

Reign of Fire seems to have been quickly forgotten by the general public, maybe due to its unique nature. It is a modern action movie featuring dragons, after all. Picked up the Blu ray on sale and was surprised by how well this film still holds up. The action and special effects are spectacular. Bale and McConaughey turn in gritty performances along with then-newcomer Gerard Butler. McConaughey is almost unrecognizable as a bald-headed, cigar-chomping soldier. Maybe the pacing of the film is off here and there, maybe there isn't quite enough action as would be expected, but Reign of Fire is very entertaining. It's an older Blu ray release, but still offers enough to dazzle on any high-def system. Recommended!

I’ve always liked this movie. As I transfer to newer formats; I find that Bly-Ray and 4K most definitely improve the experience. This was purchased as a replacement for my old DVD. I know it’s a “B” movie in many peoples minds; and that’s OK. Even a “B” movie is better with the clarity of Blu-Ray.

I fell in love with this movie when I saw it in theaters. Finally a modern day Dragon movie, without the bs celebrity voiceovers that shows them for the fearful bause they are. Very interesting and plausible history and approach. And you've got Gerard Butler as the lovable friend, Christian Bale leader of the resistance and Matthew Mcconaughey as a Viking. I mean come on!

Quite a different take on ' dragon movies' . Most of time there is 1 maybe 2 dragons in this movie they out number the humans. Great action and really love Christian bale & Matthew McConaughey as leaders of their small bands if survivor's.

It was great in 2002 and it is great now. Can't believe how good this looks on bluray. Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, and Gerard Butler combine for a solid flick that has not been given it's just due nor recognition. See this and you won't be dissapointed.

I thought the movie had a refreshing take of mixing the old dragon myth with a modern day loure. I enjoyed the movie and felt that it was a pleasure to watch instead of some of the cheezy low budget movies that you see go direct to video. If your into dragon movies I give it a Recommendation.

This movie is a classic: Christian, Mathew and a ton of dragons. How do you make that trio of splendor MORE awesome? Make it happen in blu-ray sound! This film is awesome with a little speaker power, so if you're looking for a good Friday night ear-buster, look no further!

This one flew under the radar, but was actually a decent sci-fi, post- apocalyptic movie. Maybe it wasn't well received because it had dragons in it, but come on! Dragons are cool, right? Good performances by Matt and Bale, although different from their usual characters.

The blue ray of the movie offers everything you need in this great science fiction thriller. Wonderful genre of fantasy meets post apocalypse with some amazing actors .. scene s,, look great on the blue ray format and price is perfect. A++

Over a decade before they squared off for the Best actor Oscar, Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey duked it out in a post apocalyptic world destroyed by Dragons. This film was pretty enjoyable and it had some interesting, original ideas. There were several droughts throughout where not much happened and the film became a bit dull. But once the action kicks in, things got interesting. The highest praise I can give this is to point out how well the special effects hold up after 12 years. The Dragons look fantastic and their designs are very well done too. Don't expect many layers going into this. It's a bare bones actioner with a couple great actors who had yet to reach greatness at this point.

The guys who played Batman and Leonidas team up with Matthew McConaughey to fight dragons in the future?!? Alright alright alright This movie is not for everyone but if you enjoyed it before the Blu-ray is the way to watch it, hands down.
