    Slayer's Back!

As usual, Slayer's new releases are always near the top of my personal antiticipated new releases list. And as usual, Slayer does not disappoint. For those who compare modern day Slayer to their peak (Show No Mercy through Seasons in the Abyss), I don't think the comparison is valid. The new Slayer shouldn't be compared to their classic era, much like the latest Black Sabbath album shouldn't be compared to their classic era either. That being said, if you give this album a chance without comparing it to those classic albums, I think you'll come away impressed. I'd venture to say this is their best album since 2001's "God Hates us All". It's a really good album that seems more focused than "Christ Illusion" and "World Painted Blood", and both of those albums were solid efforts. Despite the absence of Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo, Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph prove they bring plenty of fire to add to what stalwarts Kerry King and Tom Araya do best. If you like Slayer, this album should fit nicely in the middle of your collection of their albums. While it isn't peak Slayer, it's still worth your time and if you give it a chance I doubt it will disappoint.

I made a conscious decision to not jump aboard the hater-train with this new record and lineup. Dave has always been one of my favorite drunmers, and Jeff was a legend. But these guys have given me so many years of music, that I owe it to them to PURCHASE (NOT ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD!) their latest offering. For the record, I have NEVER downloaded music without paying for it. The record is OK... the title track is pretty badass, but I'm not digging the rest of the record as much as I wish I would. I don't think that it's because it's a bad record, it's probably because of my musical tastes that are constantly evolving. I have the same exact thoughts on the new Lamb Of God album as well. In summary, support the artists that you love. If you don't support them, they will cease to exist and all we will have is the garbage that you hear on the radio.

The death of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, the second-time firing of drummer Dave Lombardo, label issues, producer troubles, all of these couldn't keep Slayer from releasing their eleventh album Repentless which I think continues in the style of Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood, but with God Hates Us All mixed in for good measure. Pick this up immediately.

Dare not say the band has nothing left to offer the music world! The new album from Slayer starts as haunting and builds to the power house of aggression that we've come to expect! "Vices" grabs you from the start and rips into your spine releasing a surge of adrenaline that could raise the dead! A must have for any fan!

The metal kings are back with a heavy hitting, non stop addition to the album lineup. Slayer has been heavy and stayed heavy from day one. This album shows that they are a force to be reckoned and they maintain their crown with masterpieces like "When the Stillness Comes" and "Chasing Death" to the title track "Repentless". Keep it heavy! A definite buy for any metal repertoire.

If you're even thinking about buying this you must be a Slayer fan. LOL. So obviously you are going to get it despite what I say. I thought it was a pretty good disc. Not the most incredible thing Ive heard by them, but its been awhile since we've gotten something from them. I haven't gotten bored with it yet! Listened to it like 15 times in the last week.

If you wanted a Slayer album this doesn't disappoint. Heavy riffs, insane drums and some angry lyrics put together with high quality production. Perfect workout music when you need that extra edge! Time has not slowed them down. Strong as ever.

This is Slayer's first new album in 6 years. Since then, drummer Dave Lombardo left the band (again), and founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman died. Much as I love Lombardo's drumming, it's Hanneman's presence I miss the most. He wrote many of Slayer's classic songs, and he brought a symphonic dissonance to the band that made Slayer the great band they are. Gary Holt, also of Exodus, is a serviceable replacement. He gets the sound. But it's the writing that's missing most. I still like it, but there are way better Slayer albums out there.

They don't bother changing the formula on this new release even with new guitarist Gary Holt taking the place of the deceased Jeff Hanneman. Why bother? It works.

The joys of listening to Slayer are endless. They never sold out/changed style genres. Maybe that's why they have such loyal followers, and have been around so long.

Well they never left. Their first album since the death of Jeff Hannamen, and it doesn't disappoint. Highly recommended to any Slayer fan, new or old.

Slayer is back with another angry brutal album. While not as good as their earlier work (Reign in Blood, Seasons in the Abyss), it's still a good alum. Gone (again) is Dave Lombardo, and Gary Holt (from Exodus) is a worthy successor to Jeff (RIP). I've listed through it a few times and it's growing on me, but there aren't really any songs that stand out like the old ones. Maybe my tastes have changed, but I'll continue to listen to Slayer until the day I die!
