Well acted BW movie drama about the seamy side of boxing with Anthony Quinn in the title role as the washed up fighter and Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney in very convincing supporting roles as the handlers. There is also a cameo performance by Muhammad Ali ( then known as Cassius Clay) at the beginning of the film . Julie Harris also appears in a supporting role as the social worker playing opposite Anthony Quinn’s character. All in all a good blu ray to watch and perhaps to own at only $10 if you are a boxing fan and like dramas.
I would recommend this to a friend

A monumental screen portrayal by Anthony Quinn in possibly his greatest film role. Even more incredible are the awesome performances by three equally veteran actors, Jackie Gleason, Mickey Rooney and Julie Harris. Besides all this remarkable talent, the screenplay by Rod Serling provides a story that is impossible to ever forget. Requiem For A Heavyweight is a masterpiece!
