This is such a good remake of a classic PS1 game. Plays so well and I am looking forward to more remakes after we got RE3. Resident Evil 4 and 5 should be next and those will be must owns as well.

What a wonderful remake of this classic survival horror masterpiece. Great graphics, great voice overs, great story, great detail. Only complaint is that the campaigns are short once you know how to play through it.

The new RE2 runs smoothly and looks amazing. If you are actively looking for a horror survival game this one is an easy buy. Compared to the original the story and all characters are fleshed out a little more. They managed to keep every moment intense and terrifying even with the change to a over the shoulder perspective. Also, just like the original, you will need to play through it 4x times to see the whole story (Leon A, Claire B, Claire A, Leon B). The "hidden" modes, difficulties and unlimited ammo weapons are still here to unlock. Also there is free dlc on the way featuring 3 of the minor characters to play as and flesh out their roles a little more (gun shop owner, mayor's daughter, and a member of alpha team).

With the exception to maybe one character, other characters stay true to their plots in the original game but are expanded upon. The RPD and other environments also stay true to the original while also being expanded upon. For instance to get to the second floor of the RPD in the main hall you no longer have to use a latter, instead a new set of stairs has been added. Other rooms are how you remember them but with additional details added and minor changes. There was a great amount of detail put into how enemies react. You can easily get past a Licker without making any noise, Mr. X is unavoidable but he wont be drawn to the room you're in if you keep noise to a minimum. Zombies will be drawn towards you and will use the environment to do so (zombies will crawl over tables just to get you). There is no zapping system like the original, but AB scenarios do make a return. The changes to AB scenarios aren't as significant as the original, as Mr. X being in both scenarios being the biggest change. Other scenario changes would include additional enemies in areas and puzzle combinations being different. Resident Evil 2's visuals bring it all together. Graphically I would say Resident Evil 2 surpasses God of War. Gore also plays a big factor in the game. You can shoot a zombie's head off like a watermelon, dismember a zombie's limbs with well placed shots, and entirely shoot a zombie in half. 10/10 game. Has great reputability and stays true to the original while doing some stuff different.

I highly recommend this game to any horror fans! I have not played the originals so I'm coming from a newcomer to this particular game in the series (first in the series I played was 7). I found the controls to be easy to learn, and generally a good play experience. There were no moments I can remember that stick out as obscenely harder than the rest of the game. It felt pretty well balanced. The replayability was a pleasant surprise, along with the bonus challenge modes after completing the first and second runs. There are some serious flaws in terms of storylines, in terms of one character being defeated in one run but showing up later in the second run, but overall it was well done.

For those long time RE fans out there, this is the RE game we have been waiting for. It brings back the nerve wrecking feeling we get when playing games like this and you really need to emphasize on item management. It adds to the intensity of the game, which in my opinion adds to the game. There are 2 campaigns, one where you play as Claire and the other as Leon. Each is told through their perspectives, and there are enough differences that warrant playing the game twice. There is a lot of replayability here and the story is well done. I recommend this to all RE fans and anyone looking to become one.

I appreciate all the atmosphere and creepiness it offers while maintaining the feel of the original and fixing a lot of the play control difficulties

Never played RE2 and I was new to the series. The game deserves all the praise it gets. The story is great, the game is scary especially when Mr. X just walks around the corner and chases after you. Even after you finish the game, there's more content which takes place during the main game and after that I'm still discovering things after a year I bought it.

As the current generation of gaming comes to a close, we are rewarded with the fantastically frightening, Resident Evil 2 remake. As a huge fan of the series, I remember playing the 1998 original and enjoy it immensely, cut to 2019 and I am being hunted and scared all over again. Newcomers will embrace this game even if they haven't played the original Resident Evil. Returning players will enjoy this brave retelling of this zombie, survival horror game. I felt my heart racing as I heard the groans of zombies in rooms that initially entered with only my flashlight illuminating my path. Situational awareness is a must in this game and you will be a better player for it once the Tyrant enters the narrative. That's when the true panic sets in. The visuals provide an immersion that makes you feel like you are in the middle of an awesome zombie movie. Seeing the rain blow in from a broken window as the water puddles in the hall creates some incredible atmosphere. Seeing the rotting faces of zombies lunge at you seconds after they get back up to their feet is nightmare fodder. But it is all so much fun! The audio is sublime whether you are playing with a headset on or using a soundbar, the audio is key to the experience because the audio cue will signal which way the potential danger is coming. Trust me, you'll know what I am referring to when you get to certain points. Resident Evil 2 is a must play for this generation. It's that 'must see movie' that everyone is talking about. More than just a pretty update. This was a well done redesign from the ground up with excellent lighting/shading and facial feature construction. Audio sounds great and the over the shoulder gameplay makes navigation easier. Was a fan of the original when I played it in college and this was equally enjoyable.

It's a great remake overall, with excellent production values and a different twist on the story and events. My biggest gripe is that the two playthroughs of the characters are almost the same. That's now how they were in the original RE2. As such, it limits the replayability.

Glad that they remade one of my favorite RE games. Not a ton was chaned and the remake honors the original.

One of the best remake of the year, wayy better than 3 as it was remade by a outside company. The overhead camera change was well needed for this modern adapation. Game is terrifying, not for the weak of heart, lots of tension when you get to mid act with the stalker following you around level to level. Wish they made a similar remake for 1.

Talk about a remake!! This is how it's done, the gameplay is excellent, the atmosphere, the story, everything if you're a fan of RE pick this up.

Graphics in this game look really good for today's standard. This game feels new yet nostalgic. Playing this game really defines the genre survival horror with rationing supplies and staying alive. This game length is fair given it's price point. Has a lot of replay value playing through both characters. It can get challenging and there are some twist compared to the original. I highly recommend this game to those that like a quality horror game.

A classic remade with modern gameplay Resident Evil 2 is how all remakes/remasters should be done. The original was made in 1998 and it was an amazing game in its time. The gameplay today would be extremely hard to play especially for new comers. Luckily this doesn’t play like that. It plays like a modern game without losing what made the first special. No easy task in an age where they spit these out to make a buck. They’ve changed just enough to keep even veterans on their toes. Gone are the “Door” load times from the original. You’re now fre to run amok through the levels at will. Of course doing so makes more noise and this attracts enemies you may not want to fight or have enough ammo to fight. Graphically it’s impressive and runs at a pretty solid 60FPS on the PS4 Pro. It’s even more impressive on PC but I felt I needed to play in on the platform from whence it originated. The Story is for the most part unchanged. Leon is just as stupid now as he was in the first. This is great because it plays amazing but still reminds you of how silly stories were and sometimes still are in games. It’s totally worth picking up regardless if your a long time fan or a new player that’s heard of the original but never played it.

I always like Resident Evil but the one thing that steered me away from games in the past were the controls. The remake fixes that completely. Compelling story with low ammo constantly puts tensions high and keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you like zombies/horror, high tension and puzzles I recommend this.
