Nothing new here, but a very solid Green Day album

Back to basics on "Revolution Radio". Nothing wildly experimental like on the previous trilogy; only one multi-part suite ("Forever Now", which honestly is the weakest track - "Jesus of Suburbia" is a classic, but every subsequent attempt to recreate it comes off as a copy of a copy of a copy with diminishing returns - the well had pretty much run dry by "21st Century Breakdown") Standout tracks include the caustic "Bang Bang", the catchy title track, the .goofy power-pop of "Bouncing Off The Wall", and the power ballads "Outlaws" and "Still Breathing". But even though it's back-to-basics, don't think this is just "Dookie Part 2" (or Part 3, since "Insomniac" was essentially "Dookie Part 2"). They manage to incorporate sounds from their entire career, including the underrated "Warning" (still my personal favorite) and still sound current - easily beating the pants off of all the ukulele-strumming, banjo-plucking, yodeling, bad-facial-hair-sporting hipster bands that pass for "modern rock" in 2016.

I was not a fan of Green Day's last couple albums but I was presently surprised by this one. Some highlights are "Ordinary World" and "Still Breathing."

I was never really a Green Day fan and I was a teenager in the '90's during their heyday. That all changed with American Idiot. That album forced me to re-evaluate my opinion of the band and then it changed my mind. A Modern Classic. 21st Century Breakdown cemented their place among my favorite bands and I still listen to that album regularly. Revolution Radio is more of a grown-up '90's Green Day. It's good, but definitely not on the level that American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are. That said, it's a step up from the last round of Green Day known as Uno, Dos and Tres.

I have been a fan of Green Day since American Idiot and grew up listening to all of their older stuff. I have been wary of anything they've released since Idiot but am glad to say that this newest album is a refreshing mix of old and new. Songs like Bang Bang feel old school and others like Still Breathing feel much more modern. Bottom line: this is a great album to jam to in the car and I'm glad I gave Green Day another chance.

I've only listened to the album a handful of times and like many GD songs, some are instant hits, and many of them grow on you over time more and more. Only thing I don't like is that it comes in one of those card stock type "cases". I guess that's better for the environment maybe (?), but I prefer the jewel cases to match the rest of their albums as this is the only group I still buy hard copy albums for.

Green Day continues to churn out good music with its newest release. When I first played this CD, all of the songs sounded similar to me. But when I played it more and more the songs grew on me and I realized the similarity between the songs was the recording effects used. Revolution Radio and Bouncing Off the Wall are two of my favorite songs from this CD.

    Better than the trilogy albums

I've been a Green Day fan since the mid 90s and have been able to appreciate the change in style of Green Day's music over the years, most notably with Warning and later with American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. The trilogy albums (Uno, Dos, and Tre) were a big change too but were very inconsistent in song quality, with only a few memorable songs between them (btw, I think Tre is the best album of those three). Revolution Radio's sound is kind of a mix between the sound from the trilogy albums and American Idiot/21st Century Breakdown. It carries some of the politically charged themes from the latter two records (most prominent in the first single, Bang Bang), but honestly the political stuff feels really tired at this point. Thankfully the whole album is a good mix, and has some memorable songs such as Revolution Radio, Still Breathing, and Forever now, plus some other catchy tunes. Worth picking up if you're a big Green Day fan, otherwise maybe pass on this one.

Long term fans will like the return to their classic sound and song structure... the Uno, Dos, Tre albums were a little more experimental, probably off-putting some fans (I enjoyed bits and pieces of those albums). Don't know if current radio still considers them relevant enough for airplay, but the songs are definitely on that level.

I've been a fan of the band since pretty much the beginning - Kerplunk, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. I like how the band has matured in their songwriting over time and still kept some of that "F-U" punk edge. They seem to be getting better with age! Can't wait until the tour to support this!

In-store employees were a great help showing my fiance and I where the CD's that we were looking for. They were really nice to us and made it a quick and easy process. And not to mention great music we bought from there. And my fiance, she enjoys that curling iron too. Thank You Best Buy.

I have only gotten to listen to this a couple of times, but so far I have to say Green Day still sounds a lot like Green Day-- and that's a good thing as far as I am concerned! This is perhaps more thoughtful and less haphazard compared to some of their early stuff, but the boys are growing up well.

After Uno, Dos, Tre, I wasn't too sure what this album would be like. I like all of Green Day's album except for the 3 listed above. Been a fan since Lollapalooza 94'...This album is a great somewhat mellowed out mind trip!!! Not a Dookie or American Idiot but overall a must buy cd!!!

Billie Joe, Tre', and Mike come back into the limelight with this phenomenal album. Green Day continues to conquer the music industry with this back to old school punk sound that made them who they are today. Add this one to your collection; it won't be complete without this one...

This album is Green Day's first stand alone record since releasing their trilogy a few years back. They do a great job of combining their new sound with the old punk vibe that made them famous. While there isn't a bad song on the record, the singles are definitely the strongest of the bunch.

Green Day's new album "Revolution Radio" is another solid release from these California boys who have been rockin' now for over 26 years. It's no "American Idiot" or "21st Century Breakdown", but if you're a fan of Billie Joe, Mike and Tre, you should definitely pick this album up.

I wasn't a fan of Uno!, Dos!, Tre!, so when I heard Revolution Radio was coming out, I was skeptical. I heard the song Revolution Radio on the radio before the album was released, and it reminded me of American Idiot-era Green Day. A great purchase, for sure.

Revolution Radio is the best thing that Green Day has released since American Idiot (might even be better). As far as disk quality, I haven't had any issues. The disk plays well, no skips. The packaging is minimal, but I suppose that is a good thing.
