First of all, here’s what you will need: You need a 240V circuit with at least a 40A breaker If you want to take full advantage of the 32A Level 2 charging. You also need a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Get a licensed electrician to install one for you if don’t have one. Unfortunately for me, My Plug-in Hybrid BMW 330e is limited to 16A. You may want to double your car’s charging specs. It’s still a lot faster than my the original charger.
From zero charge, the charger that came with my car would take 7 hours and 40minutes to fully charge my car. This charger does it in 3 hours and 10 minutes. In just 30 minutes, my car was charged to 20% which is good for 4 miles. It got to 38% within an hour and got to 50% in about 83 minutes. The main unit stayed relatively cool during the whole charging process and so did the wires and outlet.
The onscreen display is not fully touchscreen. Only the SET button is. There’s not that many settings to change but put an up and down button at least. The screen displays the device temperature, voltage and current usage, how long it has been charging and how many kWh it has used. It has an LED strip to indicate charging status. That’s it, nothing else on this unit. No physical buttons. It has a feature to set a timer to start charging, up to 12 hours. This does not have bluetooth or wi-fi connectivity and so no app or software either. At least I can get the charging info from my car’s app.
17 foot cable is not long enough, 25 foot would work for me. My car’s charging port is on the left front of the car and my outlet is located on the back wall of my garage. In my case I have to park head in to use it. The outlet plug has wings to make unplugging a bit easier but I wish it the pull handle like some plugs have. It has mounting holes, OOPS not holeS. It has ONE mounting hole in the back for mounting it on the wall. This is a portable unit but I don’t know where I can easily find a 14-50 outlet in my area so this unit will just stay on my wall. I think the outlet plug should come from the bottom of the unit so that the unit can be installed above the outlet and the cable going to the car should be at the top or to the side. There’s also no cable management on the unit. This unit does have Ground Fault protection that you can actually turn on or off and I don’t why you would want to turn it off but it turns out, I needed to turn it off because my house didn’t have good grounding. At least this is what the unit told me when I tried turning it on. Yes, it does work with it turned off but it does make me insecure about it being off. 220V GFCI breakers are not cheap. No oudoor, rainy day charging for me I guess.
The unit is built well and the cables seems to be thick and rugged enough to take some beating. The 3 hours that it takes to charge my car compared to 7+ hours is a huge plus for me. There’s a few things that I didn’t like about this unit but they’re not deal breakers for me. Maybe due to the price of this unit, which I think is fair. Oh, maybe that one hole mounting thing might get to me, lol.

Reliable, Compact and Efficient: Rexing J1772 32A

I recently received the Rexing J1772 32 Amp EV Charger for review.
I was looking for another electric vehicle charger for my house. I already had the 240 volt Nema 14-50 wall outlet I used with my portable charger that came with my vehicle.
The charger comes in a great looking zippered carrying case. The small rectangular charger fits neatly in it making it an ideal portable charger. All the charger functions can be set from a single button on the charger. No app is needed or provided. 6 parameters are displayed on the front panel, device temp, charging current, charging voltage,Kwh charger, current settings and charging speed
The charger has a large LED bar that lights up with colors Blue during standby or setting up, Green blinking during charging and solid when it is finished and Red if there is a charging fault.
This charger automatically started at 32 amps. It has lower settings (16 and 26 amps) if your EV needs lower settings. The settings menu can be accessed by holding the setting button for 3 seconds. The other settings are for timed charging and disabling ground protection .
The charger can be mounted on a wall but there is only a single mounting hole at the top. You could perhaps add additional support with a ½ pipe clamp of appropriate diameter on the bottom around the plastic surrounding the charging cable if you are permanently mounting it for more support. I wish Rexing sold a cradle that you could mount that included a hanger for the charging cable so you could easily remove the charger when you wanted to take it with you or leave it mounted. The single hole mount is ok but not ideal for permanent mounting. With that all said it is clear Rexing positions this as a primarily portable charger to be taken out of its storage bag and used when needed.
The Rexing J1772 charger is sturdy and has solid construction. Its compact and minimalist design blends well with my garage setup, and the materials used appear to be of high quality. The charging cable is 17 feet long enough to reach my car comfortably, making it convenient to park and charge without any hassle.
The 32 Amp charging capacity of this unit ensures that my electric vehicle charges fairly quickly. It's a notable improvement over slower chargers, cutting down my charging time significantly.
Using the Rexing J1772 charger is as simple as it can be. It’s plug-and-play by design - you plug it into your power source then your EV's charging port, and it starts charging automatically. The LED indicator lights on the charger provide clear status information, showing when the charger is actively charging (blinking green), finished (solid green), or in standby mode(solid blue).
The Rexing J1772 has all the important safety features. The unit does a self check when it is plugged in. It has built-in protection against over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuiting. The safeguards protect your EV and home during the charging process.
The Rexing J1772 32 Amp EV Charger is a solid choice for electric vehicle owners seeking a reliable, compact and efficient charging solution. Its sturdy compact build, fast charging speed, ease of use, and safety features make it a great addition to any EV charging setup. The price point of the Rexing J1772 32 Amp EV Charger is reasonable, especially considering its charging capacity and build quality. In my opinion the reliability and efficiency make it a worthwhile investment for EV owners looking for a dependable charging solution.

Cheaper in price than the official GM charger. We recently bought a used Chevy bolt and it came with a level 1 charger. The house we live in has a connection to a level 2 charger plug. Right away we knew we needed a level 2 charger as level 1 was not going to work for us. We purchased one directly from GM thinking this was the only option, and it was not cheap. This Rexing level 2 charger works just as well as the GM one and is cheaper and has some better options. I really like that the Rexing charger has a cover over the charging plug. We leave the charger plugged in, but its outside in the weather. The GM charger did not have a cover over the charging plug and that worried me that water would get in and short it out or cause damage to the car if the plug was wet. So having the Rexing with the cover offers me some peace of mind. The Rexing is weather resistant and has held up in some heavy rainstorms. I also like that the Rexing comes with a carrying/storage bag.
Using the on-screen display for the Rexing is a little strange and I struggled to make changes (probably user error). However, once I got it setup, I no longer have a need to make adjustments. You can also adjust charging times; I didn't see a need for this since the car is setup to charge only overnight. The cord length is more than sufficient to reach our car from the wall.
Overall I really like this charger as it works well and seems have a good build quality. The only advantage the official GM one has is you can swap out the charging connector to a level one or swap in the level 2. This is handy when you are traveling as it gives you access to both charging types while only having one charger. Thats still not enough to sway me to the GM one over the Rexing as this is not a long-distance vehicle and is only used for around the city.
I have some other Rexing products and they all seem well made and work great. I wouldn't hesitate buying this brand in the future. So if you need a level two car charger this one is worth checking out based on the quality and price.

Ive been using the Rexing - J1772 Level 2 Nema Portable electric charger to charge my car and so far have had no issues. It has a max input of 32A and a max output of 240V. I do find that it charges my vehicle faster than my normal electric charger that i bought from chevy. This charger is universal which is great because I am planning on getting another electric vehicle and will be able to use this charger for it as well... or if someone ever needed to borrow one i would have one that fits their vehicle as well.
I love that it has a 17ft extention on it because lets face it, sometimes i do not park right in our garage and forget that i need to charge so having a longer exte tion is very helpful because it will reach no matter how i park.
The LED indicator lights are great to have because it lets me know where im at in my charge. I love that its compact and easy to use, comes with a case so i can bring it along with me whenever i travel. I love that it is weatherproof because i never know what the weather is going to be like here and ive always been worried to leave it charging during weather. Overall it charges my little car quickly, its easy to use and its universal.

I strongly suggest if you have a tesla to look into owning a Rexing charging cord such as these.
The quality is synonymous with anything that Tesla makes but if a different brand and it’s more readily available at your regular electronic stores or online. It’s super easy to use but I suggest watching YouTube for extra details.
I prefer having options and this is what the charging cord has provided.
Again, the quality is good for Xtreme hot weather like Texas and also cold weather and northern states.
It’s also good for Xtreme rain has everything is protected with quality rubber, and there are no outlets for any thing to be damaged once you connect it to the charging port and your vehicle.
I’m a huge fan of how Rexing has packaged the product and that the carry case is very thin organized and can be carried anywhere within your vehicle, stored and pulled out whenever needed. The buttons lights up, you press in for charging and all goes green when u r hood to go.
Overall, this is a 10out of 10 product for charging your Tesla.
I’m sure there are other products to try but when you figure out what you like, I’m sure you will come back to this particular product.

Charged my Chevy Bolt EUV 24 miles / Hour

Charged my Chevy Bolt EUV 24 miles / Hour.
9.6Kwh setting adds 80% capacity back into my ev's battery in under 5 or 6 hours. All ev's slow down as they reach full capacity.
Came in a neat round carrying case with handles for easy portability. The standard EV charging plug feels very sturdy and solid, almost like it were made of solid metal. REXING backs their charger with a 18-month warranty. Just be sure to register the unit.
Attached to a NEMA 14-50P plug is an 18-inch SO cord which is made from a 3-conductor 10AWG plus 18AWG. It again feels solid as do the ground pin and power blades.
Using the control button on the power box, you can set the charging rate and also set the timer. Nice feature , just set it and forget it. I disagree with the part description of a nEMA 15-50 as the plug end has the words 14-50P molded into it. But remember, it is a thinner copper SO cord with 10 gauge, not 8-AWG as I am use to. So don't expect to pushe it any further than that. Some EV's come with a charger, but the rate they work can be as different as day or night so compare all manufacturer specifications. Nice water resistant housing and case.
The module does have a slotted screw hole for hanging on the wall.

Great Little 32A EV Charger - Includes Case

I have an F-150 Lightning and have been using the 240V mobile adapter that Ford sells with the truck to charge my vehicle at home. It’s only 30 amp and the charging rate constantly will slow down to half, sometimes even a fourth of what it should be, resulting in charge times that end up being hours longer than I was expecting. Perhaps it is overheating especially in the Texas heat we’ve had this summer.
The Rexing adapter, however, can maintain a charging rate of about 7.5 kW/h throughout the entire charge session. The truck finishes charging very close to the original estimate it gives when I start the session. This adapter is svelte and compact. It comes with a carrying case which makes it easier to store in the frunk of the truck and a long 17ft cable. The charging port also includes a rubber cover to keep the contacts clean when not in use. It has a charging indicator status light and a monochrome LCD screen that shows the current the amperage, the energy output, and temperature of the adapter, which I saw go as high as 56 °C after an overnight session. The cable felt warm but not anything more than what I’m used to when charging.
The only downside I can think of is on a properly installed NEMA 14-50 outlet you could charge at a max of 40 amps (80% rule) but this adapter only supports 32A. For myself, my outlet is only on a 40 Amp breaker, meaning my max is 32A anyway. If 32A is too much because either your car or home cannot support it then you can dial down the adapter to 10, 16 or 24 amps using the Set button.
Pros:
Nema 14-50 Level 2 Charging
Easy to Read LED Screen
Can be set to lower amperage
Compact
Includes Carrying Case
Will turn off if overheats
Cons:
No support for 40 Amp
Overall – This adapter does a great job at keeping my truck charged. It performs much better than the one that was delivered with my vehicle.

I recently purchased this Portable EV Charger, and it’s been an absolute game changer for my electric vehicle charging routine.
Pros:
• Convenient and Easy to Use: Setup was plug-and-play. Just connect it to a standard 120V/240V outlet and your car – no complex installation required.
• Perfect for Travel or Emergencies: It fits neatly in my trunk, making it perfect for road trips or as a reliable backup in case I can’t reach a public charger.
• Solid Build Quality: The cable feels thick and durable, with weather-resistant housing that gives peace of mind even when charging outdoors.
• Decent Charging Speed: On a 240V outlet, I’m getting solid Level 2 performance – usually around 20-30 miles of range per hour, depending on my car.
• Clear Display & Smart Features: The LCD shows real-time charging status, and some models even support scheduled charging and adjustable amps.
Cons:
• A bit bulky/heavy: It’s portable, but still a bit chunky – not ideal if trunk space is limited.
• Slower on 120V: On a regular outlet, it’s more like a trickle charge (3-5 miles/hr), but that’s expected from Level 1.
Bottom Line:
If you drive an EV, having a portable charger is a smart investment. This one delivers safety, speed, and convenience – whether you’re at home, visiting family, or out camping. I wouldn’t leave home without it.

No more "charging unexpectedly stopped" messages

My household currently has 2 EVs (Rivian and Tesla) and with having a extra NEMA 14-50 plug the Rexing J1772 worked great.
The Rexing is well built and from the feel of it can handle most weather conditions, now I didn’t have to worry about this very much since my plug was inside my garage but if yours is outside it should not be a problem.
Having 2 EV’s in the house I have purchased 3 generic level 2 chargers and the biggest complaint I have about them is that the wire gets very hot to the touch and this was not an issue with the Rexing. I have left my truck charging overnight and every time I have checked the wire I do not burn my hand touching the wire. I also noticed that I did not have any alerts from my EV’s in the morning saying “charging unexpectedly stopped” message which helped ease any range anxiety issues.
I was able to get 22-24 miles per hour on average when charging, from time to time it would just up to 26-27 but never saw higher than that number. I have also tried adding an attachment to the Rexing to charge my other EV and noticed that even with the adapter in front of the Rexing my other EV would get the same charging speeds.
Overall the Rexing is a good charger that is better than most, if not all other no OEM chargers, it is well built and reliable from my personal use.

The Rexing J1772 32A portable charger is great because it is universal so in case friends come over and they need to charge their vehicle, the charger is there in the garage.
The charging is level 2 so it charges fast using input up to 32A and with max output of 240V. I also like that the cable is long enough (17ft) to do that.
I like the LED indicator in front as well as the display, both very useful. The LED indicator flashes green while charging and is solid green when it is done. It also has different colors with different indications.
The display does offer more information, device temperature, KWh charged, Current settings, Charging Speed (KW), Charging voltage and charging current.
The charger also has a button in front and with this button I can change the current, 10A, 16A and 32A. I can also set a timer to charge, from one hour to twelve hours.
I also really like that it has an overheat protection, ground fault protection as well as surge protection.
Overall it is a good charger to have; it is a good replacement as well as a good backup.

This portable level 2 EV charger provides quick charging and is sturdy and durable. It is easy to operate, just plug it in and follow the intuitive steps on the screen to get going. Being level 2 compatible, it charges the entire car battery in approximately 2 hours in comparison to the level 1 charger which takes forever to charge. This is just perfect when I need a rapid charge when in a rush and save some dollars on the gas. The fact it has a rubber cover to protect the charger when not in use is good to have. My charger that came with the car doesn't have such protection and I was always worried that the bad weather may short it out. The cable length is just right for my current set up but I may need an extension if I plan to change the parking spot. The cable quality is sturdy and looks like it can withstand extreme weather conditions. Moreover, this worked well in my vehicle never gave me a message saying that charging unexpectedly stopped. It comes with a bag which comes in handy either to keep it safe or carry it around while traveling. Overall, this serves it's purpose well.

it works. supposedly waterproof; I am using it outdoors. one button easy to change settings to 10A, 16A, 24A, 32A. 17 ft cord is not quite long enough for my use case, so I will need to buy an extension cord. I would suggest measuring the distance you need ahead of purchasing. Level 2 is a lot faster because it's double the voltage and double the current so the charging speed is ~4x.

I have owned a few Rexing products and have had great experience with all of them. From the dash cameras to most recently the Tesla to J1772 adapter. I also have reached out to them for technical support and they have been really helpful. This company is legit. So I was very happy to see that they now make chargers for EV's.
In the box is the charger itself which is in a good carrying case and the instruction manual. The manual itself is simple and straightforward which I appreciate. The only gripe I have is that the instruction manual is kinda small and my old eyes had to go back into the house to get my reading glasses. LOL. But after going through the manual and a setting the charger up to the amperage which I wanted, I plugged in the unit and it started charging. Now, the manual tells you after the first initial time, the vehicle will need time to recognize the charger. Mine had no issues. What I really like about this charger as opposed to my old charger was the option to charge at 16, 26 or 32 amps. You can also set the unit to how long to charge as well. I did have one issue which was not the chargers fault. My 240 outlet had a bit of a lip on the housing so the charger does not sit flush. A hard yank of the cable and the connectors would come loose. Other than that, it is a great ev charger and charges my car super fast.

Great EV Charging Cord - Configurable / Adaptable

First impressions - After noting the specs on the box, I removed the new cord from the package
and checked over the included carrying case. The case is a nice touch to avoid cord spaghetti!
This charger is rated for use on 220v for up to 32 amps. The control box feels solid, the cord
itself has appropriate strain relief connectors and the end plug sockets in firmly.
This cord feels solidly built !
Overall Use -
I have utility sockets in my garage that are "known" - i.e. 10 and 8 gauge wire direct run from 50A
breakers. I configured this cord to the full 32A and it works perfectly at a full load. This cord
can be adapted to a 14-30 with an adaptor pigtail easily - i.e. to one of the most common clothes
dryer plugs - just remember to dial the amperage back to what the outlet can safely handle !
Either way - At full rate or adapted to a standard dryer plug - this cord works exactly as advertised
and can be "dialed back" if you choose to adapt it to a lower amerage outlet. I have successfully used this
to charge at 32A on my utility / welding outlets and at 26A at a friend's house where the dryer outlet
had a 30A breaker.
What I love !
-LED screen with indicators !
-17 feet of cord with control box
Could be improved -
- Control Box awkwardly close to the wall plug.
Recommendation for Rexing -
- I would gladly pay slightly more for an additional 6-10Ft of cord !

I am not an electrical engineer, so volts and amps don’t really mean anything to me. Before ordering I contacted Rexing. Customer service was great. They said although it says 240V that means it can be plugged into a plug that supports up to 240V, i.e. a 220V plug would be fine. I have a 220V connection on the outside of the garage so I ordered. Turns out the 220V plug at my garage was “old style” 3 prong outlet and this charger needs the “new style” 4 prong grounded electric plug. At least that’s what my handman whose specialty is electric work said. Went to the hardware store, bought a 4 prong plug and he installed it. See the picture of the box, it has a picture of the plug you need. What I really like about the Rexing charger (besides the carry case) is it tells you how long it’s been charging. And when the charge is complete you can see how long it took to charge. From 0 charge to full charge, the Rexing 32V Level 2 charger charged my hybrid in 2 hours and 50 minutes. I have access to a Level 2 charger that was installed about 18 months ago so I plugged in the car at 0 charge and that one took just over 3 hours to fully charge my car. This charger comes with a carry case (awesome) and has a 17 foot cord which was needed when I plugged into the outlet outside the garage and had to put the cord over the car to get to the plug in port.

Very pleased with my purchase. Easy to use. Fits neatly in zipper case under the deck of the car trunk. I had expected to use it mainly with 14-50 outlets, then arrived at friend's house and found their RV outlet was TT-30. It was easy to obtain the correct adapter. Have now used this charger several times with the adapter to plug into a 30 amp TT-30R outlet. Easy to set amps to 24A, then it charged my Ioniq5. Using it with my Hyundani Ionic 5. At 32 AMPS setting, it was pushing over 7 KWH. I then realized my panel was 32 AMPS so reduced the setting to 24 AMPS and am still getting 5 KWH.
The unit has on-device capability for delayed charging, but the UI is extremely unfriendly. But for the price, I am not expecting it.
