The J1772 plug is found in many level two public chargers. You will need this adapter if you have a Tesla and want to charge at these chargers. This adapter supports a maximum of 80A, 20kW, and 250V. Many of the public level two chargers output around 3-11kW at 240V. We have a Topgolf membership and go to the driving range a couple times a month. They have Volta charging stations there and they are free. It uses the J1772 and this adapter is what I use to charge my Tesla. The fit is a little snug in my car’s charging port. I sometimes get notifications on the app if not plugged in all the way. The LED indicator on the charge port also turns yellow/amber to indicate that it’s not plugged in all the way. Once connected properly, I would get a maximum of 8kW, 40A, and 204V. It’s great charging for free at the driving range. The label on the product is J1772 to NACS. It is cool to see the “Tesla plug” be referred to as NACS now. Even though NACS will become more common, it is always good to have these adapters as many free public chargers may stay with this plug for many years.

    Great J1772 Alternative

If you need a replacement of a J1772 for your Tesla this Rexing connector will do the work. The Rexing J1772 to Tesla adapter is a great alternative to the original adapter provided by Tesla. It’s made of great durable quality and it gives you access to more charging stations. The adapter does not come in a nice case like the Rexing CCS counterpart which would’ve been nice but it’s not a deal breaker. So far the J1772 adapter works great with no issues. The only small drawback was that it was a bit of a tight fit when plugging the adapter into my Tesla Model Y. It appears as if the Tesla side of the adapter is slightly thicker than the standard Tesla plugs. This connector has a max amperage of (80A) giving you a max of 20KW of charge per hour. During my used I was getting an approximately 7kw of charge, but of course that will depends on the charging stations. I am satisfied with this adapter and would recommend it as an alternative if you don’t have a J1772 to Tesla adapter or if you are looking for a replacement. In the box you get the adapter and some manuals.

The Rexing J1772 to Tesla adapter seamlessly latched onto the ChargePoint L2 charger, enabling me the ability to charge my Tesla M3. It felt durable and strong enough to last a while. However, the very first time I used it, I struggled a bit to push it into my M3’s charging port. That said, it got better after the first use. Point to note is to ensure a secure fit on the initial use. The ability to place this on my Tesla charging cord is definitely easy. Like previously stated it got easier to push it into my charger port after a few tries. The adapter was attached and the charging worked as expected. No issues with taking it off and storing it. This will definitely be a nice adapter to use as i travel and need to use level two chargers at different locations. I would highly recommend this adapter for its durability and consistency to connect and charge. IT giant create any excessive heat nor any other degradation effects. Works as expected now that it has been connected a few times and would highly recommend this adapter to my friends

Just too snug a fit when connecting to Tesla

This Rexing J1772 to Tesla Vehicle Charger Adapter can be used at any J1772 Level 1 or Level 2 charging stations for added charging options and convenience. On appearance levels the quality seems pretty good and the adapter is fairly compact and light for portability and storage, along with being rated for outdoor charging. We did notice that the edge in some spots was scraped and kind of scuffed, but after contacting Rexing were told that this occurs as part of the manufacturing process. Also, getting setup to use the charger adapter is easy as far as connecting it to the J1772 charger, but then pushing it into the Tesla connector on the vehicle is not an effortless, smooth glide. The force required to push the adapter into the Tesla made us pause at first as we didn’t want it to get stuck, but with a bit more effort we were able to connect the adapter to the Tesla and it did charge just fine. In comparison, the adapter supplied by Tesla inserts into the connector quite easily with minimal effort. We also mentioned this difficulty to Rexing who responded to our email by saying they were working on enhancing this aspect to ensure seamless compatibility going forward. Perhaps they will continue to improve in this regard, but I was kind of surprised by their acknowledgement of the current fit and no offer to provide us a solution. At this time, I’d hold off on buying this current charger adapter model until the snug fit problem is resolved. For storage, just note that this does not come with a bag or case so plan accordingly.

If you have a Tesla and the nearest station is miles away or if you going on a trip and there aren't a lot of changing stations on the way. The Rexing J1772 to Tesla Adapter is a device that allows you to charge your Tesla electric vehicle at J1772 charging stations. J1772 is the most common charging standard in North America, so this adapter gives you access to a wider network of charging stations than you would have with just the Tesla charging connector. The adapter is made of high-quality materials and is designed to be durable and long-lasting. It is also weatherproof, so you can use it in the rain and I got the chance to do so too. The adapter is easy to use and comes with a protective case for storage. I have been using the Rexing J1772 to Tesla Adapter for a few weeks now and I am very happy with it. It has worked flawlessly and has allowed me to charge my Tesla at a variety of J1772 charging stations. The adapter is also very affordable, and we all need to have something affordable these days highly recommend that if you have a Tesla and your on the slightest go, this is a must have.

A Must Have For Any Tesla Owner

For the last few days, I've been reviewing the Rexing J1772 to Tesla charging adapter on my Model 3. The first thing I noticed about the adapter is how small it is (3 3/4 inches) and easily stowable. Also that it feels like a quality piece of tech. This adapter allows me to charge at most non tesla charging stations. Such as, the free Volta charging stations you find at the supermarket, some Electrify America stations, and/or a friend's house that has a J1772 charger. It really comes in handy when you are in a pinch and can't get to a regular Tesla charging station. Or when your local charging station is full. I tested the adapter a few times. It securely fits onto the J1772 charger with just slight resistance caused by the rubber seal on the J1772 plug. Other than that, it never got warm and I had no issues at all. I also like the fact that it can charge up to 80 AMPS which gets you up to the full charging capability of the J1772 connector standard. Which is about 19 KW. This is basically a must have for any tesla owner

If you’re using level 2 public chargers, most of them come with a J1772 plug. When I purchased my Tesla, it came with one included, but I have it hooked up to my home chargers all the time and forget to take it off when I maybe somewhere I could charge. The rexing adaptor works just like the original I use. I tested the chargers at a public ChargePoint and the amount of energy I got and how it hooked up worked just like if I used the original. So if you’re looking for an extra J1772 plug for a Tesla, this is a good option to use and works well just like the original that came with my car. There isn’t too much to say about it outside of that. The design is the same size and shape as the Tesla one, so besides the rexing wording on the side you cannot tell the difference. Its also black like the Tesla one and plugs in just like the one I have already. I would recommend this as a great alternative if you’re looking for a J1772 plug for your Tesla. Overall good experience from my use.

O 000 I strongly suggest making sure your connection will work with this part. If not, they have others. Since this is aftermarket, you expect it to feel less than the original but thats not the case. This part is well made and is a plastic of durable material. The quality matches that of the car. It comes with a small box for storage, so i keep it in the box and store it in my car out of sight. My mechanice looked over the part and said it was legit. I'm usually worried about the connection but not with this part. There is a clicking sound that it makes when you know its made a secure connection and i get it a small tug to double check and i'm good to go. The less i'm worried the more i can enjoy my trip. Being able to have options for charging is always a good idea. It can get really warm in texas so i wrapped the box it came in with a heat sheild so its not scolding hot to the touch when i need to use it. thats just a personal preferance. you may not have that problem. So far so good!

The Tesla charging stations are great, we usually plan ahead and have planned a route to ensure we can find a station in case we need it. We did our usual, planned our route on a small route trip to Palm Spring (from LA) and everything was fine. On our way BACK, all the Tesla stations were packed as a few of the stalls were down, and there was only 2 open stations. We left the factory adapter at home during the car cleaning, and luckily we had this little guy to the rescue. We were able to find a nearby non Tesla charging station and went to work right away. The adapter fits perfectly, we were able to start charging our car to hit the next station. It was no faster or slower than the factory adapter. It does feel a little tight/snug. I wonder what the design choice was, to make a snug fit so a clip wasn't needed or to make it a little looser so it would require a clip; probably for compatibility reason they went with the tight but no clip design. Some force was required to disengage the adapter. The piece itself feels sturdy, solid, industrial grade. Charged reliably, 30A 240, no disconnects. Works reliably as described and value appropriate to price, will recommend

Great replacement for the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter

The Rexing - J1772 to Tesla Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Adapter for Tesla is a nice replacement for the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter. The build quality is pretty good. However, I noticed it was made slightly different than the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter that comes came with my vehicle. I also noticed that it’s a tad bit lighter than the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter. Not sure if the in workings of the adapter uses lighter materials or if the plastic housing is made of lighter plastic materials. The adapter doesn’t plug in as smoothly as the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter but it works fairly well. The adapter does not come in a case or any type of pouch. Having some type of small case to put it in would have been a nice touch. I won’t complain too much since the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter did not come in a case well. Most Tesla owners, like myself, just place it in the glovebox or storage cubby in the center console. Tesla is constantly adding more and more Tesla Superchargers. However, there are areas where Tesla Superchargers are not readily available. This will allow you to charge your Tesla at non Tesla chargers. You will not be able to charge at the higher speeds that most Tesla owners have come accustomed to using the Tesla Superchargers, but it will allow you to charge your Tesla for those times when needed. It also comes in handy if you’re out shopping and want to use the charges in the parking lot of a business or if you’re staying at a hotel overnight that has EV chargers. There are quite a few other scenarios, but those were just a few. Overall, it’s a good replacement for the OEM Tesla J1772 adapter.
