Customers often highlight the R316 4K GPS WiFi Front & Cabin Cam for its clear video quality and ease of use. Many appreciate the built-in GPS and the camera's overall performance. The installation process, night vision, size, resolution, and sleek design are also well-received. However, some users have noted that the app usability could be improved.

The Rexing R316 4K Dash Cam is one of Rexing’s latest dash cameras on the market. It features higher than 4K + 1080P cabin recording simultaneously and app/Wi-Fi integration. Considering the features and price tag, this appears to be a good value on paper but image quality leaves something to be desired considering its advertised 4K specs.
In Th Box:
- Rexing R316 Dash Cam
- 64GB Micro SD Card
- 12V Car Power Cord (12ft)
- Suction Cup Mount with GPS
- Cable Management
- USB- C Smart Hardwire Kit
- User Manual
- Electrostatic Sticker
Setup:
Setting up the R316 is like most other dash cameras I have used in the past. The great thing about this kit is it comes with literally everything you need to be up and running. You have two options for powering the camera, 12V outlet or hardware kit. Both are included in the kit. If you choose to use the hardware kit, you can hook up an extra wire for constant power to use the parking mode functionality. Once you power up the camera with the SD card inserted, it will prompt you to format it before first use. Once this is done, you are ready to go.
Inside your vehicle you must place the suction cup in the center of the windshield and slide the camera into place and plug the USB C cable into the camera itself. The camera mount has a very small screw to adjust the angle of the camera for your window. The adjustments are very coarse and there is a significant angle change with one adjustment. Mine car really needed a spot in between two different spaces to make it film exactly straight out the front but this will differ by vehicle.
Usage:
I ran the camera at its default settings of 4K + 1080P for my testing but a secondary setting of 2.5K + 1080P can be used as well. After reviewing the footage on my computer of my first drive a few things stand out.
1. The file is a .ts file which is something I haven’t seen before. This doesn’t provide the frame rate of the video but based on what I am seeing the front (main) camera is shooting at a low frame rate. This is likely 24 FPS which translates into choppy looking video while moving. This is only worse at higher speeds.
2. The interior camera is rated at 1080p and has a more suitable frame rate (likely 30 fps) but lacks some color to the image. Overall, the interior camera quality is more in line with what I would expect from a cabin camera at this resolution.
3. The microphone quality is pretty good. It seems to pick up fairly low audio levels (mumbling, or low volume music).
After evaluating the footage, the main camera quality is disappointing based on the specifications. The frame rate is too low which causes the video to be choppy. The resolution and bit rate seem decent, but they don’t seem better than some 2K or 1600P cameras I have used in the past, all things considered. You can’t read license plates, road signs, or other small wording moving easily. They likely create this file type, bit rate, frame rate, etc. to save memory on the SD card. In one 20-minute session driving around the SD card had right at 5GB of space taken up.
App:
The app seems to work fine. It has all the basic functions including camera settings, recording on/off, and you can access previous files on the SD card.
Final Thoughts:
The Rexing R316 seems like a great camera on paper with 4K + 1080P recording. It has several pros including coming with all the necessary hardware to get the camera functioning but the camera mount adjustability and video quality from the front camera leave more to be desired. If this is your first dash cam, it might be impressive. If this isn’t your first camera, it might be a disappointing upgrade.
Likes:
- Kit includes EVERYTHING
- USB-C Powered
- Menu Easy to Navigate
Dislikes:
- Front Camera Frame Rate/Image Quality
- Camera Mount Adjustability (Tilt Increments Coarse)

I have been a Rexing customer for over 10 years, and this time it’s a very nice upgrade from my old dash cam. Let’s see what’s better:
• Well-designed, removable dash camera that is easy to use.
• Outstanding 4K resolution and 1080p performance.
• 3rd camera option (rear) – you can upgrade from 2 channels to 3 channels.
• New USB Type-C cable.
• 2nd camera that records video and audio inside the vehicle (a great tool for Uber and Lyft drivers, just in case of incidents).
• Includes a 64 GB micro SD memory card.
• Cigarette charger or smart hardware wire – Hard wiring kit connects to the car battery to run 24/7.
• WiFi connectivity to your cell phone.
• Built-in GPS feature records the vehicle’s speed, location, and route to video files, providing evidence of any incidents.

Feature Packed 4K Dash Cam with GPS!

The Rexing R316 4K Dash Cam with Wi-Fi & GPS is a very capable and fully featured cam. To begin, packaging was excellent and just about everything you need is included in the box. You do get a 128GB Micro SD Card. The memory can reach 256MG with an upgraded card. Everything was packaged safely and neatly boxed. I laid out all materials before I began installation and read through the instructions carefully. I recommend giving yourself at least a 1/2 day to get this installed so you can take your time and not rush it. Installation is pretty straight forward, but takes time with running the wires and connecting the devices. The unit itself is dual band Wi-Fi and works on both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz. That is a great feature of this unit. The front camera has a resolution of 4K and I found the picture to be clear and concise. Colors were pretty accurate, and even in low light conditions, I could just about everything clearly. The only thing that can be taught to see is roadsigns and license plates that are not clearly lit up. I expected that though. One feature I love about this unit, that I hope I never have to use, is the "Collision Detection". The unit instantly detects a collision and locks the footage and prevents it from being erased or overwritten. For my son's car which this is installed in, that gave me a great piece of mind. Again, I hope we never have to use the feature but I am happy it is there. Another awesome feature of this Rexing unit is the built in GPS. It accurately tracks your vehicle and tracks its speed and location. Again, for installing this in my son's car, this is super helpful for tracking him and his speed. Being able to record what is going on inside the cabin was a super important feature for obvious reasons, especially when the car is being driven by a young adult or teenager. I'm glad my son knows that everything is being recorded! Then to know the rear is being monitored as well makes this a triple winner. Overall I am super happy with the unit and its function. The 24/7 "Parking Monitor" makes it a home run. In terms of features and build design, this is a great unit. Whether you get the 2 channel unit or the 3 channel unit, it is a feature packed dash cam. In the end, it's a no brainer. Truly a must for any vehicle on the road today.

This camera replaces another Rexing camera that I've been using for the last 4 years or so.
This camera is excellent... The quality is good enough to easily read other vehicles' license plates while moving at 55mph. Screen size is good, with a bright, clear display.
Recorded videos definitely transfer to my mobile device quickly with the Wi-Fi feature, which is definitely a plus.
I really appreciate having the integrated GPS as well as the night vision/infrared for the cameras.
Hope to never have to employ the G-sensor, but it provides a certain peace of mind knowing it's there.
It's great that this includes a "cigarette lighter plug" and also the smart-hardwire kit, giving me the option of which install to use.
Bottom line: I would definitely recommend this camera!

I’ve been using the Rexing R316 for a bit, and it’s been great so far. The 4K front camera is super clear, and the cabin camera does what it needs to. Setup was easy, the suction mount holds well, and it starts recording right away without any messing around.
The GPS and WiFi are nice perks, though the app can be a little slow sometimes. The parking mode is also a good extra—nice to know the car’s being watched even when it’s off.
My only complaints are that the inside camera isn’t as sharp as the front, and the mount might loosen in hot/cold weather. But overall, for the price, it’s a solid, reliable dash cam that covers everything I need.

This dashcam do front and cabin recording and is capable for adding a rear camera, it has a port to connect a rear camera.
Front records at 4K while cabin records at 1080p.
As for video quality, I can see license plate clearly 1 car length away not more.
Cabin camera is very clear but seems to have the IR switched on all the time even at day time, hence the color of the video is off.
It is powered by a usb type c port.
Mounting it is very easy as it is using suction cup, easy to move between vehicle too.
It includes a 64GB microSD card, smart hard wire kit and car power adapter.
The smart hard wire kit only cut off when battery is 11.8V or below and no way select a different voltage. I prefer one that allow me to select the cut off voltage as I feel 11.8V is too low for my car.
The wifi support 2.4GHz and 5GHz and I have success connecting using the 2.4GHz, not sure why my phone cannot find the 5GHz access point when I enable the 5GHz wifi on the dashcam.
This dashcam can control using Rexing Connect app but it is not necessary.
It is not using a built-in battery so it can have wide working temperature range, from 20F to 176F. I guess it is using a capacitor as temporary power storage.
It has a 3.16" super wide screen so front and cabin view can displayed side by side. If you just want it to display single view, the video is widened to fit the width making everything look fat.
It has built in GPS so it can record your speed. On top of that, it allows adjusting date and time of the dashcam automatically. However, there is no way to turn off the GPS or speed tracking.
I find that the speedometer is pretty accurate.
Only thing missing is that it has no voice command, I can't say "keep video" or "take a picture". I had to press and hold the 3rd button to keep a video. The button is not shaped or sized or colored differently so after a while you won't remember which button to press.

I needed a dash cam quickly and found this one on sale. Installation was super easy and took under 10 minutes. The camera works well, and transferring videos to my PC is simple. I’d suggest getting an extra memory card so you don’t have to worry about storage filling up. Definitely happy with this purchase.

I am very pleased with this camera so far. I now have a Rexing dash camera in each of the four vehicles in my household, the oldest of which is six years old. All have functioned flawlessly and perform well. This one is a nice upgrade from previous models with the adhesive mount. Not only is the suction mount easier to attach and remove, but the shape of the camera also helps the screen to remain visible without blocking my line of sight. I have it positioned just to the right (passenger side) of my rear view mirror, and it is easy to glance over to see that the camera is recording. I have been using it with the cabin-facing camera (blocked in the picture to protect my privacy. The split-screen shows the forward-facing view on the left and the cabin-facing view on the right. The controls (buttons on the bottom of the body of the camera) are more straightforward to use than those in previous Rexing models. I appreciate having an SD card included and the hardwire kit in case I decide to hardwire the camera to my car. Overall, this is an excellent evolution of an already great series of cameras.

I'm always worried about how hard the install will be - running wires around and trying to hide them. This was super easy. It took me 5 minutes from unboxing to having it on with cords hidden. Another few minutes to go through the setup menus. The trickiest part was the diagram showing how to install the micro sd was backwards for my camera, but still worked after some fidgeting with it. The sd card didn't work right away, but the screen prompted me to format the card and it works great now. I did not do the hard wiring to the fuse box for the parking monitoring though. I'm not sure I'll ever do that. I'm too nervous about messing up the car's electronics.

I had never heard of Rexing before receiving the Rexing R316 4K GPS Wi-Fi with Front and Cabin cams, so I was excited about trying it out. One of the greatest aspects of product competition is that manufacturers are constantly trying to offer bigger and better options to buyers in order to gain their business. And that was what I was expecting as I tested out the Rexing, bigger and better.
The dash cam comes neatly and efficiently packed into a nice compact box. I loved that there wasn’t an excessive amount of plastic, and for the most part, the box is completely biodegradable. That is a huge plus for me. The box contains the front facing dash cam, a removable cabin cam, a hardwire kit, a USB-C cable with pigtail power cord, windshield mount, and all the typical literature…User Manual, Warranty Information, Contact Information, etc, and much to my joy, it also comes with a memory card. This was another huge plus! Thank you Rexing for keeping me from having to hunt high and low for a spare memory card and a possible trip to the store!
After unpacking everything, the next step was to download the Rexing Connect app. The app is used for connecting the dash cam to wi-fi. This is where I started running into obstacles. According to the app, once you turn wi-fi on (on the dash cam) a screen will appear showing the SSID and Password. This did not happen. Instead I got to a screen stating that wi-fi not found. I went to settings on my phone, found the Rexing, but when attempting to connect this way, I was prompted for the Rexing password. I was attempting to do this from the car. So being unsuccessful, I took the Rexing inside and was going to try and connect. No success there either. Whenever I turned on wi-fi, the dash cam powered down. This happened every single time. Well, okay, maybe I don’t really want to connect to wi-fi anyway…
Overlooking the wi-fi issue (which included several searches for a solution on the internet), I decided to use the dash cam without wi-fi. This was a plus for the R316 as it is as simple as mounting it to the included suction mount and plugging in the power source. Once plugged in, the camera powers up, and a quick push of a button and it begins to record. For some reason, Rexing decided to put the USB-C power port on top of the camera rather than the bottom, or even the side. I don’t like leaving the camera plugged in once I get home or work, so I unplug it. The topside power port is a little awkward when unplugging the unit.
The display screen is nice, albeit a bit small, especially when using the rear-facing cabin cam, and the display screen splits in half…one half for the front-facing cam, and the other half for the rear-facing cam. I like the cabin-facing cam as I can see where folks who might be carrying passengers, such as Uber drivers, would find this extremely useful in case something happened. The R316 display stays on, but the screen-saver function can be accessed via the menu options. Now, since I’ve mentioned the menu options, I found that navigating the options absolutely should not be done while you are driving. Yes, I know there are those who will try it anyway, but because of the amount of attention one will need to devote to scrolling through the three different screens of options, this should not be done while driving. That’s about all I need to say about that.
Once the unit is powered on, it begins recording automatically. Once you learn the location, a quick push of the “OK” button will toggle the recording function on or off. After three days of recording, I decided I wanted to review the recorded contents. Because I was unable to connect the unit via wi-fi, I was limited to viewing recording using the onboard menu. This was a frightful ordeal. Rexing decided to use an extremely long video identification label, meaning that each clip name takes up so much space that it is almost impossible to figure out exactly which clip you want to access, especially when speaking in terms of several days’ worth of recordings. This is where I really wished the camera would have been able to connect to wi-fi so that I could at least review the recordings using a much larger phone screen.
All in all, my experience with the Rexing R316 has not been good. The inability to connect to wi-fi, the constant powering down when attempting to turn wi-fi on when connected to a power source inside my house, along with the other issues, I find I have a hard time trying to recommend the R316 to anyone looking for a decent dash cam. It could very well be that my experience is unique (which I hope is the case) and that the camera has a defect or two that’s keeping this particular unit from functioning as it should, I don’t know. But like I said, my experience has not the best.

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the Rexing R316. It sounds like you had high hopes for the dash cam, and I appreciate your insights on both the positive aspects and the challenges you faced.
I’m glad to hear you liked the packaging and the inclusion of the memory card—it’s always nice when a product considers sustainability and convenience! However, I’m sorry to learn about the difficulties you encountered with the Wi-Fi connection and the display features.

This is my 4th Rexing dash camera. First one I bought in 2017, I am still using it in my wife's car, and never had any issues with it. Second one I bought in 2019 for my dad's birthday, and he is still very happy with it. Third one I bought in 2019 for my friend on his birthday, we installed it together, he is still using it, and also very happy with it. This one I bought for my new car. I installed it myself a few days ago, and the whole process was simple and easy. I tested, and been able to use it thus far without any problems what so ever. This dash camera is the most features packed and advanced one. I like that there is a choice for either a hardwiring or USB-C wire installation. I greatly appreciate the ability to connect to the camera via wi-fi, and transfer photos and videos quickly. It has great field of view (170 degrees), video quality from front, rear, and cabin cameras are of great quality any time of the day, it has Automatic Incident Detection with GPS build-in, and it even comes with a memory card included. You just have to install it once, set it up, and it will keep running automatically, so you can forget about it. It records in loops, and it has videos accessible any time you need them either via wi-fi, via memory card (removable), or you can just watch them on the camera's screen. Great dash camera, and I highly recommend it.
