Love the science fi movie in this collection. Awesome action

Love the series. Wish that the animated was available in HD and was included with the digital copies

It's a very comprehensive set for fans of the films.

At first glance it seems like the plot of "Riddick" closely resembles that of "Pitch Black". It seems like there is only soo much you can do to place a mass murderer in a situation where his "surgical shine job" gives him the edge. While I am on that subject, in pitch black he tells jack that he got a surgical shine job while in prison that gives him his vision abilities, then in Riddick, we find out that supposedly the "furyons" which are his people have his eyes inherent to the race... just a plot hole I noticed... Now back to the review. While from watching this movie, it does explain what happened after "the chronicles of riddick" with a decent amount of flashbacks, I wish they had left him as the leader of the necromongers and had the whole movie take place during and expanding on said flashbacks, that way this movie "riddick" could come out as the next movie in the franchise. Im sure the studio had its reasons for doing so but it just leaves me wishing they expanded on his time as leader of the necromongers. Overall I enjoyed the movie and will watch it again in the future, if you are a fan of the franchise... its worth the buy. P.S. the box set is great.

This set was worth getting at the price. Not only do you get the extended, unrated cuts of the entirety of the Riddick series in great HD transfer, but you get their Digital copies and a fair bit of extras. As someone who missed out on some of the epic deals they did for Terminator last year with its Collection, I made it up for getting Die Hard and Underworld's collections. This year, it was Riddick, Lord of the Rings (Extended), and Alien with their complete sets. Usually, getting them in one set's a good price. This one sweetens the deal and it is easily a must have for a subtle sci-fi series that highlights a solid character.

For those unfamiliar with the Riddick series, the first movie is a sci-fi horror/creature film in which the titular Riddick happens to feature alongside a cast of mostly likeable characters. From there the series changes into more of a sci-fi epic hinting at greater things to come before going back to it's roots for the third movie in favor of a smaller scale with a focus on other characters again. Overall the series is worth a watch if you are a fan of science fiction as there is nothing else quite the same as Riddick and the universe imagined in the films can be quite interesting.

Had this in DVD so got it in blue-ray. Which is a better picture to see.

Having all 3 Riddick movies plus all of their director's cuts AND the animated film in the same place for a great price is awesome. The movies are fun and exciting, giving today's action heroes a run for their money. The picture and sound for the primary movies are excellent but it is very disappointing to see the animated film Dark Fury not in HD. SD features have LONG outstayed their welcome in an HD world and DO NOT belong on a bluray unless the movie's too old for the format and a quality source for an encode on the special features can't be found. Dark Fury came out only about 10 years ago. Very cheap on universal's part. But other than that I'd recommend this to anyone who likes action, sci-fi, or good storytelling.

OKAY...I WILL BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT IT....RIDDICK ROCKS...EVEN FOR AN OLD GUY. THIS IS A STRAIGHT UP ACTION FLICK WITH A CHARACTER THAN NO ONE BUT VIN DIESEL COULD PLAY. HE GETS TO BRING A LITTLE MORE LIFE TO THE CHARACTER WHILE STILL PLAYING THE ANTI-HERO AND EVEN MANAGES TO GET THE GIRL - ONLY THING THAT ANNOYED ME WAS THAT THE DOG DIED! PREDICTABLE...MAYBE...BUT IF YOU'RE A FAN...WHO CARES...AND ON TOP OF THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN FOR ANOTHER MOVIE. HOPEFULLY WILL SEE THEM EXPAND ON THE STORYLINE AS WELL AS THE HISTORY AND FATE OF FURYAN - MAYBE YOU CAN GO HOME?!

Was very pleased to find the collection on Blu-ray at a great price. Recommend for adult sci-fi fans - these are not appropriate for kids. Unique setting, with some interesting & atypical aspects to the characters and world. Special effects, set design & costuming surprisingly good considering these weren't on blockbuster budgets. Recommend for adult fans of sci-fi and/or Vin Diesel.

If you are a fan of the Riddick movies and don't already have them on Blu-Ray, this is a good way to grab all of them at once and get them on digital HD UltraViolet at the same time (except for the animated short, Dark Fury - you don't get a digital copy of that one). One drawback is that you do not get the movies on DVD, in case that is important to you. Otherwise the videos look very good, and if you haven't used UltraViolet's service in the past it's gotten much better. You can link with Flixster and VuDu so you can watch your collection on your iPad, PlayStation, Android, etc. I used to hate UltraViolet but it's starting to grow on me.

Riddick is one of my favorite Vin Diesel characters. I had looked around when I bought my Blu-ray player several years back for a Blu-ray version of Pitch Black. I wasn't happy with the options I found at that time. This set is perfect! The enhanced quality of Blu-ray makes watching the movies feel like I'm at a theater.

All 4 movies are worth owning. Riddick is an absolute beast. The last move, Riddick was predictable and felt like a slight remake of Pitch Black, but I still really enjoyed it. The Blu Ray versions of the movie are nice. Great picture quality and sounds. The extras are where the real benefits come in. Deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage and breakdown of the settings. It is nice to have all three released movies and the animated feature in one place.

If you are Riddick fan and wanna rewatch the series, this is perfect for you. This is such a great value for the content that you get you get the three movies and you also get the animated video the did. This is the best bang for your buck and then just going out and buying them by themselves this is so amazing.

One of Vin Diesal's best movie series. The directors cut is awsome, with lots of scenes that were cut to keep part 1 and 2 PG13. Part 3 was Vin Diesal's directorial debut and he made it rated R. Great set for anyone that liked the pitch black series and wants to watch the series in chronological order, including the animated short film between part 1 and 2. AWSOME!!

Not the best action or sci-fi around, but Vin plays Riddick to the teeth & never falls out of character. Of the 3 movies, the best is probably the first, mostly because of the cast & unexpected circumstances. The second is pretty good too, but Katie Sackoff is just perfect in the 3rd installment. Fans of Katie will not want to miss this! Price was right at 22.99 minus a $10 rewards credit!

I have always enjoyed these movies but only owned the Chronicles of Riddick on DVD. I saw this combination while walking through Best Buy and my wife just had to have the full collect on Blu-Ray. The movies look great and the full collect is a must if you enjoy even just one of them.

Want to kill Riddick? Well you can't because he's bada**... He's like fighting the Shredder except he never dies... Some of the fight scenes reminds me of my masters training, we call him splinter... This was good movie but not excellent there's scenes when he gets a good beating like Raph did that one time he was being emo on the rooftop... Well pizzas here gotta run...
