Posted .Hi QuentinM.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Smart Lighting Solar Wall Light so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having a solid connection ensures that you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring Smart Lighting Wall Light Solar is an outdoor, motion-sensing smart light that can be mounted to walls and other surfaces around the perimeter of the home. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your Ring Smart Lighting Solar Wall Light set up for optimal performance. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Smart Lighting Solar Wall Light is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Smart Lighting Solar Wall Light. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions. If there isn't sufficient sunlight where you’d like to place the device, you can also remove the device from the wall and recharge the included rechargeable batteries with a micro-USB cable.
Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your device, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing north.

Posted .Hello MyBella,
It is important that the features available to you on your Wall Light Solar meet your needs and expectations. We do appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring product for your home security.
The first step in maintaining a good solar charge throughout the year is ensuring your Smart Solar Light is properly installed in a well-lit area that receives direct sunlight for several hours per day. "Direct sunlight" is when the Sun hits your solar panels in a perpendicular fashion.
To ensure your solar panel receives direct sunlight, your device should be unobstructed by shade from trees or nearby structures, such as a home's shadow, overhangs, or trees. By ensuring your lights are mounted with a clear view of the Sun’s rays, you will maintain a steady charge rate during the day.
For people living in the US, this also means installing your light on the southern part of your home so your solar panels face true south - or towards the equator. Facing your panels south gives you the best chance of receiving direct sunlight. While you may still receive diffuse (as opposed to direct) sunlight rays when installing your light on the north side of your home, you are severely limiting your device’s charging capabilities. This is even more pronounced in winter months when sunlight is already lacking.

Posted .Hi there, thanks for your feedback! Your Ring Solar Wall Light will turn on with motion when it's dark outside. If you have other outdoor lighting near the Wall Light, this may prevent it from turning on.
