It keeps eyes on my place indoors and out and delivers exactly what I needed. The 3D motion detection is spot on with no more false alerts from a leaf blowing by. HDR video is crisp and the color night vision actually lets you see what is going on instead of just guessing at shadows. Battery life is solid, setup took minutes, and the app makes it simple to check in from anywhere. Reliable, clear, and built tough. Exactly what you want in a security cam.

It would show you live footage in real time as well as past footage. It allowed for you to personalize the settings and set what, when and the frequency of alerts you wanted to receive.

It is very easy to set up via the app, the battery life is 3-4 months with normal usage and the images are quite good. Notifications come to my phone quickly Buying this cam reminded me how important it is to read carefully the product description and check features needed. For some reason I thought this cam also had a light ( as the cam is listed for inside and outside use). It does not. That is relevant because this new cam was to supplement a tilt and pan cam that I thought operated on battery as well as plug in. The tilt / pan cam does have a light, and does have a plug and a battery. I thought the tilt-pan operated by battery and the plug would keep the battery always charged. So if I lost power the battery would take over. The battery life without the plug is quite short, less than a day

Had a break in over a month ago and they stole my camera, ring replaced it right away. after that about a week ago had another break in but this time i had the motion notifications sent to my phone. Even though I got the police there they got away. but i feel I would have lot a lot more property if the police didn't show up.

I was out of town and someone was in my backyard. My ring notified me. I was able to turn on the sound and scare them away. You also have an app that is for all ring customer to use. This allows you to know where crime is happening. Neighbors will alert you to the crime and they can share the video with you. Safety in numbers.

Easy to hook up to the existing Ring system within our household. I think it would be nice once the base is screwed into the wall/ceiling that you could rotate the camera 360 once attached. So, that said, just be careful to do a mock-up before drilling holes so you orient the camera correctly on the 1st attempt.

Setup is easy although sometimes it took a couple times to get the process started but not hard from there. Since it’s battery powered having your settings and alerts setup right is key. If you are looking to cover a high traffic area or have a lot of alters battery life may become and issue. Zoom is kind of fuzzy on videos. Also, catching a motion the first few seconds has to adjust before you have good video quality. Not sure what the issue is with that as my other wired ring devices do not have that issue.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
3. There are severe pauses in live video.
If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
4. There is a long delay before your video starts.
This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.

We put these outside on the far edges of our garage and can see our entire front yard. Love the bird's eye view to see the path people and animals take through our property.

Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

Excellent for security

Just need to put the solar panel in a good sunny spot so it charges the battery or else you will have to climb up a ladder and change the battery.

Love how the community uses it to help with package theft, missing/found pets and so on. Only issue is that we wanted it high up so that someone couldn't just cover or break/steal it, so the angle makes it a little wonky. The alert doesn't always work the way I want it to, but that might be a user error (although as a software prod dev I don't think so). Great price for a great little gadget!
