I got this really because I like Lucy Liu. I was pleasntly surprised by the plot and acting. Wasn't half bad. Michael Chiklis played his usual tortured soul type of character.

I bought this title with low expectations because I'd never seen any theatrical release information or publicity and was shocked to find that it is truly outstanding! This movie succeeds because of an excellent storyline and superior acting rather than depending upon just gore and special effects, very much like "The Hunger" and "Innocent Blood". The story takes place in a contemporary setting with Lucy Liu very well cast as a confused and extremely unwilling vampire very much bent upon extracting vengeance against the creature that deprived her of a previously happy and normal existence with strong family ties. Michael Chiklis eventually becomes her ally, cast as a grieving police detective who loses a daughter that he loved very much, even though their relationship was strained and dysfunctional. The vampires in this film are much more human than in most entries in the genre, relying upon small "sacrificial" knives rather than gaping fangs for their bloodletting and able to endure sunlight if need be, even though it's too bright and garish for their heightened senses, resulting in very believable creatures that could indeed be living amongst us, hiding in plain sight amongst the world of cults and fetishes. The action is constant throughout and suffused with dry wit that is much more adult than is commonly seen, making it a completely engrossing film that sucks you in at the beginning and holds your attention right up to the final scene. In my opinion, it's a shame that this film won't be seen by the audience it deserves because none of the major releasing companies would believe in it and give it the PR that could have made it a hit, thus it's a AA in B clothing.

This was a really good movie, my wife and I loved it! We had never heard of it and gave it a shot just because Lucy Liu was in it. We were suprised at how good it was. Good vampire flicks are hard to come by these days. Instead, we end up with b.s. like Twilight, which is just an insult to the vampire genre. This movie had a decent amount of action and gore, a unique plot, and little bit of dark humor. The cast is great with suprising cameos by Marilyn Manson, Robert Forster, Nick Lachey, and others. All around, this was a very entertaining movie. I highly recommend it! Also, some more recent vampire flicks that were good are 30 Days of Night, Bled, and The Hamiltons.

This by far was one of the worst vampire movies created. It should have been more of a cult movie. I found it to be disgraceful when putting it up against Bela Lagosi, or even George Hamilton.
In the future the producers should do more research into creating a horror movie on vampirism before they roll the camera and put out a finished product. I could not even rate this as a low budget "B" movie. I was truly disappointed in this movie after looking at the previews which made it tempting to purchase. Sorry, guys but I am a true vampire critic. Better luck next time.
