Best Version of This Classic With One Small Caveat

This is by far the best version of Road House on home video. The new transfer is stunning and blows the previous Blu-ray out of the water. It also has a nice selection of new and vintage bonus features.
Eagle-eyed viewers will want to go into their BD player's menu and change the HDMI output setting to RGB Enhanced (at least on Panasonic players) in order to correct for an authoring error that results in the movie playing the wrong colorspace. This change will correct the error and gives you a beautiful picture - just make sure to change it back when you're finished.
Highly recommended.

Great Action Flick...Extras?

Listen, if you're looking at buying this movie you've seen it already and you know it's a great 80's action movie. The HD transfer is okay and the looks better then the dozens of DVDs of this movie. This particular package comes with the stylized artwork you see in the description picture, which when removed reveals the DVD photo for the release.
The ONLY extra on this disc is the theatrical trailer. Which just happens to show I believe 4 dialogue lines not in the movie itself. Would have been nice if they had been restored and added to the feature. I prefer no commentary track then the Kevin Smith one on a previous release and that's what I got here, none. Maybe I'm spoiled with all the extras that are typically being added to classic 80's movies.
Bottom Line: You know the movie is great and looks good on HD. I bought it just on that. If you have to have "extras" then stick with the copies you already have or watch it on TV as it is plays at least twice a year on various cable channels.

All you have to do is set it back 100 years and give everyone six-shooters instead of karate and that's what you've got. Swayze is the good sheriff, or gunslinger, come to town to rid the place of the bad boss! Still, with a predictable plot the movie is full of good characterizations, action and actors you really like to watch. And who in their right mind ever gets tired of Sam Elliot? No special features to speak of and that's a minus but not a big enough one to effect my recommendation. After all, it's about the movie!

I watched the blu ray 25th anniversary edition and the color and sound were excellent. This movie is about a man who makes his living as a
cooler a.k.a. bouncer at a bar. Patrick Swayze plays Dalton who is hired to come to Jasper and clean up the Double Deuce bar. Sam Elliott co-stars along with Ben Gazarra. This is strictly an entertaining action movie and is one of my favorites. Buy it and watch it and let Patrick Swayze entertain you.

The story is based on a top-notch bar bouncer (Patrick Swayze) who is compelled to call in his old mentor (Sam Elliot) for an especially tough project. Instead of just busting heads and throwing hoodlums out of the bar, these guys end up having to save the whole town!
This is a B-movie all the way. In my opinion, it COULD be the greatest B-movie of all time. In short, despite being stupid it is also immensely entertaining. The plot is contrived. There are aspects of it that are way, way beyond being remotely believable. It seems the whole movie was inspired by pushing the envelope on the concept of the bar brawl.
