I truly love this game. I play it as much as possible. I play drums and the guitar. The drums were a little hard the get a hang of at first but once you do, it amazing. The guitar play is as good as Guitar Hero. The only thing I didn't like was that the song list was shorter that I thought it would be, but that is ok it just gives me a excuse to wait for Rock Band II.

    Rock Out with Rock Band!

If you're looking for a game that proves that the PS2 is still alive and kicking, look no further than Rock Band! The game provides hours of playing entertainment for both you and your friends with a set list that contains 58 songs. The solo career mode is great for a single player who wants to hone their skills on a particular instrument, and the multiplayer mode is tons of fun at parties, with up to 4 players jamming at one time! You really will feel like you are part of a rock band! Most stores have a demo version of this game set up on one of the game systems, so I would highly recommend trying it out. I guarantee you will be hooked in no time! The only drawbacks to this game are that you cannot customize your character or the look of their instrument. However, this does save time spent on doing those tasks and allows you to hop right into playing the game. Also, the drum pedal that comes with the bundled game is somewhat prone to breaking, especially for those who apply a heavy foot when playing. The drumpads, guitars, and microphones are all highly durable when handled appropriately. Overall the quality of this product is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Great Game, Great Setlist

This was honestly the best game purchase I have ever made. The Guitar Hero series seemed a little less advanced , and not very kid safe in terms of content. Rock Band is like the exact opposite of it. You have the ability to choose guitar, drums, or singing, and all three take a little more game then Guitar Hero, where you just push buttons. I will admit that the guitar part of the game is creepily similar to Guitar Hero 2, but the drums and vocals take some skill to master. I am an avid drummer, and I still cant pass some songs even on Hard! I was a little disappointed with not being able to make a character or buy new songs in the store, but thats just because this is the PS2 version, and it has to be watered down so it is compatible with the processor. The bottom line is this game is the best music simulating game on the market. Harmonix and EA Games did a nice job.

    Rockin'!

After a long time of being reluctant to purchase this game, I finally broke down and bought it for a party that I was throwing. I can honestly say it was a great idea! This game can offer hours of non-stop fun to anyone who sits down in front of it; even to those who aren't skilled in the musical arts. There are a ton of good ol' classic songs to choose from and four different difficulty settings for each song. The only things that I disliked about this version was the inability to create your own band members, and not being able to download new music to your harddrive. I guess that comes with not keeping up with the new game systems! It seems they are working on the issue of being unable to download songs by releasing the new track packs though, so no biggy! One thing that I will note; Always buy the hardware for the game, (i.e., guitar, drums, "bass") seperately and add on the warranty packages to them! You'll be sorry if you don't!

I had high hopes for the game even played it for a while before righting this review. there were a few good songs but nothing huge in way of great songs to rock out to. plus the difficulty of this game is way lacking compaired to that of guitar hero. the only saving grace was because you can play drums but now that guitar hero has their own (BETTER!) drum kit coming out there's one plus taken away. Plus the game came with an warning about if said game doesn't work to call a number so to get a new game or something. well mine worked fine past the time they told us to hold onto the number. so of course now after said deadline the game doesn't work. it wont even go to the start up screen. even if it did after playing the game for a while either it would just white out and you couldn't play even if you wanted to. OR the game wont sinc up to the music and it skips a head (no the disk isn't scratched checked that already). really annoyed and i don't even want to bother buying a new one. not even sure i'll buy rock band 2, the deal breaker for that will be what songs they have.

The true feeling of a rock band

In Rock Band you recieve the real feeling of actually being in your own band. I went with my friends and we traded off between Guitar Hero and Rock Band and by the end of a few turns we all had our attention toward playing Rock Band. It doesn't just focus on the lead guitarist, it allows you to take control of the drummer, the bassist, the guitarist, the lead guitarist, and the singer. But i will have to say that the guitar is alot harder to find the notes than it is on Guitar Hero. But other than that its great!!!

GREAT GAME! ...if you have a newer PS2.

Bought the game, brought it home, hooked everything up... put the game disc in the PS2 and.... NOTHING! The console will not read the game disc. I've been on gamer forums to see if I'm the only one with this problem, and unfortunately I am not. A few people traded in the game disc several times thinking there may just be a flaw with the disc itself and still nothing worked. I contacted Harmonix, creator of Rock Band, and they told me to contact Sony. At that point, I did just that, and they said that my PS2 edition was too old to handle the new aspects of the Rock Band game. The Rock Band CD is a dual level CD which means there are basically 2 CDs on top of each other but put into one. The old PS2's lasers aren't strong enough to read both levels of the dual level CD of the game. The Sony associate said they could replace my Playstation for a fee of $50 for a newer version where the laser would read the dual level CD. But, you can imagine, I'm not too excited about this idea because nowhere on the Rock Band advertisement does it say you need the newer version of PS2 to actually -gasp- get to play the game. In my opinion, EA needs to recall this game and make a few changes or at least put a huge disclaimer on the box saying: "SORRY! IF YOU HAVE AN OLD PS2, THE GAME WILL NOT WORK! SUCKS FOR YOU!" So, basically, if you plan on buying Rock Band for PS2, plan on spending another $100 or so on a new console.

Well before I ever played this game I was pretty skeptical about liking it. I am a musician and I thought why play this game when I can do the real thing. Well needsless to say I was hooked by the second song that I played. I really didn't have some crazy advantage like I thought I would either it is certainly its own animal. I think in some instances knowing how to play the guitar in real life tripped me up a bit when I played the fake one for the game. This is a game that I think can be enjoyed by anyone, which given the number of copies it has sold is probably pretty obvious to a vast portion of the world but... I thought my 2 cents couldn't hurt.

bought this for my 15 yr. old son for Christmas, little did we know that the whole family would love it. Started playing it at 8am Christmas morning and after a few breaks turned it off at 11pm that night! It has something for everyone, our friends got one for their son also and now the competition is on! Our families are having a Rock Band " Battle of the Bands!" We love it. Make sure you calibrate it to your tv or the instruments will be off and you need a controller for the mic. The best part is you dont have to have a great voice to sing the notes. Have fun and ROCK ON!

If you want the full experience, play it on an Xbox 360 or PS3. The Tour modes in this version of the game are only good for unlocking songs, seeing as you can't create characters or actually go anywhere. But don't let that dissuade you. This game is still amazing. The graphics are great, and you really feel like you are in a band. It is definitely worth the investment.

This is a very fun game and a good alternative to the ps3 version. Unlike the ps3 version you can use the guitar hero controller to play with four people. In the ps2 version you cannot customize your characters and you don't play tours (sets of songs together). The style of advancing is very similar to guitar hero 3. We have been playing non-stop since we bought it!

If you really want this game, I suggest buying it for the Xbox 360 or the PS3. All you can do in this PS2 version is play the songs. They took off Create-A-Character and "World Tour" mode. And if you're only option is to get it on PS2, I wouldn't recommend getting it at all unless you're a fan of Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution, SingStar, ect.
