Perfect for when you are traveling and want to make sure the few devices you might plug up are protected from power surges and spikes. Never know the quality of some of these places you might stay at and a lot of times the only available outlet is the one on the lamp. Now, you can turn that outlet into two and be protected with up to $50,000 worth of protection coverage from Rocketfish. Not only are you protected from power surges and spikes, but this also helps reduce any EMI or RFI on the lines that could interfere with your equipment as well. It’s small enough to throw in a laptop bag and the angles on the side make it easy enough to even plug in large power bricks. It has an LED on the front that is lit while you are protected for that little bit of added comfort. This is essentially the same as their larger surge protectors, with the same level of protection, just pocket sized. It doesn’t have an on/off switch like the bigger ones, but how often do you really use that? Overall, for its size, this is something that I will always take with m when I travel, just for that added comfort and security. You never know what someone else might be doing in the next room over that could drop out your pricey laptop and cell phone.

    Compact protection with guarantee

This is my first surge protection device from Rocketfish. I like how small and compact this unit is since there is no cord and it adds an additional outlet, so I can protect two devices at once. The 3-prong grounded outlets are on the sides of the surge protector and angled slightly inward for easier access to insert and remove plugs if installed behind furniture. Note that the plug orientation is rotated 90 degrees relative to the outlet the device is plugged into, with the protected outlets’ ground pins positioned towards the front face of the device. This change in orientation may not be suitable for bulky power bricks or angled cables, if you have tight clearance; although, I had no issues with the devices I plugged into it. The bright blue ‘protected’ LED indicator light at the front, when illuminated, lets me know that the device is working properly and will protect my electronics in the event of a power surge. The device is rated to 1500 Joules energy dissipation with a total load of 15 Amps and 40dB noise filtering to remove high-frequency signals like Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio-Frequency Interference (RFI) from your power line. I now have my home theater projector and sound system plugged into it to guard them against damage during a power surge. Although there is no way to actually test its performance without causing a surge which would destroy the components inside that make the unit function, I have peace of mind knowing that there is a $50,00 equipment protection guarantee with this product. Once the protective components inside are consumed during one large or cumulative small surges, the protected LED will go out, and you'll know that the unit should be replaced as it would no longer be supplying protection to your devices.

I was mostly interested in this guy because sometimes I have a hard time putting two things right next to each other. As a lot of devices these days are taking up multiple slots. With this being split it solves that issue. With the added bonus of protecting to those devices. There is an LED on the front that notifies you when it is working. The device itself feels well made, and is sturdy. Without any creaking. Plugging in and out it’s satisfying and tight. But not too tight. I like that. It actually has a ground. Which is critical too the protection features. Overall, for the cost, I definitely think it is worth the money. Some other notable features are listed below: It also reduces EMI/RFI, which is a nice bonus feature. For those interested its max peak current is 82,000 A and the energy dissipation is 1500 J. It filter is 40 DB of noise and the load rating is 15 A. They also have a $50,000 limited connected equipment guarantee. Which I found to be surprising for something this compact and small.

The Rocketfish 2-Outlet Wall Tap with surge protection is a good option for connecting a pair of electronic devices where space is at a premium and with the addition of protection from power surge. Unlike traditional power strips, it plugs directly into an electrical socket and, if you don’t have much space, its size is perfect measuring a little over 4 inches and 1.5 inches deep when inserted into a wall socket. In terms of specifications, this compact wall tap has a load rating of 15 amps and 1,500 joules of energy dissipation which are the standard ratings for surge protectors. However, its 82,000 max peak current far exceeds the standard. Using the Rocketfish 2-outlet wall tap is simple. I connected mine in my daughter’s bedroom behind a dresser and plugged in a TV and a soundbar. I really like the fact that it stays flush against the wall which saves so much space. On its small front surface, right on top of the Rocketfish logo, a ‘Protected’ blue indicator lights up to remind you that your devices are protected from electrical surges. It seemed to be performing well. The connected TV and soundbar are used for hours at a time daily and, out of curiosity, I checked for heat and there was practically none beyond normal heating. The two outlets on each side are slanted outward, most likely to accommodate bulkier adapters which is a clever idea. In conclusion, the Rocketfish 2-Outlet Wall Tap is a simple and effective solution for tight spaces or if you only need a couple of connections. It offers all the protection of a standard power surge and more. Rocketfish even provides some kind of guarantee, up to $50,000, for properly connected devices that are damaged by a power surge. I don’t have to think twice that my connected devices are safe and it’s a worry off my mind. Two thumbs up.

Mini Surge Protector, Huge Protection Coverage

The Rocketfish surge protector is one of those “set it and forget it” devices until the moment you need it. Despite its compact size, about 4 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick, it delivers 1500 joules of protection. In my opinion one of its best selling points is the $50,000 connected equipment warranty, which adds a lot of value considering the price. The unit itself is very small and provides two outlets. Thanks to its slim profile, it won’t block the second socket in a standard wall outlet, and I was still able to use my outlet USB ports without issue. When active, the word Protector lights up in blue. The light is subtle, but it could be distracting in a dark room, so it’s best placed behind furniture rather than in open view. Since I own more power surge protectors, I decided to move this one to connect my smart fridge, so the glow isn’t a problem. Overall, this little surge protector is a solid, inexpensive investment to safeguard high-value electronics, especially with the $50,000 coverage backing it. Its compact design makes it easy to plug into almost any outlet, and if used on a double outlet, it even adds an extra socket for a total of three connections, two protected and one regular. In the box, you get the surge protector outlet itself.

The Rocketfish 2 Outlet Wall Tap 1500 Joules Surge Protector seems to be an updated and improved model over the version from last year (RF-HTS1215). It appears to have some minor revisions from the previous version but is conceptually the same. This model plugs into a three-prong wall outlet and provides two three prong surge protected outlets. This version is slightly angled out on each output side for additional clearance from the wall an improvement over the previous model. I did not know Rocketfish was now Best Buy’s house brand to go along with the Insignia brand, so that is news to me. This surge protector is black in color with a blue led that states (protected). As for the protection it is rated to dissipate 1,500 Joules and of course that rating degrades over time as the device gets “hit” with surges. This surge protector is good for small electronic devices such as printers and other office equipment; it is adequate for PCs and gaming consoles. There were no instructions with the surge protector, but it is really pretty self-explanatory. Not sure if the device LED displaying “protected” turns red or the protection LED just goes out when its useful life has passed after absorbing surges. The difference between this model and the previous similar version seems to be the form factor and that it is manufactured in Vietnam vs. China. The device also filters line noise which can become a problem for sensitive devices such as computers, gaming consoles and other devices. >> Pros >> redesigned and more ergonomically functional >> made in Vietnam instead of China.

Do you have an expensive electronic equipment that needs surge protection? Do you want a $ guarantee for that equipment if it does get fried during a power surge? Then look no further. This rocket fish product will help you get that added layer of security. Installation is super simple. Take it out of the box plug in the wall and plug in your electronics and you are all set. Appearance is nice. Sleek black and has light indicator saying you have a protected outlet. I am running a marantz amp so I don't want anything to happen to this puppy as it took me time to build this system. So this surge protector is a great compliment to my amp. With the recent brown and power outages that have been happening in my neighborhood this adds an additional layer to make sure my amp does not fried. So I have a double gange outlet behind my amp. The only downside to this surge protector is that it takes up 2 outlets due to outlets coming out from the sides. Although the surge protector does have 2 outlets you might run into issues with using other AC adapters that are boxy as they all might not fit because of the size of this protection. Also the light on protection might be a bother if you have this in your bedroom as it stays on and there is no option to turn off. A way around that is to cover it up with black electrical tape. Other than that no other complaints.

Great Surge Protector At A Great Value

This is my review of the Rocketfish 2-Outlet Wall Tap 1500 Joules Surge Protector upon which I rate at 5 out of 5 stars. Out of the box, there is just the surge protector. You will need to go to the Best Buy site and search for the product. From there, go to the Features section and you will find the Quick Start Guide and Manual. This device has some great specs/features for its price to include, 1500-joule rating, 400-volt clamping voltage, 47dB EMI/RFI noise filter, 2-opposing end outlets, doesn't block the other duplex outlet, low-profile design, and a $50,000 Limited Connected Equipment Guarantee. There are some important items to mention. The device needs to have a least 30-feet of electrical wiring between the outlet and the fuse/breaker panel to allow for proper discharge of electric surges. The device needs to be connected to a 3-pronged outlet with a true ground at the outlet itself and not just at the outlet box. The device has a blue "Protected" indicator light to show its proper operational status. If the device should ever fail after a large surge or ends in its useful-life, the blue light will no longer illuminate, but will still operate your connected devices. It is very important to check your surge protectors on a regular basis to ensure the proper protection of your connected devices. I hope you enjoyed reading my review and aided in your purchasing decision.

Secure Fit, No interference with other outlets

For a surge protector, the Rocketfish 2-Outlet Wall Tap 1500 Joules does what it’s supposed to do. It fits securely into the outlet with no looseness or droop when devices are plugged in. And the slim flat design lets it sit easily behind the wall unit I wanted it to go behind without interfering with the use of the wall’s other outlet. I like that the design of the protector now let’s my wall unit be pushed back even closer to the wall without fear of pinching or bending the cords at the plugin. Not something to stop me from buying another one, but a design suggestion would be for one of the plug inlets to face downward or upward instead of sideways to better accommodate cords with the more angular plugs. Or maybe, design it where the plugin can be rotated to the orientation that is the best fit for what you want to plug in. And something to note in case you plan to use it in a visible area is that the blue light indicator is pretty bright. Overall, though, it is a good product.

The Rocketfish two outlet surge protector gives you surge protection when space constraints are a concern. I’m in the process of converting my third floor into a theater room and we are hanging our tv and putting the outlet behind the tv. This slim surge protector will give me protection and makes it easier to conceal my cables. Its compact size will also allow two of them to be used on one outlet, giving you a total of four protected devices. The outlets are on the side instead of the front allowing you to use this behind most fixed mounts. The specs show 3 line protection for line, neutral and ground, 1500 joules, 82,000 max peak current and can reduce EMI/RFI interference. Rocketfish also claims $50,000 connected equipment protection, while this is something you hope you never have to use, it does give you piece of mind. The device has a small led that lights up to show your device’s are protected. If you’re looking for a slim surge protector for tight spaces, this Rocketfish surge protector will fit where others won’t.

Summary: This is an overall good device is you have important items which need surge protection. It does not add many outlets to your setup so don’t buy it for that reason. It is a very easy device to use, simply plug it in and you will see the “protected” indicator glow showing you have 1500 joules of surge protection. It only has two outlets on either side so It is good for an area with little cabling, or perhaps for travel if you need it for that purpose. The device feels durable and stays on the wall just fine with no droop after plugging it in. It is a good option for simple setups though I would have preferred at least one more outlet in front instead of an indicator, a simple LED would have been sufficient. I am not fully sure who to recommend this for anyone other than travelers as you might be better off getting a unit which is a bit larger with more outlets for the house, but it is good at what it does and will protect a high value item in the event of a surge just fine.
