This is such a HUGE improvement over the original Rocksmith. They learned from the stumbling points in the first one. Load times are very short now and the advanced techniques are now supported very well. The arcade games have been improved immensely and several have a nice story to go with them. You don't even realize how much you are learning as you play them. However, I do wish that they had left the option of choosing a venue if you wanted. I find myself missing that somewhat. Also, while I do enjoy the missions driving you to learn more, I do miss the game showing you how much you've grown with some sort of progression meter. I like to visually see how I progress. That said, however, I am 100% satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend to anyone. Whether you're new to the guitar like I was with the first Rocksmith, or a veteran like some of my friends, you will enjoy this game. I am learning faster than ever before and enjoying myself the whole time.

Everything you liked about Rocksmith, but better!

I absolutely LOVED the original Rocksmith. Rocksmith 2014 is everything you liked about Rocksmith, but better! Great song list (Iron Maiden!!!) and you can import all of your songs from the original Rocksmith for $10. The Guitarcade has been updated and is even better than ever. Not only have some of the original games been updated, but there are a TON of new games as well. Updates to the Riff repeater are great and the new session mode is AMAZING! Don't know how to play the guitar, or are rusty? Rocksmith 2014 will have you jamming in no time.

Overall this is a great game and will help any beginner with guitar, I wish they would have spent a little more time on the design an flow, the fret board where you spend most of your time can be busy and sluggish, not much of a change from the first edition. Overall any guitar player or want to be player should enjoy it. Cheers

Plug your own guitar or bass into the rocksmith cable, and learn to play guitar. Makes it enjoyable to practicr the finger movements and timing necessary to play your instrument. Riff Repeater lets you play at any speed and degree of difficulty. Also has min-games and lessons. You get many hours of playing time out of Rocksmith 2014.

Over all, this is a great improvement over the original RockSmith release. The visual cues are easier to follow and learning seems to go faster. I struggled with the first release and actually put it down in less than a month to never return to it. With this version, I've been rocking strong now for nearly 2 months and don't want to stop. It's grabbed my attention. The story line is still weak - it really is just a tool to learn to play unlike RockBand or Guitar Hero where you are out on tour and can play head-to-head with others. If they managed to incorporate that into RockSmith, you would have the best of both playing and learning. It would be cool if you could get 2 people going... may be a bass and guitar at the same time.

I have been playing guitar for many years. I find my self in ruts where I want to expand my playing with new songs and techniques. This is the perfect game for this. The new version is much more streamlined and responds much better than the previous edition (which was also great). I even let me 8 year only play it and he learned 2 new songs in a matter of an hour. This is a great tool for learning or furthering your guitar playing/bass playing. The only issues that I have is that I like the career mode of the first game which would help you explore new songs in a more focused manner. And the other issue is that there are several songs now that you need to change tunings for (more than just drop D). This is problematic for those with tremolo systems. So there are several songs that I have to use my hard tail guitar with. I highly recommend this game for anyone that plays guitar or wants to play guitar.

I was average at best at guitar, this game helps build skills. The riff repeater is a great tool to learn songs in small parts, can put the difficulty up to 100% but slow the speed way down. Like that format the best. Makes it more productive to learn all the notes at a slower speed than building up levels as you go at a fast speed. Not sure this is good for retaining how to play an entire song by memory but helps learning moving on the neck faster. Worth a shot. DLC is updated frequently which is cool. Also good to explore all the features versus just sitting down and trying to learn a song at full speed from start to finish. Be patient and practice, will pay off. Maybe combine with private lessons, online sites.

First one was good, but so glad I bought this one

I bought the first version of RockSmith and had s Tom of fun, but the menu system etc was annoying enough at times and the learning options like riff repeater were so far removed from when you were playing in the tour mode that it was cumbersome and kept me from being as motivated as I could have been. The new edition solves the vast majority of those problems and I'm having a blast. I'm taking the 60-day challenge and really looking forward to being a competent novice guitar player.

Like having a real instructor, but with no limit on how long the lesson runs. Wish this was available when I first stared learning 15 years ago.

My teenage son plays guitar and I bought this so I could play with him. I wish I had an hour a day to play but I do what I can. I like the interface and the lessons are great. I think this is a good alternative or supplement to live lessons. We will see how I do next time I get to play with my son.

Do not buy this game for Xbox 360

I purchased this game because I played the previous version and enjoyed it very much. This version did not work on my Xbox 360. I looked the problem up online and sure enough, this is a known issue (disc will not read). Since the package was opened , Best Buy would not refund my money. They would only exchange the game for the same game. I guess my only other option is to take it to Gamestop and trade it in for a loss.

Great game for the novice or advance guitarists! It adjusts to the way you play and leaves even the most advanced player being challenged.

Doesn't Work On My Model of Xbox 360

I had played the original version of this game and loved it. Unfortunately, after purchasing this game brand new, it would not read in my 250gb Elite Xbox360. Best Buy will not give my money back, even though I explained that this game sometimes does not work in my model of Xbox (found this out after some research on the internet). They would only exchange the game for the same game. The only thing left to do is sell it online.

Have been waiting for this game since the announcement at E3. Preordered and expected to have it on release day. Was diasppointed Best Buy had the more expensive version shipped to the store but I have to wait a day or more for the version I put the money down to preorder. The features added and the way the developer listened to community feedback and tuned the game to make it better in the sequel is a welcome change for Rocksmith 2014. This is a great game and the option to buy it without the $20 cable is a great buy. If only Best buy would have shipped my copy to the store that I preordered it from is the only negative.
