A Must Have For The Serious Toho Fan!

This is a great deal put out by Classic Media. You get two classic Toho monster movies, two of their best in my opinion, in the original Japanese version and English dub versions. Picture and sound quality is crisp, never a better print of these has been out before! I believe this is the first time WOTG has been released on DVD here in the US as well.
This pack also includes a brand new, just recently made documentary called Bringing Godzilla Down The Size, which is a must see for any Toho fan or anyone curious on how monster films are made. Many past Toho veterans are featured in this documentary, including together for the first time, all three men who have portrayed Godzilla on film over the last 50 years.
I am hoping Classic Media will keep releasing Toho films of this caliber because they are doing a stellar job putting this must have Toho films out in the US.

These two movies bring back great memories. Both stories have similar endings, but while "War" is more action and destruction, Rodan has some truly sad moments and you wind up caring more about the monsters than the humans.
The only criticism I have with this set is one of the versions of "War."
The Japanese transfer is poor. The U.S. version is bright and colorful. It is hard to enjoy the Japanese version. The scenes are so dark, you miss the action. It is such a big difference that I would hope that the company, Classic Media might fix this and offer to replace customers' DVDs. I waited years to see the J-version, because it references Frankenstein Conquers the World, and is a semi-sequel. The movie was so dark, I just watched the U.S. version.
My three star rating is because of the poor J-transfer. If we had actually gotten two good transfers, this rating would be 5-Star!

Great movie for those of us that use to watch Monster mash on saturday mornings. My son (5) loves to watch this with me and then play like we're monsters and terrorize his army men.
