As a long time Xbox console player this handheld is fantastic. You get to play Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation games plus mods on PC games. This device surprised me on gaming performance even though it's not the high end model. I was able to play some games on high and medium settings also the speaker has good surround sound especially with Dolby Atmos. Colors also look good on the screen it even supports VRR and HDR if you hook it up to a docking station and tv that supports those features. Now for some things I didn't like the device is not perfect the software is a bit buggy a simple restart fixes the issue. But sometimes updates make new issues with more updates the software will improve but for now software needs more work. Also there are a lot of problems trying to play with third party controllers the Xbox series controller works the best no issues. But other controllers don't work right only on the steam app but sometimes there are issues on steam. So i do recommend the ROG Xbox Ally yes but wait for it to go on sale and let the software issues get fixed first this device is also a good way to into the PC ecosystem.

I’m very satisfied with this product. After using it for a while, everything works smoothly and reliably for my daily needs. The design looks modern, clean, and feels more premium than I expected for the price. Performance is solid for everyday tasks like entertainment, light work, and even some gaming. It runs smoothly with minimal lag, and the temperature stays under control even during longer sessions. What I like most is the balance between price and performance — it offers great value. The overall experience (display, sound, and build quality) is also very good. There are a few minor things that could be improved, but nothing that really affects the overall experience. Overall, I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for something reliable in this price range. I would consider buying it again or recommending it to friends.

I absolutely love this product! Setup was quick and easy, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. The build quality feels solid and well-made, and the performance has been smooth and reliable. I’ve been using it regularly with no issues at all. It does exactly what I hoped it would and has honestly exceeded my expectations. It has good ergonomics for my hands. It's not uncomfortably heavy or bulky. I used it on a overseas flight and it performed well. No issues running games although I run mostly indie stuff like Slay the Spire and Vampire Surviors. The only thing I don't like is that I keep getting an error for the embedded controller but it works fine. Not sure why it tells me that. I do like how it supports multiple platforms. I have just Xbox and Steam installed. I recommend running Steam in Big Picture as it's easier to navigate. Windows 11 is solid on it as well as the touch controls are pretty responsive.

If you are reasonable about what games you play on the go, this thing is perfect. Light, but substantial with a great screen.

Great product for lighter gaming in my opinion. I’ve tried a few games that are more demanding and I would honestly just recommend a console at that point or save up for a pc. I got it so i wouldn’t have to be at my desk to game and it’s very handy that way. Definitely recommend but if remember you aren’t playing games at ultra settings. More like low to medium.

Loved how this rog ally worked without the power source plugged into the wall can run counter strike and gta v on medium to low at 120 fps great for portable gaming

High-performance processor, runs games with high FPS quite well, good grip, the buttons are spectacular, you can calibrate the sensitivity to your liking, the dynamism is great, I really like being able to change the screen and be able to play in both ways like PC and console, it's the best, I'll soon buy another one for my son so we can play together even when we're far away And you can record videos of the games you have without losing quality, it's incredible. I'll leave some test videos.

I love my ROG Xbox Ally I bought it to play fivem gta roleplay omg it works perfectly better then I expected. And not to mention you can play all the game you can think of handheld. One of the best gaming consoles yet

Pretty solid little handheld for what it is Gets everything I want done with good petformance

I know it's big brother the ally x has the better internals but for the money I don't think it's twice as good as the this base model. Especially if you can get on one of the sales this at 500 bucks is a killer deal. Performance is very dependant on settings. If you run 720p and modest settings you can get a very playable fps but if you're dead set on running full 1080p on aaa games you'll probably want the x. The xbox launcher is nice for windows games especially more hardware heavy games as you dont have to run windows in the background. Also love that it basically includes short cuts to the steam full screen and other launchers to really open up your game library.

I've had it for bout like half a month and it's amazing works good for games sometimes gotta use CPU boost but don't mind if plugged in it's truly great only problem is the storage but that's upgradeable

My steam deck broke on me one day. I needed a replacement but prices went up from my original purchase. The ROG xbox ally had similar if not better specs then my steam deck. Being able to play my steam games through it was as if my steam deck was never lost. Very pleased with my purchase. My only problem is when the joystick lights turning on automatically.

It’s a good device plays most of my games no problem can watch movies sports or anime on it battery last a good amount of time my only complaint would be that you need WiFi in order to use it if that wasn’t an issue it would be a 5 star product

People who compare this to a certain deck on the market should just go buy one or let it go. They're not the same. If you want to play a few games on the go or just a great quality pc experience then buy it. You won't be mad. Its great for emulation, has an sd card slot, AMAZING speakers, feels just like an xbox controller with a screen, variable refresh rate and more. The battery is the only thing that you could complain about as i get about 4-5 hours with lighter games and about 3-4 with triple a wo keep your charger with you, change settings and or a portable charger.

Let’s be clear here. The ASUS ROG XBOX ALLY is not a gaming handheld. It is a handheld gaming PC that runs windows 11 64bit PERFECTLY. graphics? Smooth like butter! I connected it to my work dock and it ran 3 monitors (not for gaming but for work) I’m very happy with the onboard steam/xbox/windows interface. Push a button, make a selection. Game. Work or steam (game). Did I mention the ssd built in might be its only flaw? It’s 512gb. No worries…there are instructions on the website on how to put a new ssd in. Just out with the first, and drop in the new one up to 4tb. Not kidding. Keep your power cord handy as it is greedy, but what would you expect from a full on gaming pc with a battery that fits in the case. This is a great gizmo and we absolutely love it. 10/10 highly recommend

Best purchase, I loved it so much I bought the Ally X. I take this one to work and I plan on using the X at home. It definitely requires some messing around in the Armory Create settings to make some AAA games run around 40fps but it won’t disappoint you, I promise. Battery is a cool 2-2:30 hours not plugged running on 15w. Plugged in with 20w it’s getting up to 50fps on these AAA games like Starfield and State of Decay 2 with optimizations done in the AC settings and game settings.

Excited to experience mobile gaming with an Xbox product with the new ROG Xbox Ally. For the first time, I can take my Xbox experience on the go without settling for watered-down performance or awkward touch screen controls. The ergonomic control feels familiar, the grip, button layout, and overall feel of the device closely mirror an Xbox controller, which makes transitioning into mobile play incredibly natural. One of the biggest additions is its ability to run Windows 11. As someone who’s never been deeply immersed in the PC gaming world, this opens up a whole new doorway. Now, I can explore PC libraries, emulators, mods, and even productivity apps. The flexibility is honestly exciting and something I didn’t expect to appreciate this much. Cloud gaming is also a nice feature, especially since it helps save space on the device. Being able to stream games instead of installing them makes the device feel even more versatile. That said, latency can creep in depending on the connection, so it's not perfect for every situation or every game. I will mention that not everything is completely intuitive. Some of the extra buttons like the Command Center button, View button, and Library button can take a bit of getting used to. They don’t feel as immediately functional or natural as the standard control layout, so there’s a small learning curve. Additionally, troubleshooting and adjusting things through BIOS can feel intimidating at first, but are useful once you learn your way around it. There are also many ways to customize views, buttons, and default settings that are great but challenging. Overall, the ROG Xbox Ally is a game-changer for someone like me who’s rooted in the Xbox ecosystem but eager to explore what mobile and PC gaming have to offer. It’s powerful, flexible, and fun, exactly what I hoped a handheld Xbox experience would feel like.
