ONE OF THE BEST MONSTER MOVIES

This is one of the best monster movies I've ever seen. I'd easily put it up against Jaws. Like the afforementioned film, the best suspense is that the beast is not shown very much. Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Feast Of Love, Man On Fire, etc.) is terrific. I think she is one of the most underused great actresses. I'd easily put her up against Julie Roberts. She turns in another sterling performance, this time as Kate Ryan, a tourist guide on a boat cruise along a river in Australia's outback. The character developement is very good, however, I didn't understand what her relationship with Kyle was supposed to be. That could have been better developed. The suspense was breath-taking. The special affects and acting were top-rate. No spoilers are posted in here, but the ending was terrific. I've seen all the alligator-eat-'em-up movies; Lake Placid (fun), Lake Placid 2 (sucked), Primeval (pretty good). I'd rate this film as excellent. I understand this movie only made about $7,500 over here in its theatrical run. I don't understand why it flopped so bad. This is truly one of the great eat-'em-up movies of all time. I give this ten stars, even though only five can be given. Rogue is a great movie, and I recommend it to absolutely everyone who truly enjoys monster movies.

A realistic creature feature

This is a great film for creature feature fans. A realistic plot with professional actors and excellent special effects. If you like creature horror flicks, you're sure to enjoy this one. I would recommend the DVD over the blu-ray, which is something I have never done before. The reason being that the DVD has special features while the blu-ray has none. Also, the blu-ray displays in an integrated format (1080i) rather than progressive (1080p) so the blu-ray is hardly a step up from the DVD. This is a Canadian release, but I highly doubt there will ever be a US release with special features and a progressive format, so I recommend this film on DVD.
This review is from Rogue [Blu-ray] [2008]

My wife and I loved this movie! It was very intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great acting, great special effects, great plot, all around a great movie. I highly recommend it! You may also want to check out Lake Placid and Primeval, which is based on a true story. Both were just as good as Rogue. (But skip Lake Placid 2, it was terrible.)

I have to say for a movie that wasn't shown in theaters and went straight to Dvd, it was pretty good. The only con was it took a time for the movie to pick up. Over all it was a good movie and if I had to rate it I would give it 3 1/2 maybe 4 out of 5 stars.
