Always a fan of Roland products, I needed a pair of monitors for my Fantom keyboard. I've used larger Roland keyboard amps in the past. I'm really impressed with the sound quality and output for the size of the unit. Very durable and built to take a beating.

I use it in my garage where my kids sing and enjoy the karaoke mood, the quality of the sound is very good and value for money for the channel split

If you have a keyboard or guitar and are looking for speaker/amps to run them and don't want to spend $1000 a piece on studio reference speakers then these are perfect. I love them the quality is awesome, they are easy to use, are very portable, and can sit on a standard microphone stand. These cubes also get loud while keeping clarity. They can easily be used to play music with your ipod or computer as well as another instrument or microphones. I have hooked up a guitar and they sound good with the guitar, definitely better with piano, but at this price nothing out there is better.

Useful amp for practice, but not performing

Pros: Three channels, including two stereo inputs and one with an XLR input for mic, a 1/8" aux input (for iPods/MP3 players), and stereo output. Also for an inexpensive amp this seems to be built well, with a sturdy metal grill, yet it's lighweight (12 lbs.). One other handy feature is you can screw it onto a mic stand for better sound projection. Cons: The sound quality is fine for practicing, but I would NEVER consider performing through this amp. The tone is really compromised, and if you need to get the volume up near the amp's max it will break up badly. Also, this amp is called Cube Monitor, and I was hoping to use it as a stage monitor for my keys (I'm in a band), using a line out to the PA system. I was disappointed to find that when you plug into Line Out (or "Stereo Link" on this amp), sound no longer comes out of the Cube - it's an either/or proposition. Bummer. Overall assessment: I think this is great for practicing on my two keyboards along with an iPod, and have even gotten away with using it in lower-volume band practices. Like any purchase, the key is knowing what capabilities you need and where your priorities lie. If your priority is performance-grade sound quality you'll probably want to keep looking. The reality is that within any given price range there are compromises, so you need to find that balance of sound quality, any added functionalities and price that makes you happy. For my priorities it's a good amp for the price (I just wish I could use it as a monitor!).

    Lots of options

I was pretty impressed in the store, but when I got this thing home, I was double-sold. I use it as a monitor of everythng coming out of my personal mixer - vocal (often thick with VoiceLive2) & synth (also thick with layered combis), in the environment of a large room (church worship center that seats over 300). It has performed flawlessly thus far (opted out of a "durability" rating since I've only had it a few months). Sound reproduction (even with all those layers) is crystal clear with no audible overload. An abundance of input jacks with three channel output volume pots (plus 2-way master eq and master gain) allows up to 3 stereo or mono inputs (balanced xlr mic on ch 1 )plus additional inputs for a stereo mini in and a R/L stereo phono input. Bottom line: up to 5 inputs with stereo playback AND 1/4" stereo headphone jack with independent volume. Whew. I'm going back to add another for stereo monitoring, which BTW can be stereo linked (saving me a second lengthy cable). Really great buy!
