ROOM AT THE TOP IS TOPS

This 1959 British drama depicts the adult nature of its subject matter directly and without compromise. The Oscar-winning performance by Simone Signoret is flawless, and Laurence Harvey's Oscar-nominated role was also most deserving. The honest and direct storytelling for its time would have not been handled had it been a U.S. film, since I honestly believe censorship would have made the factual honesty of its adult nature milk toast.

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Signoret’s long overdue, shining, Oscar winning performance is everything I had always thought it would be. This is one of the oldest Oscar winners I had never seen until Kino Lorber finally released it recently. Laurence Harvey’s performance is equally compelling. The story itself is very good, and slowly sucks you in. PQ and AQ are both excellent. I can’t recommend this disc enough. Not to be missed by any serious film fan.
