Software and hardware are easy to use and hook up. Decent instructions. Would be nice if editing was a little easier to use and more powerful. It does work well for transferring cassettes to cd's and cleaning up some of the noise.

I bought this to digitize my vinyl (I had a program in the past that just fed in through a USB port without an amplifier but - this ain't it). This requires an amplifier for anything to be digitized so you can hear it and I got rid of mine years ago.

I've had earlier versions of Roxio, which worked fine for me. What I wanted this time is a program that will enable me to convert my old LPs to digital format. I got that in this program, but I can't hear what's being recorded while it's being recorded. So I can't record just a single track from an LP and be sure that's what I'm getting. Fortunately, I can hear what I've recorded all right when I replay it. So I have to record the whole LP, and then play it back, edit it into tracks, and label them. On most LPs, I don't particularly want to immortalize the whole thing on digits, so the process takes a while -- longer than it should. I contacted Roxio's help site. They referred me to an online user site. The user Roxio counted on to help me had a posting up guiding people who have Windows 7. I have Windows 7. However, the labels I was supposed to see, and the selections I was supposed to make, didn't appear on my version of Windows 7. I assume that the posting dates from earlier versions of Windows 7. So for the bottom line: Roxio, flawed as it is, works better than Audacity, which didn't work at all. Roxio works better than the program whose name I've forgotten, but whose 30-day trial I tested until I saw that it required a couple of ancillary programs in order to work, and whose combined price after 30 days would have been a bundle. Roxio works better than the Apple program, Vinyl Studio, but that may just be because I'm less adept with Apple than with Microsoft. So -- I can use this program. But I wouldn't recommend it, and so I told the Roxio help site representative. I got no further reply.

I used this to convert a large number of old cassette tapes and LP's to MP3 files so I could load them onto iTunes. It's easy to use and gets the job done.

At last an electronic gadget that does exactly what it says it'll do. It's always bothered me to have all my old LP's and not be able to listen to them on my phone or mp3 player. This Roxio converter works just the way you want it to: play the album on your turntable, record the songs, turn them int mp3's, and voila! Well thought-out programming and truly "easy" to use. Highest praise.

We are very pleased to be able to convert music from audio cassettes to digital files. Since we mostly listen to music on our computers and iPod, this has been a welcomed solution.

The instructions are not easy to follow and what annoyed me most was the information about customer service that you only have for two weeks. It was ok but if there was another product that did the same I would look into it.

Info on box is misleading in that it leads one to believe that you can plug your turntable directly into the interface. Ceramic cartridge turn tables yes, but a quality turntable with a good magnetic cartridge will not work without a pre-amp between turn table and the interface. I plan to purchase the DAX system as it is nearly the same price and has two inputs, one with magnetic cartridge preamp and one straight audio input. Stay away unless you are digitizing audio tape of some type.

After the start of the load I entered the key given to me on the package. After entering the number a popup window said it was not accepted. Tried it several times and made sure the case was being followed and still the same result. The online help was no help at all. There were too many re-directs and I gave up.

I could record the music in stereo but it all played back in mono. I had purchased this program years ago and it worked fine. So I don't know what the problem is with the new software but it's junk!!

Made duping old cassettes to digital easy

I have a collection of old music cassettes, many of which are out of print, and/or were never released to digital format. I picked up the Roxio Easy LP to MP3 in order to start digitizing some of the old cassettes, before they finally end up unplayable. The Roxio software installed quickly and easily on my Windows 7 laptop. The USB converter drivers installed without a fuss, and everything I needed to connect the old cassette boombox (or most other audio devices) to the computer was included. The basic instructions will get you started, and the longer I used it this evening, the more I liked it. The software automatically inserts track breaks when it detects silence for a given interval, meaning you can start the tape and let it run straight through. With cassettes or LPs that have two sides, you can hit 'pause' and switch to the other side. One of the tapes had a few tracks with quiet spots, that caused the software to insert track breaks in the middle of songs. The editing software made it very easy to remove these breaks, and to adjust where the breaks needed to be to accommodate the actual start/stop of each song. There is also a utility included to insert album, artist, and track title information, and the ripped audio can then be recorded to CD, DVD, or saved as any one of several formats on your hard drive. I expect to get quite a bit of use out of this software/utility, and compared to the cost of replacing all the old cassettes (assuming I could buy the albums on CD now), it will soon pay for itself. This one's a winner, in my opinion.

I needed a product to convert cassette audio tapes of speeches from conferences to my iPod so I can listen to them on my walks. This product does exactly what I need with easy-to-understand instructions. I especially like that I got all of the necessary cables and connectors with the software, so I didn't need to hunt around for the right items. I also appreciate that once a setting is determined, the system defaults to that setting for the next use, i.e., "Capture From" and "Input."
