Customers regard the Pro Deep Canister Vacuum's cleaning performance and ease of use as significant strengths, frequently praising its powerful suction and convenient operation. The large water tanks and ease of storage are also highlighted as positive aspects. However, some customers find the vacuum's weight and relatively short power cord to be drawbacks.

Rug Doctor is available for rent at many hardware and grocery stores. The one I have looks different. Not boxy, It’s like an upright vac on steroids I read the instruction booklet thoroughly before using. My only complaint is it’s so heavy getting it upstairs in a two story home. Also I had to bring it up the stairs to get it inside my condo. It must have a done a good job as the dirty water container was not clear when I emptied it. Opened a lot of windows and used it the first time on a sunny but somewhat cool day. Carpets in the house dried overnight and looked reasonably clean the next day. Second time I used it on the carpets in my one bedroom condo. I have way too much carpet in there. Only have vinyl flooring in kitchen and where shower/toilet is. Spilled hot oatmeal where my Chromebox work station is. Cleaned up pretty good at first. But after a full day of drying, stain appeared but wasn’t as visible as before. Office chair left some black marks that didn’t clean up well. Dining room floor carpets did clean up tho. I used Rug Doctor pre-treat stain remover too. Bought it at my local Safeway Food & Drug. Overall results were acceptable from this well know brand. But you can only do so much with carpets. Even the pros can’t do more for you. Just so you know I don’t have any pets.

Very good basic cleaner, but PRO should be all-in.

I have owned other RugDoctor cleaners prior to evaluating this one, so my expectations when getting the PRO device were a bit elevated. I have the Rug Doctor Deep Cleaner and expected this Pro model to be an upgrade to that. They have fixed many of the flaws in the older cleaner with this one: - The push handle is no longer flimsy on this model, and the device itself glides more smoothly on carpet during cleaning.... The other would fight you when moving certain ways and this new handle is much more confidence inspiring. - The Pro has extremely large clean and dirty water tanks, meaning you can now clean most small or medium rooms without water changes during the process. I’d say this is about twice the capacity of the deep cleaner. Those advantages aside, there were a few things I noticed that made me scratch my head a little... - The Pro doesn’t have rotary brushes, just a passive stationary scrubber behind the main suction nozzle. Doesn’t seem that it would agitate the same way that active rotary brushes would. I didn’t notice a huge difference on my carpets, but high pile carpet in need of more scrubbing to restore texture or loosen dirt might not get the same level of clean from this new unit. - I was blown away that this newer, more expensive cleaner doesn’t include the furniture/stairs handheld attachment. I learned that the system can use the one from my Deep Clean model, but it still has no way to store it on itself, and for most users, will be an extra purchase. At the end of the day, I liked navigating the carpets I cleaned with the new device substantially better. For those without furniture/stair cleaning requirements, this will be a really good alternative to other upright cleaners... For those looking for a whole-home upright to clean some floors, this will do the job with ease.

    Works Better Than Expected

I was actually very surprised how well this item works. I used it on my living room and it got rid of most of the carpet stains. I have a toddler and an infant in the house so spills happen periodically. I had been thinking of having a professional come out to clean the living room carpet. Instead I tried this and it worked great. It is easy to put together, as well. The main problem I had is that there is a part where the dirty water goes and then you have to dump that. It was EXTREMELY hard to get open the first time. In fact, I thought I was doing it wrong because it was that hard to get open. But I looked at the manual and I was doing it right. Eventually I did get it open, though. I found that I went through a large part of the cleaning solution very fast. I did my living room and part of the hallway and it went through all of the cleaning solution I put in it. The other issue is that it is REALLY difficult to push for a long time. I don't have a lot of upper body strength and it is definitely much harder to push than even a heavy vacuum cleaner. However, overall it is still worth the purchase since it works really well.

I have used other cleaning machines and nothing cleans like the Rug Dr. This is a top of the line cleaner giving professional results. What I love is the clean and dirty water tanks are two separate tanks. They will both release on a caddy making transport easy. The tanks are large and hold more than the average cleaner. The clean water cap has a soap measure cup built in. The handle bars fold for storage taking minimum space. The only negative is furniture cleaning hose and tool are sold separately. It does give you options for other accessories like a grout cleaning. RugDoctor thought of everything with this one.

Professional cleaning in a home package

The Rug Doctor - Pro gives you professional level cleaning in your own home. With easy to fill and empty canisters, replacable brush, and heavy weight the Rug Doctor - Pro is easy to use and works amazingly. The only complaint that I have is about there is no assisted rolling on this unit and with the weight of this unit it would be a nice addition. After cleaning a room it is a bit of a workout with how heavy this unit is. That said the weight of the unit does help it clean much deeper than carpet cleaners that are much lighter.

When I hear Rug Doctor, the first thing I think of are the rental carpet cleaners sitting at the front of the grocery store. Bulky, large and expensive, but with great power. This carpet cleaner is just that, only scaled down slightly. The very first thing I noticed when opening the package was the lack of attachments. With a retail price around $450, I don't want to pay another $100+ so that I can clean my stairs. If you decide to go with this carpet cleaner you will need to either buy attachments or a smaller vacuum for tight areas and stairs. The vacuum itself is bulky. It is very heavy when compared to other home carpet cleaners, which could cause some owners difficulty going up and down stairs. I do like how the handle folds down making for easy storage. Setting the machine up couldn't be more simple. Fill the water up to the max fill line on the clean tank, add the correct amount of cleaning solution with the built-in measuring cup nestled into the lid of the tank and you're ready to go. The trigger for solution is built into the handle, which is convenient but it feels flimsy and loose. Because of the style and shape of the carpet cleaner, I felt like I was using a floor polisher rather than a carpet cleaner. The machine feels cumbersome. And with the rigid handle moving out away from the machine, it makes tight spaces difficult to work in. I felt like I had to force the machine forward as I cleaned. The only way I can describe it is the difference between a regular lawn mower vs. a self-propelled lawn mower. However, with all that being said, the cleaning power cannot be overlooked. It was apparent that the sucking power and the scrubbing pattern made for a deep clean. It wasn’t any louder than other machines I’ve owned, however when cleaning area rugs, as I approached the end of the rug you can hear the amount of power from the vacuum. On one full clean bucket I was able to clean two 9’x10’ area rugs. The carpet was left damp, but nowhere near soaked like some other models may cause. Be very careful dumping out the dirty tank. The draining cap is situated in the rear of the tank. After dumping the tank out and thinking it was empty, I quickly lifted the tank up, not realizing there was more water left in an area that doesn’t drain when you’re emptying the tank. Better placement for the drainage opening would correct this problem. Rug Doctor is known for its professional power and deep cleaning, which this machine does superbly. But the remaining engineering is bi-polar. A fold down handle (Positive!), a built in measuring cup (Positive!), but bulky and hard to manage (Negative!), and getting dirty water everywhere when the tank doesn’t completely empty (Negative!). Again, not having the versatility to do stairs and small areas without paying for more attachments leads me to look past this model and go to one that has those capabilities.

I am very happy with this item. They have thought of everything. I have used other brands and they don't come close. This is the one to buy. Yes, its a little more expensive but the others don't last, and they don't do as good as a job. For storage, the handle flips down, a really nice feature. The clean water and dirty water are completely separate and the tanks are large where you are not changing them every 5 minutes. Both tanks can be removed individually or together with a caddy system they have. The only thing not included are tools to clean furniture but they can be purchased. I rarely give five stars but this is a solid five stars. Highly recommend.

I've rented many rug doctors over the years from hardware stores. I expected this one to be similar to those, and it was. The capacity is not as large as the professional ones and it is made entirely of plastic so I'm concerned about longevity. Also, I wish it came with the upholstery attachments but those are sold separately. Otherwise, the functionality of the unit is on par with the processional grade ones and I would recommend this if it fits your budget and if you have pets.

Had the great blue machine version first

This is beyond a step backwards in design from my great blue version rug doctor. It's hard to push even in in semi thick carpet, super real pain to clean compared to my older version, dumping the contents is beyond a bad design(in the middle side) not sure what they were thinking with this machine. EVERYTHING about it is poorly designed, and inconvenient to use compared to my older rug doctor. It seems cheap compared to the older version which I absolutely love. This is like comparing an escort to a old Cadillac. I sure hope they bring it up to par or I'm gonna have to shop for another company for our property management.
