Most all the other (more well known) sports rivalries pale in comparison to the Hunt vs Lauda Formula 1 fight in the 1970's. Especially when you consider they competed in a time that has been called "The Killing Years". Know any other sports where there was a good chance the athletes will not live to see retirement? Howard does a great job of personalizing the combatants. You actually grow to fear for and root for them at the same time. And to be able picture the ACTUAL cars that raced at that time is icing on the cake. Don't miss it!

My dad kept telling me this was a great story when trailers for the movie came out. I went in knowing little to nothing about these two great racers other than they were a couple of the "greats." The actors did a wonderful job with these two characters, showing us a glimpse of their incredible relationship over the years as competitive racing professionals. I love Chris Hemsworth but Daniel Brühl's portrail of Niki Lauda is phenomenal and really had me wanting to research and dig into the real life story a little more after seeing the movie. Its a great movie even for those that are not into racing in my opinion. Recommended!

"Rush" is a fantastic movie for any car racing enthusiast, especially if you are a fan of Formula 1. Ron Howard's "Rush" captures the excitement and tragedy of Formula 1 in its golden years. It focuses on the tense rivalry between Ferrari's Nikki Lauda and McLaren's James Hunt with a surprising bond between the 2 drivers during the 1976 season. A great supporting cast that bears resemblance to the actual people being portrayed and fantastic cinematography make this film worth watching...better yet, buying. Age appropriate film.

This movie should have gotten a ton of Oscar nominations when it came out. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, etc. But it came and went at the box office pretty quickly, and it is one of the best dramas I have seen in the past five years. It was certainly better than most of the movies that were nominated that year, and far better than the lame pic that won ("12 Years a Slave"). Definitely worth your time and worth adding to your collection. Highly recommended!

A great movie about the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Lauda was the straight arrow and Hunt was the playboy. They both lived to race. If Lauda had not been in the incident at the Nurburgring, it's doubtful that Hunt would have ever been World Champion, but that is my opinion. I have to give props to Ron Howard for making this film. The racing segments were very obviously CGI and in some shots it shows. If you love Formula 1 racing this movie is for you.

While I was expecting a movie with a lot of racing, this turned out to be more about the friendship of the two main drivers than anything else. Not to say that you don't get to see awesome cinematography when the races are shown. The movie itself is actually quite good, and worth checking out. In the end I found myself wondering who I was actually rooting for, despite that all though out the movie I had already picked a driver. GREAT MOVIE, check it out, all the way to the end.

I've watched and followed many kinds of racing since I was a kid, and I'm a big F1 fan now. I remember this era and the drivers but was not familiar with the real-life rivalry between the two main characters... This movie takes me back to what it was like to watch and worship the cars and the drivers as larger-than-life figures, but this tells the back-stories of two very different men who gambled everything (life, relationships, money) for their love of the sport and their drive to compete! Watch this to get a peek at the glory days of F1. Its great for long-time racing fans and newcomers alike!

This is certainly an enjoyable movie, and for the price Best Buy was offering it at I knew I should get it. You don't have to be a racing fan to appreciate the story here, but it certainly helps. Ron Howard did a good job setting up the storyline and the tension. You certainly begin to feel for the characters as the story progresses. While maybe not for everyone, as a racing fan I really enjoyed it.

The movie pits two competitive drivers starting from the lower ranks and making a name for themselves while becoming rivals in the process. There were moments in the movie where I just didn't know who I am root for, and that was a good thing. You start to see the motivations change, and the growth of the main character. If you enjoy a good story, sports and competition, then I think this is well worth a watch.

Ron Howard has put together an epic story around these drivers and Formula 1 of the period. It gives a real sense of the sport and is in dire need here in America as Nascar is the predominant racing class that Americans understand. This at least gives perspective on what the rest of the world enjoys as the "Premier" class of auto racing (yes, there are turns in more than one direction in racing). Enjoy a great show!

Outside of it being a great story based on real events & people it is an adrenaline rush of speed and danger. I never understood the appeal of Formula One racing. But that has changed after this movie. Absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes cars, speed, risk takers, movies based on history, fans of the 70's. Or if you just like well acted, filmed, and edited movies.

Rush is the kind of movie that reminds me why I love movies. It tells the tale of 2 rival Formula-1 racers played by Chris Hemsworth snd Daniel Bruhl. It's a very stylized and attractive movie to watch with a brilliant story about rivalry and friendship. You know a movie is great when it makes a sport that consists entirely of making left turns on asphalt look pulse pounding and exciting.

This is an especially involving true story about two gifted formula one race drivers. While the presentation appears to show the tragic events in one racing season, the viewer might mistake what happens to one of the racers who is badly burned as the tragedy, it is a much deeper revelation of how attitude and desire can lead to a champion racer and how it can also drive a very talented driver to lose his way. This is one of the finest movies ever made about the events shaping the careers of these two men.

Rush is a great film for racing fans, but the story of Lauda vs. Hunt is powerful enough to reach any person emotionally. The movie is full of drama, has great action racing scenes throughout (with great engine noises), and has very good performances by Bruhl and Hemsworth. The Blu Ray version has great audio and visual clarity to amplify the experience. This is definitely a must own for racing fans.

Seriously a fantastic movie that really shows the battle between Niki and James. You do not have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy this movie because it isn't about cars. The movie was excellently done and the story was told truthfully from Niki. Whoever did the casting show win an award because the actors displayed the lives of James and Niki flawlessly and even looked like them too.

Another hit from Ron Howard. A film based on the true story of two completely different competitive people trying to achieve the same goal. The 70's vibe is alive and we'll and serves as a great backdrop for this duel of personalities. The two drivers feed off each other and raise the bar in their driving and will to win. After seeing the extras on the disk you see how great the casting was when comparing the actors to the real people who lived through this incredibly story.

First, I would like to say that this is a great movie, it really captures the way things were and makes you feel like you're living in that period. Second, even though digital media streaming is gaining a lot of ground, I still prefer to have a hard copy (Blu-ray as a first choice) of my favorite movies, so whenever I can get a combo like this one, I jump right on it.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a racing fan in the slightest and this movie was still 5/5 stars. It runs laps around other car films like Ford vs. Ferrari and is one of the best films of the last decade. Rush out to get a copy of Rush! You won't regret it.

We saw this in the theaters and the wife feared it was just another race car movie. She went because of Chris Hemsworth (THOR!) is in it. However turns out we really enjoyed this on multiple levels. Aside from the racing action, beautiful men, women, and scenery; there is a great story about these two competitors whose rivalry turned into respect and friendship. A tragic but triumphant story. The Bluray captures all the sound and fury of the racing sequences.

I have been a fan from the time I attended the race in Nuembergring in 1976. Even before I witnessed the accident with Lauda I was hooked on F1! The movie is a great example of what Formula One was at the time. The risks and more improtantly the increadable competitiveness of all of the drivers that continues today. This is a not to miss movie if you love racing.
