very disappointed

When I purchased this attachment I was very disappointed. When you think kitchen aid you think well made and that it will last. This was plastic that doesn't look like it will last very long and didn't work well. The grater was metal but everything else was very cheep. I wasn't even able to make coleslaw with it. The plastic would bend some and didn't come close enough to the metal grater to shred properly. I finally gave up and got out my food processor to finish up. I no longer think kitchen aid is "the very best" .

You have to push the food down, and kind of mess with the speed to get it right. Softer cheeses should be put in the freezer for about 10-15 min before shredding in this

Excellent Shredding!

I am able to shred hard cheeses that I could not before with a "Name Brand" food processor. Cheese, carrots, potatoes, all with ease.

Worthless piece of equipment

I tried potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, carrots, etc. and it did an extremely poor job at slicing them. I did not try shredding the cheese so I cannot comment on its performance shredding cheese but DO NOT BUY this addon if you are interested in slicing vegetables.
