This drone is well made but very basic. It will get you into the hobby but has some limitations. The camera takes some good 5MP pictures but the video is only 720p and stutters at times. There is no onboard memory so your phone/tablet app is recording a stuttery video. There are some educational apps that you can download and allow you to program flights of the little Tello. No GPS but it keeps a steady position with DJI tech downward facing sensor. Great for indoor use, ok for outdoor use as long as the wind is not too strong.

A Cut Above Quadcopter in its Pricerange

I’ve had several small drones and quadcopters all under$100 and they all were underwhelming. This Tello is the bomb! The program that operates it is highly developed and seems free of bugs. On takeoff it hovers like it’s on a pole, even in a breeze. The motors seem strong, are reliable and after hours of flying they are still working well and sounding normal. The craft, overall. Is well made, is high quality in assembly and design. Operating the craft on your phone is great and the system they’ve designed is good, intuitive, easy to understand and taking pics and working and saving pics using their system is easy. The picture quality is pretty good when the light is ample but grainy at dusk or in heavy shade. Videos are not shaky at all, really a nice feature. One of my only improvements might be to eliminate the maximum altitude setting which can’t be changed by the user. Max altitude is 9.9 meters. So, as I learn to fly a drone the Tello is a fine flying machine that is forgiving, well made, has great features, is priced right, is rugged and is great fun. I recommend this item!

Smiling and flying within 15 minutes of having fully charged the battery. DJI tech gives the Tello ultra stable flight characteristics, the drone is programable and customisable, andyour newer smartphone can be the controller, but I found the Gamesir T1d controller($35+/-) more sensitive to small inputs. Best Buy and the Dji store have controllers for android and iphone. I found a cool case for it and also use a Xiaomi Mi wifi extender($10+/-) with a small USB powerbank($10+/-) to get 100m or so of unobstructed range to extend my control which is otherwise limited to the range of your phone's wifi. I liked mine enough to buy 2 more, 1 for my cousin, and another as a lender to friends so we can fly together :)

This is the most straight forward easy to fly stable drone I have ever seen. The video quality is great, the stability is amazing and the app is easy to use. For a hundred bucks its the way to fly. I like it a lot. Flight time is about 12-13 minutes. and the battery loads effortlessly .

This drone is well build to be more stable in wind, I love it to play with and kids like it more. Camera quality of video is very good. Issues with this drone is 1. After some days like 10 days of usage, one of the propeller stopped working. 2. WiFi will keep on drop after few meters. 3. Video recording will have breaks. Over all good drone for kids to play with.

Great software and nice 5 MP camera that shoots stills or 720p video . Tons of fun for a $99 dollar drone. Initial altitude is about 35 feet but once drone is on and connected to the app you can change altitude to 98 feet. No onboard memory. Images and video save to your phone or tablet.

I am very pleased with the Tello, for the cost, it has DJI electronics and camera plus a stable control system. It is clearly a beginner level since there is no camera ginbal for stability. It's weight is below the FAA registration requirement. Get an extra battery and the multi charger to make the fun last longer.

Great first time drone to learn how to fly drones and control them. Controlled by your mobile phone, Can take still photos or videos. I recommend purchasing additional propellers and an extra battery or two. Light weight and easy to fly. It is under the 0.5 pound limit required to register a drone with the FAA, so that is a plus. Only advice is to keep it away from trees since it can get hung up in the smaller branches very easily.

I use this drone as an entry into drone photography. I’ve enjoyed flying this device so much I’ve stepped up to other DJI products. I know use this as my vacation and selfie cam. Learn to fly this and you will be surprised how much cooler a different POV can be.

I actually gave this to my partner for Christmas, he said he likes it The only thing that he said was there was no instructions or remote and it was all through an app. Other than that he was pleased, and he's never flown one ever and it was easy for him

    Great Little Drone

For a sub $100 drone this is very stable, takes great pictures and has descent safety features. I bought for it's size (see pic next to iPhone 7) but wanted something that took decent pictures (see image of flower bed). The handling of the drone is great and the app is similar to the DJI Go app for the Mavic Pro, Spark ar Air. The charging time is one drawback. My son whose 7 can fly the drone easily. The controller app is also similar to the Parrot Mini Drone one. Pretty happy with it overall.

For the past couple of months, I've been sucked into the quadcopter drone hobby. I love this hobby since it combines my love of photography along with my love of RC. After getting sucked into this hobby and ordering a Mavic Pro, a few spare batteries, extra propellers, and other various accessories; along with the required FAA registration and following their rules; I've learned flying the Mavic can be a chore since I live fairly close to a helipad and alerting nearby ACC can be a chore when I just want to go out and play after work. Say hello to the Tello! It's well under the FAA required registration weight. It flys similar to my Mavic Pro. I'm amazed how resistant this little guy is to moderate wind. It's small, nimble, and quite robust for the size; I'm also surprised it handled a couple head-on crashes it subjected to in high-speed mode with no damage! Upon impact, the accelerometer would immediately cut off and disable the motors preventing further prop or additional damage. Also, this has to be one of the more if not the most stable micro quadcopter on the market. I've owned the Cheerson CX-10 micro quad, Ares hobby class quadcopter in the past, and given my nephew a UDI U28-1 FPV quad last Christmas; among all of those I've owned or used, the most comparable flyer I've used is the Mavic Pro. Yes, this little guy doesn’t have the GPS or forward facing Vision system; but for the most part, it feels almost as refined as my Mavic Pro. It's remarkably stable and the auto takeoff and landing features are a nice touch too. Now the negatives; I've attempted to pair this with various devices. the first device, my Oneplus 5 phone works flawlessly, however, on my fiance's Moto X Pure, the application will randomly crash or fail to detect the Tello even if the phone's connected to the wifi network. Next, on-screen controls can be a little annoying at times. I've often noticed I've hit a home button or swiped out of the app; my next purchase will be a compatible T1D controller to minimize this issue. Video quality could be better. Unfortunately, all media is streamed from the drone to your phone or tablet; resulting in stutters when there's significant interference. In daylight, photo quality is shockingly decent. Colors are saturated, vivid, contrast, and sharpness are good. However, low light performance is poor and what you'd expect from a typical laptop webcam. Finally, the most annoying gripe for me is the battery. To recharge, you need to provide your own micro-USB cable and physically connect to the quadcopter. Recharging typically takes about 90 minutes per battery via USB. 3 hours to recharge 2 batteries for a total of 26 minutes of flight time is a buzz kill for me. The authorized recharging hub charges the batteries sequentially; 30 minutes to recharge each; meaning one at a time so 90 minutes for three batteries. I'm tempted to buy a 3rd party charger that's able to recharge 4 batteries simultaneously with a 30 minute recharge time total. Overall, a great transition drone between the toy models and the premium DJI or Yuneec drone. For me, I've waited years before buying the more expensive products since I've had horrible luck with the toy and hobby class products; I feel this is a good transition product that provides me with the practice I want without risking my expensive drone. I'll save that one for the weekend! Also, you can learn programming using the SDK along with MIT's Scratch. I have yet to try that yet, but this is quite an educational product for STEM students.

I got this for an entry level model having never used a drone e before. It's easy to set up but very basic functionality. It can barely reach the top of my roof and is really sensitive to wind. Battery life is about 10-15 min which is ok but actually efficient considering the battery size and how much power is being generated. Can overheat in the summer. This is a good way to get into drones, but I imagine certain people will eventually want more. Then again, never over invest in a hobby you don't know you have yet.

    Excellent starter drone

This is a fantastic drone if you're just starting out. It flies incredibly stable, even outdoors so long as the wind isn't too strong. The first night I got it I made the mistake of trying to fly it at dusk. I crashed it into the back of a house around two stories high and it crashed to the ground and I thought for sure it was done. Wrong! There wasn't a scratch on it and it still worked perfectly. I've been going to an open field near me since to get used to flying it. The camera on it is serviceable, nothing that's gonna blow you away but that's to be expected at this price point. I'll upload some shots I've taken with it. Overall, it's an outstanding drone for 99$. Just keep your expectations realsitic at that price and you'll really enjoy it.

I love this thing. Great beginner drone. Had it for about two months and it is a really fun and not expensive way to learn to fly drones. Out of the box it is in slow mode, fast mode is exactly that, this thing really moves. Super fun and easy to fly. Pros: Easy app, Easy controls and very little learning curve. Connects to the app with little trouble. It can also take a little bit of a beating. Worst crash so far was into a chain link fence and it knocked a propeller off. Good thing is, they give you a few spares in the box. Charges fairly quick, about 45 min to an hour. Cons: No SD card, not to big of a deal with my phone as it saves directly to the phone (Android Galaxy S7) anyway, but its an extra step to get it on the computer. Also, this thing is extremely light, well built, but light. Almost completely not fly-able in any kind of wind (which is how I wound up in the chain link fence). Picture quality is fair, but cool. Video can be kind of good with some tweaks, but it is very choppy right out of the box. Overall, its not a Phantom, its not a squishy toy, but for $100 very hard to find anything remotely comparable. I have not used the external controllers or antennas because the app works just fine for me. If it had an SD card, I would give 5 stars.

Bought Drone for my 10 year old who was able to fly straight out of the box very easy to fly! I own a Mavic pro was surprised that this drone offers many of the same features as my drone that was more money. you cant go wrong for a $100 drone! couple of things that I noticed; it takes some time to get it to connect and wont do well in wind, Over all great beginner drone at a decent price just a few years ago you would have paid the same amount for a drone that didn't offer half the features !
