This review pertains to the Blu-Ray release. After years of waiting Sailor Moon finally gets a remastered Blu-Ray release in North America. Contained within the very pink box which will, eventually, hold all 45 episodes of Season 1 on a Blu-Ray/DVD combo are the first 26 episodes of season 1. Our story focuses on 14 year old Usagi Tsukino who after rescuing a cat named Luna with a crescent moon “bald spot” is gifted a transformation and is told her destiny. That destiny is fight the evil threatening the Earth and to find the Moon Princess and the other Sailor Guardians. Usagi is hardly thrilled as she is scared, emotional, and would much rather snack, sleep, and just enjoy being a normal girl. But enough series synopsis onto the review of the remastered video and completely new English dub. I admit not knowing the technical aspects of the video remastering but it cleans up well in HD on my PS3 and the colors are vibrant and details in the background are clear. Previous releases the color was very washed out and background details were not very visible. The new English dub from what I have heard so far seems spot on and since this translation is uncensored and truer to the original it is almost like watching a completely different series. Remastered Japanese audio is also included. Bear in mind this is NOT the original censored dub from the 90s so you will be disappointed if that is what you are looking for. Overall I would say if you were a fan of the original be it the Japanese or English I would say it is worth picking up for the loving treatment it has gotten.

Its been a long while, and after so long, Sailor Moon makes a return to Anime form, all in its Uncut and Original version, not only that, but a very good re-dub with the new voice cast (and yes, it also includes the original JP voice track too.) For what its worth, the LE set, which most should know (which you can find an unboxing over Viz Media's YT), includes both the BD/DVD's in 3 separate discs each (6 total), an LE booklet with a gallery and episode synopsis and other stuff (including some extras in/on the discs), and a space to put in Set 2 of the LE when that's released in Feb of 2015. Getting to other matters at hand, yes, I've heard lately that there's issues concerning this release within its Video problems, but I don't mind it and I enjoy it for what it is. (Though if you want to hear about the issues, head over to Anime News Network's ANNCast and listen to the article "Over the Moon") Anyways, if you're a SM fan and enjoy the series as much as it is, there's also the Manga (and its side stories too), and don't forget that SM Classic and SM Crystal is still currently streaming with new episodes added every now and then as well. And with that, I give it my 5 stars here! X3 (Yes, I know there would and will be opinions from some people regarding this, but at least I'm being honest!)

When I found out that Viz Media acquired the rights to Sailor Moon and were redubbing it, I was shocked. It was a dream come true, one of the most treasured anime of my childhood was back. I immediately had to get it and don't regret it. I got the DVD only version but didn't matter. I remember the first time Sailor Moon aired in the US in 1995 on Toonami I fell in love with it. Now 20 years later, I am reliving my childhood. Like some other reviewers have said, the new dub is great and fits the character. I was initially surprised that it was using the Japanese character names instead of the English names in the original DiC dub. The Japanese dub option is still there for those who prefer the Japanese dub.

I have been watching Sailor Moon since I was 4 years old and knowing that VIZ media got the rights to re-dub the series made me ecstatic knowing nothing was going to be cut out this time. The only issue I have with the set is how they remastered it some scenes are too smooth and others are grainy and seeing as this show started in '92 it's understandable but I think if they had or took more time with it it could have had an even better result. Other than that the voices are spot on and I'm glad I can finally replace my VHS tapes with this Bluray DVD combo pack on my shelf.

I have been a fan for years and was happy to add this to my collection. With this set you get 23 episodes with a nice book and a nice artbox that holds both sets of the first season. it does host a new dub which is different than the old DIC one so if youre a big fan of that old dub than this is not for you. The video is 4:3 aspect ratio and not the 16:9 remastered that the japanese version will be have in the coming months. All and all if youre a fan and want to see the series uncut then this is a must buy.

Beautiful packaging and nice extras along with a great new dub by Viz. Did not give 5 stars because the video quality is sub par. I don't know if Viz just got really bad masters or what but in making these HD almost all detail has been washed away and hard core interlacing is apparent on the master. For video quality the Madman DVD releases are the best as they use the superior Italian masters and they have the same Viz audio dub tracks (just not in as high of quality). As a collector I have both.

I grew up on Sailor Moon from the days of Cartoon Network and loved every bit of it. This new Blu-Ray/DVD set takes the greatness of the original, brings it back to its original Japanese roots, gives a new English dub and a fresh visual update and makes this childhood classic new again! This set contains the first half of the series up through episode 23, right before the Rainbow Crystal storyline.

This is a great version of Sailor Moon and getting both the Blu-Ray and DVD for a reasonable price is just great. Sadly it's only the first half of the first season, but it comes with the box set... box so when you get the second you can display and carry them together!

How could you not love Sailor Moon on Blue-Ray?! I bought this because Sailor Moon is my favorite anime and I am sure considered a classic anime. The only thing that would send me sailing over the moon is if it came with a digital code, so I can always watch it on the go. I also enjoyed that it came with a little book giving background on some of the Sailor Scouts and some neat art.

a must buy for any anime lover, sailor moon is a classic that will live through the ages.....the new blu ray releases are worth the money with all new extras and super deluxe packaging! your money will be well invested and even more if you buy them on sale....

This is a nicely-done blu-ray set. The package is very attractive. Video quality seems very good -- this is more than a simple up-conversion of standard definition. The voices have been re-cast. The material seems to be more faithful to the Japanese original than the previous dubbed version. The humor especially comes across well, I feel.

I bought this as it has been at least 15 years since the last time I watched any Sailor Moon. This collection for season 1 has almost everything complete minus the fact that its not widescreen? I guess they didnt want to tamper with it in any way aside from being on blu ray and being crisp. Overall I loved it and dont regret it.

I was so excited they released this on blu ray completely remastered! The new English dub was a bit more accurate to the Japanese version and this series was left uncensored and uncut from the U.S. version that aired on cartoon network.

A great way to celebrate this classic anime. Great quality, good transfer and loads of extras! Remember that this is the original Japanese version and not the Americanized Dic or other versions

Still an old classic anime, and not too bad of a DVD quality for an anime in the 90s. The audio seems clear, and the visuals seem nice.

It was great watching this show again one thing that is different was that this is a different voice actors voicing the characters

She always wanted to re-watch her favorite childhood cartoon, when I saw it at BB i didn't think twice to get. Made for a really good gift. And the episodes look cool. So she's happy!

Pros: -Contains original Japanese audio and brand new English dub. -All of the episodes are uncut. Cons: -It isn't actually full HD since the aspect ratio is 4:3. -Low content of Bonus Features.

The box-set is the best, it only volume one but it has room for volume two coming out on Feb. 10 I can't wait to complete my box set.
