Don't go to 'Salem's Lot. Avoid it. Watch this film instead. This is one of the BEST Steven King adaptions. I hate the Shining. It's Dull. THIS IS THE ONE YOU NEED. So, you passed on the Warner Archive Blu-ray? Well, Get this Cool Steelbook at a fine price. Impress your friends. This is a scary TV film about vampires that really works. The book was awesome too. Read the book. Watch this Blu-ray.

I read the book right before I found the Blu-ray by chance on Best Buy's website. Loved the book so much I had to buy the movie. Though some characters and scenes were left out, the movie pulled together really well and glad to report the "scary" scenes did the book justice. Wonderful vampire classic I recommend, and the steelbook was in perfect condition!

I vaguely recalled this TV adaptation. Now watching again on this remastered blu ray, it still gives me some serious jolts. The low-budget physical effects and detailed make-ups aged well. The blu ray shows off the nicely designed and produced interior of the Marsten House. The disc offers English subtitle and a commentary track by director Tobe Hooper. As a continuous movie, it is episodic with required fade ins and outs for commercial breaks. Characters were introduced, fleshed out then completely disappeared except for the main protagonist played by David Soul. He pushed the plot forward. Compared with today's horror films Salem's Lot is tame, scant of blood and gore. But it glows with earnest old-school terror and shiver.

When I saw that this was finally receiving a Bluray release, of course I had to pick it up. This movie is based on Stephen King's second published novel, Salem's Lot, and while differing from it - is still plenty creepy. Salem's Lot originally aired as a TV Mini-Series and was given a Home Release on DVD. This is the longer Home Release version remastered for Bluray. The restoration for this film is phenomenal and definitely worth the cheap price.

After 40 years (!), it not only still creeps me right the freak out, but somehow also gets me to jump in the same parts EVERYTIME. Every. Single. Time. It's a good example of how suspence, imagery and pacing when done right will always be scarier than gore and splatter,

This movie looks so much better on Blu Ray!! It looked awful on VHS and that’s really what got me uninterested in it when I was younger...I could hear the people talk very well and the darn lighting was AWFUL! I’m so glad that it looks and sounds so much better now!! This is a classic Stephen King horror movie for sure! Definitely worth checking out if you’re into vampires and Stephen King books or movies!!

This is a really spooky, Gothic horror film done in a classic style. The creature is truly horrific and James Mason is superlative (as always) in his role as the creature's caretaker. Don't miss this truly scary horror movie - they don't make them like this any more so don't miss it. Best Buys' price was great.

I've never seen Salem's Lot before. Through the years, I've heard friends and people on the Internet say how scary it was when they first watched it. Well, when I saw that it was on sale for a 4k, I had to buy it. The picture quality is great and as well as the sound. Tobe Hooper directed a very creepy movie, indeed. Especially for a made for television movie.

This movie was very solid in it time and the make up on the vampire is great, but it doesn't hold up as well today as I was hoping it would.

    Blast From The Past

I saw this movie when it originally aired in the 1970's and remember all the kids talking about it at school the next day. I hadn't seen it since then and didn't remember too much from it, except the floating vampire kid, and the bald vampire that looks like Nosferatu. It was pretty good. The BluRay looks nice but I didn't consider that it wouldn't be widescreen, since it probably wasn't filmed that way. Still, it was worth the purchase and both my kids enjoyed it without getting too scared.

One of the memorable movies growing up. Great book, sure, no question, but the movie itself is one permanently engrained in my memory. That scene, the guy sitting in the chair, rocking, rocking, and looks up with those eyes.... YEAH(!!) that's the scene that will live in my memory forever!!

Salems lot is not a film many people know of unless you really like horror or vampires. It was also a miniseries like IT 1990 and it is definetly creepy. The mystery around Mr Barlow is definitely something to behold. The steelbook is something one should not pass on. A true King classic!

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid back in the Eighties. It was pretty scary as a kid. It still stands up to most of these "New Releases" I highly recommend this movie.

Acclaimed writer Stephen King, and legendary director Tobe Hooper created a wonderful if not campy horror movie. One of the tactfully enjoyable vampire movies of last century. Definitely worth a watch, and worth putting in your collection.

And Stephen King novel adaptation. If you are looking for a gory slash fest, this isn't it. However it works great as a slow-building horror movie. Originally a made-for-tv series, this version is the complete Blu-ray edition. David Soul, in a very under-rated performance, leads an all-star cast.
