Found a little quirk when installing. Installation guide say ..."see the upper cabinet installation template"...then you read that template and of course it says "see the installation manual". Unless your smart, have it installed. Be aware you need something mos people don't have, a 5/8" drill bit.

The first one I received sounded like a snap crackle and pop and I was fearful it was going to blow up my house. Best Buy promptly granted me a replacement and the second one worked great. I think they could work on the installation process a little...but all in all, I am happy with the new one.

Lemon Right Out of the Box!!

We bought this microwave part of a package price for black friday. We were doing renovations and didn't open it until 6 months later. Right out of the box, the LCD screen was zig zagging and malfunctioning. Would not stay lit or readable. We called Samsung, and they would only repair it. Brand new appliance and they only repair, not replace! After about 4-5 service calls with 2 different companies, either not showing up at all, or coming 7pm when a 1-4pm time frame was given, I gave up. On my honeymoon overseas, I had to call and argue with Samsung and tell them I did NOT want a FIXED microwave, when it was not even used 1 minute. Long story short, and about 1 month later of arguing and calling and failed service attempts, they agreed to authorize an exchange. THis meant paying the contractor extra to uninstall, and now reinstall a new one. Not happy at all with Samsung's customer service. Even when you call, you will never speak to a manager. If I was to do it again, I would buy the appliance suite from Whirlpool or even Frigidaire that my mom has had for 7 years and going strong. I know I must have had a lemon, but still disappointing! Customer service should be better, ESPECIALLY since I spent thousands of dollars and bought a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, oven, TV, washer and dryer ALL from samsung.

This is my second Samsung microwave and I am very satisfied with it. It has plenty of room for everything I cook, very easy to clean, every function I need and then some and the dark gray stainless is beautiful. I have the brighter stainless appliances and wondered if it would fit and it looks great! The Geek Squad installer was excellent. 10 minutes and it was in. He knew exactly what to do and was very careful not to damage anything. Everything good and I am happy with it all! One consideration, it is 1000 Watts my old one was 1100 so cooks a little slower, but not a show stopper.

I have owned this microwave oven for 5 days now.
One of the lights that are underneath the microwave went out. No big deal right....
I called customer service to get a replacement bulb at no charge to me, so I thought. But I found out its not covered. I also found out that if it stops heating the food that also is not covered. But if the microwave blows up then it is covered.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing from the guy on the phone. You better hope you get a good one because
Samsung doesn't cover very much on there microwave ovens according to the guy I spoke to on the phone.
I never owned Samsung before I also have one of there gas ranges and have a dishwasher on order. Luck for me I bought them both from Best Buy and can return them.
Warranty is important to me and no one should get stuck with any manufacturing defects ever, little or big.
Samsung needs to rethink some of there customer service policy's.

well, it looks nice, anyway. great black & stainless combo, "ice blue" LED display. halogen lights (there are 2) below look really good! ceramic enamel interior is dark (like an oven) so doesn't appear so dirty and looks like it will clean easily.
It cooks faster than my last micro, and the sensor cook for beverage (first preset on cook button) works well. It cooks quietly (no buzz) and the 4 speed fan is awesome.
HOWEVER here are the things I didn't know and should have asked, or wish I could have tried at the store:
1) it can't run the timer while cooking, or cook while the timer is running. really? this may be a deal breaker for me.
2) you have to hit the start button. I want it to start after I hit the 30 seconds button, or go for 2 minutes after hitting 2. I have to hit 2-0-0-start, and hit start after every operation.
3) the touch pad is not very sensitive - actually takes a sort of heavy touch.
I may have to try an upgraded Samsung model or try the competition.

The interior is easy to clean, looks nice, does what it's supposed to. First fifteen minutes out of the box it's already scratched. The black unit front door is cheap, all plastic. Just running your hand across the front will leave a dozen marks. Appearance is equally as important as functionality. So I am rating it low for poor quality/build based on the door. If you don't care about durability and cosmetics, then you can skip this review.

At first loved the look and feel, except the light... very dim on the brightest level. Fan worked great, but then the keypad started to malfunction. The #5 stopped working. Then the "cancel" button failed. Then the fan button gave out, and things got sucky. I followed the youtube videos and cleaned behind the keyboard but it didn't work. Then the handled broke during normal use. Guess 2 years is it's life expectancy. Need a new microwave now...

Hi Olga,
We apologize for your experience with the 1.8 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Fingerprint Resistant Microwave with Sensor Cooking was less than ideal. We appreciate all feedback that helps us understand how to improve our products. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review.
The Light button allows you to select a light setting for your microwave.
LIGHT HI/LO/OFF BUTTON on page 10 https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/202001/20200123151031862/2017.12.14_ME18H704SFB_S_W_AA_AC_EN-CFR.pdf
Borosilicate glassware is used in the microwave oven because it is highly thermal resistant. Glass is a non-crystalline, hard but brittle solid material formed from the mixture of silica and silicate. This is necessary to keep the microwave energy inside of the microwave. It a required for both the operation of the oven and for safety. If it was not there, the energy would not stay in the microwave oven, it wouldn't cook your food, and it would be dangerous for you.
Like any other lightbulb, you need to change your microwave's oven light once in a while. But don't worry, it only takes a minute to replace the bulb with a new one, and soon you'll be cooking fast, delicious meals again. Caution: When replacing the oven light or cooktop light, make sure that you are wearing gloves to avoid injury from the heat of the bulb.
If the microwave has power but will not respond to any commands or only certain buttons work, clean the control panel and try a power cycle. If the panel still doesn't respond, service is required.

My only beef with this unit is the loud fan and halogen light. Why not LED?.. Led is cooler less expensive tuse and you don't have to replace it

Un-Installed Similar Model For THIS One

We sprung for a Samsung microwave to match our new Flex Duo gas oven... (split Flex door style, so innovative and ergonomic, it's amazing!).
ME18H704SFS is worth the extra price, compared to an identical looking model. Actually had the cheaper one installed due to its keypad simplicity, however later discovered it had an 11"in vs. 14" glass carousel plate on larger one -- and well worth the effort to swap!
Besides the slightly roomier interior, you will really like the quiet "Lo" fan setting, which actually moves air well -- there's also a simple fan countdown timer, and you can choose 1, 3, 5, 10 or 30 min, a very nice feature. The dual LED lights are a plus if they stay on, and the filter "pop-out" is so much better than the traditional 2 smaller grease filters.
All in all, the few extra buttons and cost aren't that big of a deal like I first thought! Just add to cart already, woo hoo!

Don't buy Samsung!

I will never buy a Samsung microwave again. Mine suddenly stopped heating after only 3 years. I was told that the likely culprit is the Magnetron which "luckily" is under warranty for 10 years. Samsung agreed to send a technician to my house to check out the problem. However, Samsung did not tell me that they don't cover the visit ($110!) or labor! Luckily, the technician called to warn me of this before they showed up (they must run into this a lot) so I was able to cancel. After calling Samsung back (on hold for 45 minutes), they said the only thing they could offer me was a 1-year extended warranty which would cover parts and labor. Intrigued, I said that sounded OK and asked how much. After being transferred to a "warranty specialist" (on hold for another 15 minutes), I was told that they would be happy to sell me an extended warranty....for $288! Never again Samsung!

I have had this microwave for over a year. It is reliable but the one thing I do not like is the turntable. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t keep it on the ring. I have had other people comment when they use my microwave.

After installing it a couple days after I placed a bag of popcorn and like a minute into heating the right side of the microwave caught fire! Luckily I was standing there when it happened and was able to open the door and stop it. I was going to return it but it's too much of a hassle so I decided to do a couple of test runs for safety. After 10 different tests it appeared to be fine. Heats things up quick. But I always stand there like a fireman just incase lol. I wouldn't recommend it but it's the cheapest black stainless steel I found to match with my range and fridge lol.

My first one failed after one year and one week. Just stopped heating. Samsung would not give me a break on the warranty. I do not remember how much the service call was, but I do know, economically, it made no sense. I elected to buy the same model at BB, just because it would be convenient to install and I did like the microwave. Being smarter now, I invested in the three year service plan. This is really a two-year extension of the warranty. (Not really). After five months, the same failure happened. If I called Samsung for the warranty service, they would’ve came out and picked it up. But no, I decided to take it to BB. I had to remove and deliver it. They in turn, sent it to a Service Center, which did repair it after 2~3 weeks. A failed magnetron, same as the first one.
After one year and two weeks since the original purchase, it again stopped working. Back to B.B. and a week later, they elected not to repair it. Issued me a store credit for the purchase price, but not the service plan. Samsung should have picked up the first repair, but B.B. would have to cover the second. They made the same decision I made on the first microwave I bought. To be fair to B.B., they did give some compensation on the next microwave. I will never buy any Samsung item again. BTY, I had bought a Samsung blue ray player that failed after 1 year and 3 months! Should have learned something then.
