This Laptop achieves what I want: From running a full virtual PC for business purposes in the Financial Services industry to effectively operating a Full Adobe Photo and Video editing suite. The large Hardrive, 8Gb of Ram, Core I7, and dedicated graphics makes this a cakewalk.
The design is elegant rivaling more expensive machines. The aluminum chassis and well designed keyboard feel like you are using something that had much thought put into the look and feel. If you don't like all those glossy screens and feel touch features are simply a novelty then the Anti-Glare High Resolution screen on this rig is right for you. It is bright and I am mostly satisfied with the color and black levels... They are not the Highest grade but this also isn't a $3,000+ electronic device.
The speakers are incredibly loud and one of the best sounding I have heard on a laptop this size in a long time. The boot time is quick thanks to the built in SSD for cache that I didn't even know it had until I was messing around with the bundled tools from Samsung. Battery Life is GREAT... not to sure about the fact I cant remove the battery hopefully that is not an issue down the road.
SIZE is great. For how much hardware the machine my expectations were surpassed. It cut my briefcase weight and bulk from my old machine by a significant percentage.
I was hesitant to purchase a refurbished unit but feel I either got lucky or maybe Geek-squad actually knows what they are doing and not just recycling garbage back to their retail customers. Which ever it was I am very happy as not only is this a great system but very economical in comparison to a new comparable unit.
I enjoy this laptop especially with some additional pairing features on my Samsung Galaxy S4. I am SAMSUNG Hooked!

Just what I wanted. I was looking for a laptop that would be used primarily all around my house. I've always had glossy screen issues with other laptops. My house has many windows and they were unusable outside on my deck. This computer has a faster processor than I probably need, dual graphics cards and 8gb of RAM. Its all packaged up in a thin, pretty package with a great backlit keyboard and beautiful matte screen that can even be used effectively outside on my deck. It's not super light but I believe that's mostly because of the battery which appears to be yielding 9 or so hours on a charge which is pretty darn good, I swapped out the 1tb hard disk for fast 256gb SSD and now it's awesome. Considerable difference in perceptible speed. For under 1k with SSD I think its a great deal. The refurb was in perfect condition and I'm a very finicky customer.

I've had this computer over a year now and it has been great. I can play about any video game and store a lot of stuff. It's still lightning quick.
However it came to me with a few dead pixels on the right side of the screen so that was a big negative. It sometimes bothers me, but never enough to take it back. Still a great purchase.

After downloading the drivers (especially the battery life extender one, works great!) I was really happy with it. With all the features it was excellent for the price. However, whenever I try to connect to the internet, I have LOADS of connectivity issues. It disconnects at least twice every ten minutes and reconnecting is horrible. I believe it's a WLAN card problem, or something so I'm getting a WLAN usb. I'm not overly fond of Windows 8, but it's bearable. The trackpad is also causing me a bit of issues. The large size of it makes typing a little hard to get used to. Figuring out what's left and what's right is a bit of a pain as is trying to right click. A really minor issue is that I can't automatically tell if my NumLock is on or not. I do enjoy the fact that there is a number pad, though. The graphics card is a bit outdated for my liking, but that's not too big of an issue either. Overall it's a gorgeous computer, but there are a few kinks that I am unhappy with.

I bought this laptop as refurbished for 699,a great deal. Reviewers noticed some issues with os etc. I was a bit concerned, but it came with w8 installed. Because of being on holiday I hadn't had much time to play with it. After 2 weeks I took a closer look and discovered that a lot of items weren't working: no bl keyboard, no express cache. All of the Samsung sw wasn't installed. fortunately all was on Samsung's website, so I spent some time installing the stuff.
The machine was great, fast, everything perfect. After a week or so,I noticed some lagging, but because of a trip to Europe hadn't time to think much of it.I wish I had, because than I would be able to return the machine.
Now I'm in Europe, and laptop doesn't perform at all. In 3 weeks it has 10.000 log events, of which 5000 disk errors.
Something is terribly wrong, but from Europe it is difficult to address. I'm in contact with Samsung's support us, to find out, but I'm pretty sure that geek squad did a lousy job.

The laptop is pretty good compare to the price I've paid for. It has major issues with keyboard and touchpad layout. Really inconvenient. As well the wireless connectivity sometime just stopped working. not sure why but I have disable and enable it to start working

Worst experience buying a laptop ever. From the minute it arrived, I had to update and download all new drivers and software because basically nothing was done to the laptop. It only came in a box with the laptop and charger cable, no software, manuals, or anything else. Over the course of a few weeks using it, the laptop got slower and slower. I got to the point where I was fed up and deleted all of my pictures, videos, and documents. I spent over 3 hours dealing with best buy and samsung on how to erase the laptop and start over so I could return it. All of them were unsuccessful because Geek squad did not properly set up my computer. It was missing files and needed software to erase everything. They were not even able to erase everything at the Best Buy store when I returned it. I highly recommend never purchasing a refurbished laptop, no matter how good of a deal it may be. Worst experience ever!

Best quality-price ratio for high-end laptop

So I'm an avid gamer and know quite a lot about computers. I was searching the latest technology and seeing which laptop manufacturers were producing the highest quality products.
A lot of manufacturers will either choose to go all-out on one category and neglect others, or they'll have ridiculously high-end high priced laptops that are overkill for the job.
To keep this short and sweet, Samsung has done an amazing job on offering storage, speed (the SSD used in conjunction with the HDD to enable faster boot times [as little as 15 seconds] is amazing), the processor (i7), and GPU are absolutely all you will need for the average user, and for the mobile gamer.
If you want a laptop that is light that you can enjoy the professional and sleek look of, with BACKLIT KEYBOARD, bluetooth, USB 3.0, the works, then this is it. I play League of Legends on max quality no problems, obviously that's not a very graphics demanding game, but I also played World of Tanks on medium quality with no frame rate issues, I'm sure most people would be happy with playing it on High and this laptop can run it nicely.
I'm really amazed by this laptop, I'm so happy with my purchase.
I'm certain if you're looking for a good quality laptop from a trusted manufacturer, with backlit keyboard, capable of playing the latest games (albeit not 1080 HD and maxed graphics, that would cost you $2000+) for only $699 then this laptop is really the way to go. Besides, you can always upgrade the GPU and other hardware, it's becoming increasingly simple in laptops now adays.
I don't need a desktop after buying this laptop.
Thanks Samsung.

Overall, the best laptop I owned so far! The only problem was that the backlit keyboard didn't light up as I turned it on the first time. After quite a few hours of trolling through Internet, and talking to Samsung customer care, I found out that the BestBuy refurbished version lacks the Samsung pre-installed softwares. Also, if your laptop comes with Windows 8, you need to update the Bios and also install some of the softwares from Samsung website that are required for basic functioning.
The battery on mine also needed a calibration, but once it's done, no problems so far!

I purchased one two weeks ago and, yes, it came with no apps but windows only. And that is no problem at all. You be amazed when you go to the manufacturer website and everything is there. Just find the model number and you will see all that you need or even more. Manual, firmware, and all apps that are recommended on this model are there.
This is my first Samsung brand laptop ever. I tried to purchase this model a year ago but just can’t afford the price. I like this cos of the NVIDIA Graphics which is very rare in this brand, or all other brands, plus the 3rd generation Intel i7 processor and more other features.
I am an AutoCAD, and Artist, if any, user and this is really good enough for me.
I just noticed that after 2 weeks the price came down and, well, it’s worth still. When it first came out more than a year ago this laptop was around or more than $1,600.00 but I feel like more than that.

I got this computer about a week ago and it's great! Its i7 CPU is really fast and powerful, the screen is sharp and w/ great image quality. I use it for personal use and also for business (I am an engineer and a scientist).
The only complaints I have is NOT about the product itself, but about Best Buy's "Geek Squad Certified Refurbished" label.
1. When they refurbished this computer, they just installed Windows 8 Pro on the machine (and did NOT provide the Windows KEY for this install!!!!)
2. Best Buy did NOT provide any of the computer manuals or documentation that is supposed to come with the computer
3. The MOST important problem: Geek Squad did NOT install ANY of the Samsung-specific drivers or software. Therefore, right off the box, there were TONS of functionality that just did NOT work. I had to contact Samsung, and get THEM to tell me where I could download updated drivers and software, and install it all myself. These are just SOME of the functions that DID NOT WORK when I received the computer:
(1) NO sound out of the headphones port.
(2) Fn 6, 7, 8 keys to control volume did NOT work. If I clicked MUTE the computer would get STUCK on mute and had to be rebooted to get sound again. Clicking the volume icon on the lower right side did NOT work either.
(3) Fn 2,3 keys to control screen brightness did NOT work
(4) Keyboard backlight did NOT work at all
(5) mouse pad special functions (i.e. 2-finger and 3-finger gestures) did NOT work at all
(6) Fn11 to shut down the fan did NOT work
(7) Fn - Delete to eject CD/DVD did NOT work
(8) TONS of other functionality did NOT work when I received the machine.
It's all working fine now, but NO THANKS to Best Buy. And I still need BestBuy to provide the Windows 8 Key ...
However, the computer itself is GREAT. And once you get all the drivers and functionalities working, it's AWESOME.

Bought it Twice!

I originally bought this computer brand new at full price in October 2012 and was very satisfied with it. Unfortunately in May 2013 it fell off my couch with the power cord plugged in. It worked fine but the power cord twisted inside the charging port damaging both the charger and the A/C port on the computer. I sent it in to get fixed and it was too costly to fix it, so I got my money back instead (this is why you buy accidental damage protection!). I looked around at other computers but I honestly loved the computer I had. Unfortunately it was discontinued, but I did find this refurbished one instead. This laptop was a steal when I bought it for $999, at $699 I couldn't pass it up. I love the matte display for working outside, I love the size and form factor, and I love the backlit keyboard. The touchpad has drastically improved from when the laptop was first released. You can't go wrong with this computer, it really is awesome.

I purchased this laptop when it was on sale at my best buy store in Johnson City, TN. I got it brand new and it has worked great. I got It back in Feb of 2013 and it still has the same speed and everything. Great for gaming as well! Love the new windows 8!

I am returning this laptop to Best Buy. I bought it as a gift. In came in a generic box without manuals, a Windows disk, or a Windows install key. Without a Windows key it is not possible to upgrade, say to Windows 8.1. The Samsung software was not installed, so many of the special functions keys do not work. The keyboard is completely non-ergonomic.
