Great TV for an Office
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cannot do without a TV & needed to replace the TV in my office/exercise room. Went to Best Buy & picked out their smallest TV. Opted to go with the Samsung even though it was $20 more than another brand because I have a friend who has a 32" Samsung & it is fantastic. The TV I replaced had a tinny sound so I hooked it up to computer speakers. This TV has great sound without neeeding to be hooked up to speakers. I am on disability & get overwhelmed very easily. This was easy to set up even for me. The picture is great. Only thing wrong with it was the "return" button on the remote did not work. I bought this TV just under a month ago & today was the first chance I had to call regarding the remote. My Best Buy store wanted to give me a remote off the display as their return policy is 15 days. I called up Samsung & they are sending me out a brand new remote free of charge. Samsung customer service is superb. That is worth the extra $20 I paid for the TV. Also great is the 6 month financing option.

SOLID 4 1/2 stars
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a GREAT little television. Bought this television over the weekend to replace a shot first generation HDTV 15" that was in our kitchen. First, because of the slim size (11 3/8" from top to bottom), it was the perfect choice for mounting under the kitchen cabinets. Looks-wise, it's lovely, thanks to its thin, unobtrusive piano black trim. The picture quality is very good, but not eye-popping like our other (2 month old) 46" Samsung Smart TV. (But that comparison isn't exactly fair, considering the differing tech specs of each, thus the 5 stars for pic quality for this little guy.) Wish the sound quality were a bit better, but it does have a virtual surround sound feature that seems to beef it up. Placing the speakers forward would have probably helped, but then the slim size would have suffered. Ultimately, we'd rather sacrifice a little on the sound for its slim design. Paired it up with our AppleTV for a perfect streaming combo. Finally, our salesperson arranged a price match to the BB website, which was $157.99 the day we purchased. Of course, that's not a surprise, as they've always made price matching hassle free, in our experience.

TV-5, Stand-0
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great TV set for my purposes. I was looking for a TV for our kitchen that would have a decent size screen while offering a small profile, had a good picture and good sound in spite of its small size. This one fit the bill very nicely and met all our needs and expectations. My only complaint was the stand that it uses. You only need to use 3 screws to attach it to the bottom of the set, but you will need the perfect Phillips screwdriver to get that done. I tried unsuccessfully for over an hour with several of my screwdrivers, finally gave up and took it back to Best Buy where one of their Geek squad guys did it in 6 minutes (at no charge). Operation set up was simple and I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank goodness I bought it at Best Buy or I would never have been able to securely attach the stand. Other reviewers don't seem to have had this problem, so it must just have been me.

great for kitchen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchase this tv for my kitchen. The set up was not as easy as the sales person said it would be. I spent 1 1/2 hours with support from Samsung and 3 different agents. The remote had to be reset. Once they figured that out, it was a breeze to set up. Picture and sound quality are great and this is perfect for my kitchen.

Best one available in this size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We only found one other brand in this size and the sound was horribly tinny. It's obvious that the speakers on this TV are small, but you get decent sound and an excellent picture.

Excellent mid-sized TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent choice for a mid-priced, mid-sized TV. I upgraded from a 24" CRT, so naturally anything would seem fantastic in comparison. Good choice for a small-to-modest apartment/room. Easy to set-up. It was out of the box, assembled, plugged in, and finalized within an hour. No swearing required. For an HDTV, I expected really super-sharp exciting picture quality. Maybe I just haven't figured out the settings yet, but it's not quite the real-life, cutting-edge, mesmerizing quality I hoped for. It's good, but not great. Overall, I'm quite pleased.

Good TV for informal viewing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this TV to use in our kitchen. One of the things I like about it is the "magic angle" feature. It effectively causes the picture to be "enhanced" (more vivid colors) when viewing the TV from below the set itself. This works quite well since we normally view it from our kitchen counter stools. (However, when you then stand up and walk past it, the picture is a bit washed out.) We use Comcast. We choose not to have yet another cable box for this TV so we just use one of their DTAs. The TV is thus constantly confused as to whether or not it should display the channel full-screen or not. The TV itself can be adjusted to show all channels full-screen but then you lose part of the picture on some of the channels. This is not the TV's fault. If only Comcast had a High Def version of their DTA...

A great television. Easy setup. Excellent picture.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was purchased for my mother for Christmas to replace an old set in her kitchen. In the meantime the set in her bedroom shot craps. We gave her the set early to replace it. The only negative with the set is it is a little small for the bedroom. In a kitchen it would be the ideal size.

Great kitchen companion
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed this tv under my cabinet in my kitchen via a swivel mount and connected it to an HD DTA from Comcast. Great picture and is slim enough to push it back against the wall to get it out of the way for more counter space. Recommended.

very good tv but terrible online support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two Samsung TVs. There is the SAME problem on both. When the TIMER VIEWING option is set up and programs are selected to be viewed MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, the TV does not keep track of days correctly, so two days other than Saturday and Sunday are skipped. NOTE: the date was rechecked repeatedly and year + month + day were definitely set correctly in advance of programming the timer viewing. The only way to get a program to repeat Monday through Friday is to set it for EVERY DAY and then manually change to another channel at that time on Saturday and Sunday. If you reject a proposed viewing time that flashes on the screen (instead of manually changing channel), the timer programming goes away and you have to start over from scratch. Online chat people don't have a clue about this. They just keep going around in circles, stating the obvious and totally missing the point. EVERY question I asked them about timer viewing was answered INCORRECTLY. I know more from reading the instructions than the so-called "experts" who are supposed to help fix problems. Samsung really needs to do something about this if they care about being credible.

believe what others have said
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Other reviewers said the sound was tinny. Please note - it's not just a little tinny. It's REALLY tinny. Other reviewers said that the TV wobbles on the base. Please note - it doesn't wobble just a little. It wobbles A LOT. It's a design problem. The Incredible Hulk couldn't tighten this thing enough to prevent it from wobbling. Please keep these things in mind when deciding whether to purchase this item.

Good picture, lousy sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If designers were thinking, they would have determined that a 19 inch TV is not to be hung on the wall. That size is standing up in kitchen or small bedroom. So they could have added some thickness to to the housing and have room for some better speakers. Along those lines could have possibly added an internal UHFantenna like my 29 year old TV had. Now it is sitting in a corner of our kitchen, bulky power cord and I have to add an antenna and external speakers behind it. The picture is ok, but contrast is set on max because picture has a washed out appearance, which changes from station to station.

Disappointed with Samsung!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tv & returned it. The stand for the tv was not stable & the tv was not leveled. The tv would rock from side to side. I called Samsung about it & they were not very helpful. I was not pleased with the color out of the box. Color was too vibrant with lots of reds. I found a review on the internet that provided manual setting for the TV & tried it. I decided that at $159 I should not have to work that hard for a TV that would be in the kitchen. I returned it for the Insigna, which surprisingly has a much better picture out of the box!
