When it works it's great - then it stops working

We loved this dishwasher. Until it started having issues a few months after we got it. We had initially installed it ourselves (well, my very competent husband did). We wondered it maybe we did something wrong, so paid for Best Buy to come install it. Still didn't work. Parts were ordered, worked for a short while. Stopped working. More parts, came out again, worked, then stopped working. More parts, worked for awhile. Then we moved, installed at new house. Worked for a month then stopped. Guess what - we were then out of warranty and would have had to pay a ton of money for them to come out and "look at it" again. No thank you. Sad to see this is an issue many others have had as well. VERY disappointed for how much we spent on this dishwasher.

Bought to install in new house. Installed April 2014.Moved into home end of May. Two people in house. The dishwasher started acting up June 2015. Would not work at all August 2015. Called repair service and was quoted around 4 to $500.00 to repair. Bought a Kitchenaid and sent this junk Samsung to trash will send all other Samsung appliances to same place as soon as finances allow. This company produces nothing but junk.

    DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!

This review is not a knock on Best Buy, It is just a warning not to buy a samsung dishwasher. I bought this model one year ago and have had to have it serviced 5 times. I have had great experiences in the past dealing with samsung customer service, but there handling of this particular situation was unprofessional and changed my opinion of the their company. The third party service company that samsung contracts to fix their machines told us flat out that samsung dish washers were the worst on the market. This is coming from guys that work on these machines daily.

OK Appliance Until a Repair Is Needed

The dishwasher performed adequately--not perfectly--until it started leaking after 20 months of use. So far, even with a Geek Squad Protection plan, we still don't have it repaired after five weeks of trying. Twice the part needed--the entire inner front door assembly--has arrived damaged. We believe that the part was packed and wrapped by the manufacturer, Samsung, which so far has ignored our requests for special packaging to protect the part. After all the work that we put into our kitchen, it is dejecting to have our dishwasher wearing a diaper and demoralizing that the GSP plan has failed to fix our appliance. We would not consider purchasing another Samsung appliance until they turn around their track record.

It's a great dishwasher but I didn't like the fact that it doesn't heat dry the dishes, it dries the dishes using the rinse aid so it dries about 85%

Do not buy without warranty, how to fix smell

First I'd like to comment about the SMELL problems I see in other reviews. A Best Buy salesman convinced me to buy a stainless steel inside because they are so durable that he threw his keys in it and no scuffs. Well I was excited when BB installed it, but sadly regretful because AFTER running and dishes are clean inside, IF YOU DON'T KEEP THE DOOR PARTIALLY OPEN, IT WILL CAST THE FOULEST SMELL EVER!!! I think the reason is air is not getting in and/or the SS tub because I didn't have this problem with all the other non-SS tubs I've used all my life. Anyway, I bought this Aug 2013 and it stopped working Oct 2014. Didn't buy warranty because I thought well our GE dishwasher lasted 10 years without a single problem until it quit, so thinking dishwashers are reliable and that Samsung made a quality product--Boy was I WRONG!!!! Scheduled a repair company to show up but also that was the same day the dishwasher worked again. We figured it was the garbage disposer was full and wasn't turned on for a while so the dishwasher stopped. So it started working after that. But now, May 2016 the lights are blinking and it stops working, tried several things. I am done with the Samsung brand forever and went down and bought a new GE dishwasher with a warranty. I cannot recommend the Samsung brand after these bad experiences!

Great Price, Not So Great Performance

I got this dishwasher for a steal during the 4th of July sale and it had pretty solid reviews. I've used the dishwasher for a little over 3 months now, and like other reviews said, it is sleek and quiet. My issue is that it does not clean very well. You really have to pre-rinse and soak your dishes before they go into the dishwasher to get them clean, which kind of defeats the purpose of owning a dishwasher. For example, today I was unloading the dishwasher from yesterday's cycle. I had made scrambled eggs and put the pan into the dishwasher. - there was a little egg stuck to it, which I assumed was going to be washed off. It was not. This happens pretty much all the time. I have tried a bunch of detergents, so that is not the issue either. I'm also not a huge fan of the rack setup on the bottom - as I said, the dishwasher does not clean well and the plates are meant to go very close together, so it's cumbersome to spread them out and make sure nothing is touching so they get clean. I do like that you can remove the silverware basket.

      Hi LaurFromLI,

I'm sorry to hear your DW80F600UTS isn't cleaning well. Here are some tips that may help to improve the situation:
      - Set your home's hot water heater to the recommended 120°F ~ 140°F;
      - Make sure the supplied water pressure is sufficient (20 ~ 120 psi); and
      - Check the spray nozzles on the dishwasher to make sure they aren't clogged.

For more information and troubleshooting tips, please refer to the User Manual or the online Troubleshooting Guide, as well.

      Thank you,
      Ms. SamsungMsSamsung

Worst appliance I have ever owned

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the predecessor to this model in October of 2010. The first service call was to address the upper rack adjusters cracking and dropping plastic into the interior which then got stuck in the food chopper. After having to replace the handles 4 more times in a year, Samsung decided that they would not longer supply replacements. I purchased two more from Amazon, then tie-wrapped the handle in one position. Over the life of the machine, we have logged 18 service calls for other problems, pump failure, control panel failure (twice), sensors (everywhere) finding faults that didn't exist and shutting the machine down, etc. It just went on vacation two days ago, it thinks there is a leak, no water in sight so it is going to the dump. The extended warranty company won't call it a lemon and replace it unless it fails for the same problem twice in three months, and there are so different problems, it is never consistent, just broken as much as working. Maybe Samsung has corrected all of the issues, but google the model number and "problems" and see that their dishwashers seem to still be upsetting a lot of people.

    Worst dishwasher ever

I've had quite a few including builder grade GE's like the one this replaced . The builder grade ones were way better! Had 2 in warranty services on it to replace broken parts and address the fact that it has no drying capability . He said to use one of those liquid agents which I never had to do with the cheap ones . I tried the agents and water still covers all the dishes . I've noticed my glasses are all now coated and have started tossing them. Also a first (I'm 48). And because of the sitting water , it quite often smells horrendously!!

I bought this dishwasher as part of a samsung package deal. dishwasher worked ok for almost a year, but had constant trouble with odor coming from the dishwasher. After 11 months a trouble light came on and ended up being a bad drain pump. Samsung came out right away to repair this because it was within the 1 year warranty. It worked fine for about 2 months then the same issue came back. This time I had to rely on the extended warranty that I had purchased. What a joke. Here i am 6 weeks later and this dishwasher still doesnt run after 2 repair attempts for some local place that Best buy's warranty contracts out through. I'm not sure what has been worse, the dishwasher or the warranty service. In the words of the dishwasher repair man that came out "buy american next time"....nice!

Call it what it is. It does a mediocre job. They didn’t do a good job at Samsung on this model. Maybe had it for 3 years. Drainage is subpar leaving the smell of drain water in after a wash. Drying is horrible as most dishes are wet after full cycle. Cleanliness is average as you need to put it on heavy cycle to ensure it gets clean and give it a good rinse/scrub before putting the dishes in. So why even have a dishwasher. Under any cycle, the dishes still have residue and glass has come out poor now. Just less on heavy vs. normal. If you don’t use rinse-aid, even worse. The door latch as broken: so the switch or latch itself has gone bad. Always expected better product from Samsung. Would encourage you not to buy and search for another product.

    It Just Plain Doesn't Work

I had read the reviews of this dishwasher and they were very favorable. When we got it home, it seemed ok, but we weren't sure. After a while we figured there might be something wrong with it, so we called Samsung and had them send out a repairman to take a look. Once he looked at it, our worst suspicions were confirmed - we owned a dishwasher that wasn't good at washing details. We've had it for less than 2 years and are considering replacing it. Do not buy this dishwasher unless you like washing your dishes by hand.

I've had this dishwasher for right at 18 months and this is the second time it has stopped working. It filled with water and won't drain due to a flood sensor going out again. The dishes come out dirty especially glass cups. Really wish I had read the reviews on consumer affair's website before buying this hunk of junk!!!

      Hi Krystal,

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your DW80F600UTS. There are a number of factors that can prevent a Dishwasher from functioning properly, many of which are addressed in the User Manual. Please refer to the 'Cleaning and Maintaining' and 'Troubleshooting' sections of the User Manual for suggestions to help address the issues you're experiencing. For example, it's possible that the cleaning performance can be addressed by cleaning the spray nozzles (pages 20-21). The manual can be downloaded as a pdf file from Samsung's website for your convenience.

If the issues persist, please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

      Thank you,
      Ms. Samsung MsSamsung

Had this just over a year and have been through over 6 repairs and it still leaks. Samsung said that now they will refund us the money after we remove the model number tag, cut the cord and send them a picture. They also will not refund the entire amount but pro-rate it? Would be okay if it worked right from the beginning. It is quiet due to it not working most of the time, looks pretty and all maybe to be used in the garden. Do not buy!

    Great dishwasher, horrible lifespan

The dishwasher looks attractive, has a roomy interior, and has a sanitizer setting that is terrific for new babies and kids. I can run a load of toys without hesitation. It also is great for a green house. But it has died on us. Twice. Plus the upper rack broke. Both issues are common, or so the repairman said. The motherboard fries because the water seeps into it, and the wheels on the rack commonly pop free. So, all in all, it's not enough to justify the money. Oh, and the motherboard is carried under a separate company, so it's a no go on the warrantee. Ugh.

Flee: this model has known flaws

Read the thread: my experience involves a common issue in which circuit boards give false error messages and need frequent, expensive replacement. Samsung does ZERO to stand behind the product after day #366 passes. As a bonus, the Samsung call center had me on hold and transferred to various reps for an hour only to say I was on my own, which could have taken 30 seconds with a competent, intelligible rep (unlike the people I have come to know through my many calls). I replaced a cheap builder-installed Frigidaire with this unit only 2 years ago and now I'm shopping once more. Needless to say I'll never buy a Samsung appliance again.
