    Compared to 27inch alienware

So I have both monitors. I enjoy the crisp 27inch 4k screen but Samsung has something no one else has and it’s very important… the color settings, the Alienware 240hz competition just doesn’t have any of the color abilities that this Samsung has it easy to adjust based on the content. The type of setting it offers really lets you zero in on the colors you enjoy seeing. Let’s say I switch to a movie and I like my colors to be different on a game… the Alienware this is a pain and you ultimately just don’t mess with it… the Samsung inspires you to learn what all the differences are in the settings… Samsung!!!! 27 inch version now!!!! 4k at 27 inches is king. It is the perfect ratio in my opinion my face is less than one foot from the screen and I’m very happy. With the 32 inch Samsung you need more distance which I don’t like but the color setting really do set this apart from your average monitor.

To make it simple which monitor is best for you! either that alienware 4k 240h glossy display or this samsung 4k 240h matt display! one is more value for your money and one is pure money for quality both qualities are great you won’t be upset especially if you are coming from any downgrade monitor. I came from a Dell 1440p 165h IPS display. you get my point! so if you were to choose… here some last good thoughts samsung smart hub with game features from nvidia app that lets you play games without the console by subscribing to virtual PCs. the monitor also has build in speakers and an two HDMI ports with one having an ARC port which allows integrate any sound system with an hdmi connector the main audio source. last but not least you can also tilt the monitor 360 degrees overal value for your money the alienware does not have any of those features but you get what you paying for if you want quality and that’s all because of a glossy display. everything else is the same on the inside. the display in general will make the colors shine and bright more also the monitor has a higher nit brightness setting so once again quality will look better for sure.

As the rush of 4k 240hz monitors hit the market there was so many to pick. Ive had 6 other Samsung monitors and never had an issue myself. I also value the built in TV streaming since my office is abit of a get away to watch shows as well as gaming. Monitor has regular updates and is supported well.

Lots of features and the display is very nice. This monitor can also work as a smart TV so you can watch Netflix, YouTube etc and even gaming apps such as NVIDIA GeForce now. You can connect mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth directly to this monitor and play games without needing a console or PC. However if you intend to use this for office or productivity be careful because burn in sets really fast. I experienced burn in within 3 weeks. That is an extremely short amount of time to see burn in. 3 weeks after use I noticed the windows task bar had been burned in at the bottom with icons. I used the monitor for office use daily and also gaming sometimes.

    It's not just a monitor

I thought this was just a monitor, completely unaware that it had a built-in system until I turned it on for the first time. All I wanted was a monitor to pair with my PC; for me personally, this system and built-in speakers are of no use. I don't know why it's still called G8, even though there are such significant differences from the previous generation. The monitor gives me a feeling of a slight bulge in the middle as if it's a reverse curved screen, which is very strange. I am very sure that I was extremely careful while installing it and there were no bumps. Please leave a commit if you have the same feeling. And as for the monitor itself, it’s OK. My ideal high-end HDR monitor should be able to achieve a global brightness of 300-400 nits, beyond which it starts to become glaring, but this monitor is only about 200 nits. After testing, the DP interface now permanently enables DSC, even if you set it to 60Hz. And when I use the HDMI port, only 60Hz is available, even though the same HDMI cable can run 4K 120Hz without enabling DSC on another monitor, further testing is required.

I have been using this monitor for about 6 months and has been one of the best purchases I have made for my game room. I am able to plug my laptop and have an extra screen and when I’m not working, it’s perfect for streaming apps or playing videogames.

At first using the remote to navigate changing inputs seem like a bad idea, unt you get used to it. After some help from YouTube to better the visual settings, the stand alone TV apps/ features are more than welcomed. Not having to have the PC on to watch Netflix etc is great on the electric bill and just makes sense. Gaming wise, your games will look and play amazing.

The Samsung 32" Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD) is a cutting-edge gaming monitor that promises to deliver top-tier performance and stunning visuals. One thing to watch for when setting it up is the ports don’t feel sturdy. That Is, don’t plug your cables in with great force and yank them out. Be careful when you’re connecting the cables. The main drawback is the tv function. It is very annoying to have to fiddle around with the tv settings during setup and get it so that my PC outputs to the monitor. If Samsung is billing this monitor for gamers, then it should have made it easy for gaming. We don’t want to watch TV on this. That said, once you set it up and ignore the tv aspects, getting into 4K HDR 240Hz OLED gaming is like that classic song “A whole new world”. It is just amazing. You’ll want to play your games just to marvel at the stunning life-like visuals. The Odyssey OLED G8 shines when it comes to speed and responsiveness. Featuring a remarkable 240Hz refresh rate and an almost instantaneous 0.03ms response time, this monitor is designed for competitive gamers who need every possible advantage. The high refresh rate ensures smooth, fluid gameplay, which is particularly beneficial in fast-paced genres like FPS and racing games. You can plug in either with 8K DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1. Once I dialed down the extraneous settings and turned on DLSS3 with frame generation, I was getting between 140-170 FPS in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 running at 4K. The inclusion of AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology further enhances the experience by minimizing screen tearing and input lag, ensuring a seamless and immersive gaming session. The visual quality of the Odyssey OLED G8 is simply breathtaking. Thanks to OLED technology, the monitor offers deep black levels and vivid colors, creating an incredibly lifelike image. The absence of pixel light bleed means that dark scenes are rendered with exceptional clarity and detail, making horror games and dark-themed titles more immersive. Make sure you turn on HDR on your PC in the Windows 11 display settings because this monitor supports HDR10+ (Samsung uses HDR10+ instead of Dolby Vision in its monitors). Every color pops, and the contrast ratio is among the best you can find in the current market. My laptop is a 2024 model with 165 Hz refresh rate powered by NVIDIA RTX 4070, but this monitor makes my laptop’s screen look pedestrian. It is just a massive upgrade, but I already own a Samsung 4K OLED TV (S95B) so I sort of knew what to expect. One of the standout features of this monitor is its Glare Free technology. This significantly reduces the impact of external light sources on the screen, allowing you to focus on your game without annoying reflections or glare. The matte finish might annoy some, but I found it very helpful. This feature is especially useful in brightly lit rooms or during daytime gaming sessions, as it enhances visibility and reduces eye strain, ensuring you can play comfortably for longer periods. The Odyssey OLED G8 is not just about performance; it's also about style. This monitor just oozes a premium, high end vibe. The sleek metal design, measuring just 3.9mm at its thinnest point, gives it a modern and sophisticated look that can elevate any gaming setup. The CoreLighting+ feature adds a customizable ambient lighting experience, allowing you to set the mood to match your game or your personal preference. This monitor is as much a statement piece as it is a high-performance device. Long gaming sessions can be taxing, but the Odyssey OLED G8's ergonomic stand helps mitigate this issue. The stand allows you to swivel and tilt the monitor to find the perfect viewing angle. This flexibility ensures you can maintain a comfortable posture, reducing the risk of strain and discomfort during extended use. It's clear that Samsung has put a lot of thought into the usability and comfort of this monitor. As a smart monitor, the Odyssey OLED G8 includes a suite of smart features that add to its versatility. You can easily switch between gaming and other forms of entertainment, such as streaming or browsing the web, without the need for additional devices. The built-in smart hub and user-friendly interface make navigating these features a breeze. I was already familiar with the Samsung Tizen software since I own a Samsung TV, but to others it might take a while to get used to it. The Samsung 32" Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD) is a premium gaming monitor that delivers on all fronts. Its exceptional speed and responsiveness, combined with stunning visual quality and innovative features like Glare Free technology, make it a top choice for serious gamers. The sleek design and ergonomic stand add to its appeal, ensuring it looks great and feels comfortable in any setup. If you’re in the market for a high-performance gaming monitor that doesn’t compromise on style or functionality, the Odyssey OLED G8 is an excellent investment.

Right out of the box I was immediately impressed by how simple it was to put this monitor together -just snap and twist without any tools whatsoever. Also, it is not heavy, so handling it was easy. The next thing I noticed was how thin the panel is in comparison with my other 32” monitors. The silver/black design language is sleek and elegant. The silver edges are not intrusive, and the bezels are super thin. Once on my desk, I noticed that I had more real state to put my speakers and soundbar under the monitor. The monitor features plenty of connectivity such as HDMI 2.1, DP.14, and USB-A. Unfortunately, it is missing a USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack. Also, I would’ve liked to see an additional HDMI port. There is also Bluetooth support. Setting it up is a breeze, especially since I have a Samsung phone. Through the app, I can adjust settings and use it as a remote. In addition, I can use it as a digital controller and many other cool features. I originally thought the smart features were a gimmick, but not only did I find myself watching media content this way more often, but that allowed my PC to rest when not in use. The sun-powered remote is a great supplement. Another surprising feature is that there is picture-in-picture mode! The panel features a non-reflective coating which is rather impressive. My office has two large windows, and they were not an issue whatsoever. I thought this would affect the picture quality, but I was pleased that this was not the case. Speaking of visuals, the OLED screen is beautiful to look at right out of the box. The colors are vibrant, the whites are bright, and the blacks are silky dark. The contrast is deep as well. Nevertheless, I spent a very long time tweaking the picture. I am glad that this monitor can keep some profiles as my settings would change depending on the content. 4k-HDR content simply looks eye-popping. I mainly work on one monitor and play content on the other, and I am so impressed by the viewing angles. Even at ridiculous angles I can see the picture clearly. The AI mostly handles resolution upscaling, which is nice, but sometimes can be noticed and be a bit distracting, especially when a lot of movement is happening or when highly contrast pictures are flashing at lower resolutions. I still appreciate it though. When it comes to gaming, I was also quite satisfied. The 240Hz makes navigating buttery smooth. There are not a lot of games that take advantage of HDR on PC, but the ones that did looked amazing. To appreciate the 4K-HDR resolution, you must have a high-end PC. Even with my custom build I barely went above 60fps on 4K on triple-A titles, but lowering the res to 1440p, they ran much better at higher frame rates and response times while still looking amazing. The Freesync support was the icing on the cake. Hooking up a 4K capable console using the included 2.1 HDMI cable fully takes advantage of the monitor’s capability and is a joy to play. The gaming hub is a decent feature as I can stream games on my fast internet and the games looked great with the AI upscaling. I also appreciate the dynamic cooling system which prevents overheating. There is an AI brightness adjustment when a static logo or menus to prevent screen burn-in. In addition, there is a screen saver when the screen is not playing anything. Lastly, the audio is good. It is loud and clear. However, it is lacking bass, so a sound system or headset would be highly recommended. Yes, this monitor does have a premium price tag, but in my opinion, it is totally worth it. I’d say check it out and you won’t be disappointed.
