Serious tradeoffs with text quality

I cannot express just how disappointed I was to return this monitor. I came from an Asus Predator IPS panel, 27" and 4k120. Unfortunately, a few things work against this G8 as being a viable monitor for me. But, let's start with the pros:
- It is nice and thin. It weighs less than my 27" monitor did.
- The 240Hz refresh rate is butter smooth
- Contrast is excellent
- Gaming looks beautiful
The cons far outweigh the pros if your use case is anything like mine – 40 hours a week WFH plus a couple hours a night of casual or competitive gaming:
- The text clarity is the FOREMOST reason I returned this monitor. The subpixel arrangement for these OLEDs is conducive to color and contrast, but not text. On two platforms - Mac and PC - and every combination of settings under the sun, there was absolutely no way I could make the text acceptably sharp enough to look at. The purple/green fringing was definitely part of that, but the text just isn't sharp to begin with. Placing the monitor further away and increasing the text size doesn't help much, and frankly defeats the purpose of having a 32" monitor. I suspect some of this has to do with the pixel density being noticeably worse (138 PPI for this versus 163 on my 4k/27") due to the larger panel.
- The interface/software is horrible and basically requires using the included remote to navigate well. Lots of features are locked out if you don't connect it to WiFi or sign in to SmartThings. Boo.
- The brightness in SDR mode is lackluster. It's just not pleasant to look at for anything except gaming.
- No easy way to switch between game mode and graphic mode. Several menu layers/button clicks to do it.
- HDR mode looks horrible no matter the combination of settings I used. Completely washed out.
- Weird power on/off behavior, coupled with poor software, makes this display act unpredictably.
- No matter what I did to turn off power saving, automatic contrast/brightness, etc., I always got the impression the monitor was modulating brightness in different areas of the screen, making certain white-dominant screens/windows look brighter than others.
- Only a single DP connection. There should really be two.
- No USB-C
This monitor should really be $600-800 at the most, and not $1,300+ after tax. I thought I had held out long enough for tech to catch up to my desires, but I was unfortunately mistaken. In anything 32" or up, I'm going to hold out for a 6K/8K monitor that is capable of 120Hz+, knowing that I won't be able to game above 4K but that my text will at least be sharp enough not to give me a headache.

Having tried many oled monitors this past year i think i finally came into one i can settle with. Having had 4k monitors in the past i was missing that from 1440p counter parts. The color vibrancy, accuracy, and brightness are fantastic. Could it be brighter? Sure but in the current offerings this is great for all lighting conditions i deal with. The oled glare free coating is the most impressive coating ive seen and shouldn't sway people that might be prefering glossy. As I do myself but this is something else!

This monitor is great for a gaming console I would say. It has TV features that are annoying if you're using this strictly for PC! But overall it has a great display, look crisp and clear. Only cons I will say is the annoying TV features and I wish it was the screen was a little brighter but hey everything can't be perfect! (I got this monitor as "fair" open box for $629 and the condition was excellent , no scratches, screen is perfect and everything was included in the box except the HDMI Cable. This was definitely a steal for me so I really can't complain lol!)

This may be very biased because it is my first OLED monitor… However, i want to note I’ve had wuite a few monitors prior, even a 4K monitor previously (an LG 4K 144hz IPS monitor if I remember correctly). Colors on this monitor are amazing! Im running a 4080 GPU and it is holding up with great temps. I do want to add that for fps games, i squeeze as many frames as i can get! Despite the lower graphic settings, it looks so much better! So much so that i want to play more single player games just to immerse myself. There is the fear of burn in, however, I got the BestBuy warranty just to be safe.

Flickering issues and bloatware

Screen would flicker off for a second or two every few minutes even when using smart features with nothing plugged in. Found to be a common issue online. This is a flawless oled panel that can be found from several other manufacturers that are cheaper with less common issues and useful features like a KVM instead of samsung tv. Purchased MSI 321URX same picture quality better experience also power supply is built in no big fat power brick to hide. Menu is absolutely horrible, making it act as a monitor and not a smart TV is actually tedious. Samsungs design is absolutely beautiful so they can get another star for that.

I swapped my old monitor for this one and have 0 regrets. What an amazing image quality and response time. I use to to game with my ps5. Occasionally, I use the TV feature and stream shows. The speakers are decent for this being a monitor.

Just a really great OLED display. I use it for a mixture of WFH, gaming and watching media and it’s amazing. Best color performance out of any other OLED I’ve tried in terms of punchiness (not accuracy)

picture quality is incredible, but the "smart" functionality is often more trouble. Also be mindful that there is no way to sync these monitors together if you are running two. Which makes adjusting settings and inputs a challenge using the same remote. Very frustrating that Samsung did not consider dual monitor as a use case.

I first experienced samsungs QD-OLED technology with an alienware 34inch monitor. Then I found an awesome deal for a 49inch monitor at Sam’s by MSI, unfortunately the aspect ratio was battling with my GPU for some reason. So I decided to try out LGs 39inch UWQHD W-OLED monitor, and man… HDR looked absolutely terrible. So just in the nick of time, I traded in that LG for this samsung monitor and the HDR reproduction and 4K was absolutely mind blowing. The smart features are plus, but im a PC gamer so i dont use it much as a mini TV. But gaming on this thing is absolutely amazing. I LOVE IT, and if you have the buying power I COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH. You need a 4k, High refresh rate, OLED monitor with awesome HDR, built in speakers, and as an extra can serve as a personal smart TV, then this is your monitor.

It's amazing other than it is the same size as my 27 inch samsung G5. I say false advertisement but they throw a complex ridiculous reason behind why it dont measure 32 inches. The box its packaged in does. So thats my 2 cents on why a 4 star.

I’m not sure why this monitor received anything less than five stars. I bought an LG OLED and returned it for an MSI OLED then returned my MSI for this monitor. This monitor is absolutely perfect and it gives you additional features. It’s a smart TV. HDR is great but SDR is a perfect 10 out of 10. Go to rtings and find the calibration settings.
